Globus's Meat Bread is a Game-Changer for Sausage Lovers
I tried Globus's homemade meat bread a few years ago, and I have to admit it didn't exactly blow me away. We bought a massive sandwich at the store - two huge slices of bread with a thick layer of meat bread in between. It was way too big and looked a bit greasy to me.
However, my husband and mother-in-law loved the filling, so they bought a whole loaf of it. I sliced it up, froze it, and we used it as a sausage substitute - and to my surprise, the meat product actually tasted pretty good in that form.
Now, whenever we're in Globus, we always pick up a loaf of this stuff.
This time, we grabbed the Meat Bread 'Pizza'.
Meat Bread GLOBUS / Globus 'Pizza'GENERAL INFORMATION.
You can buy the product by weight. Since our family is big and we don't visit this store often, we always get a whole loaf.
It weighs around 2kg.
The cost per kilogram is 499.90 rubles.
Meat bread is a national dish of Germans and Belgians. Meat bread will become a great substitute for not always healthy and quality sausage products on your table.EXTERNAL APPEARANCE.
The meat product looks a lot like a black bread loaf - probably why it's called that (it's rectangular with a slightly narrower bottom and a wider top, with a 'hat' on top).
Since it's not just regular bread, but 'Pizza', you can see vegetable and cheese ingredients on its surface.
The surface of the loaf has a light beige color, not toasted - probably because they cook it by boiling or baking. There's no plastic or casing - it's ready to eat.
Inside, the sausage-like product has a light pink color.
The structure is 'porous', 'nostril-like'.
Meat Bread GLOBUS / GLOBUS "Pizza"The veggies and cheese are distributed unevenly - I guess they mix the meat with additives and then put it in the baking form.Product consistency - it's springy, bouncy, soft, and juicy.
Smell - it smells amazing, meaty, I can taste the paprika, super appetizing and delicious.
INGREDIENTS.
I used to work in the food industry, and I'm used to trusting natural ingredients.
Yeah, the meat mix might have additives to enhance flavor, color, density, and texture, but overall, the product is still super natural.
Meat bread is sold wrapped in craft paper. The ingredient label is stuck on top of it.
Meat Bread GLOBUS / GLOBUS "Pizza"Since this product is natural, it doesn't last long:max 72 hoursThe main meat ingredients are pork and beef (I'm not sure of the ratio).
pork, bacon, water, beef, Dutch cheese (pasteurized, normalized milk, salt, potassium ferrocyanide, milk coagulants, bacterial culture, lysozyme), complex food additive (annatto, pH regulator, emulsifier), nitrite-pickling mix (salt, fixative, nitrates), sweet pepper, glucose syrup, spices, caramelized onion, salt, glucose, flavor enhancer, pyrophosphate sodium, antioxidant, ascorbic acid, flavor enhancer, paprika, garlic, acidity regulator, lemon acidBulgarian peppers in two colors, cut into small cubes.
The cheese is cut into large chunks. It's soft and doesn't ooze out.
I added the onion in the absolute minimum.
You can barely taste the garlic.
PREPARATION.
I was surprised by how ready to eat the meat bread was straight out of the package, but the manufacturer recommends serving it hot, which is also how it's sold.
Hot – served with sides like mashed potatoes, rice, quinoa, and veggies.Cold – as a sandwich component. A slice of meat bread on fresh bread with lettuce and cucumber can make for a full meal.On the holiday table – sliced and garnished with herbs. As an ingredient in other dishes – for example, you can pan-fry slices and add them to an omelette or use them as a filling for a sandwich. From my personal experience, I can say that the product is way more delicious when served hot – it's soft, juicy, and not at all greasy.
You can use it to make hot sandwiches, add it to salads, or mix it with your favorite side dishes (just pan-fry it first). But in our household, we use it as a substitute for sausages.
Meat bread GLOBUS / GLOBUS “Pizza”What I do is take out a frozen portion of the meat bread, let it thaw a bit (or you can cook it right away), slice it into long rectangles, and then submerge it in boiling water for about 2-3 minutes. If it's frozen, you can cook it a bit longer to ensure it's not cold in the middle.
The veggies stay inside the mass, and the cheese stays put, not running or stretching like it would in a pizza.
During cooking, the individual portions increase in size – roughly 1.5 times. Once they've cooled a bit, they return to their original shape (though they become wavy instead of rectangular).
Meat bread GLOBUS / GLOBUS “Pizza”I serve it with any side dish – in this case, it's quinoa with veggies.
These impromptu sausages turn out super tasty, juicy, and aromatic.
The veggies are soft, not crunchy.
As for salt and spices, everything is just right – not too much or too little!
The color changes slightly after cooking – it becomes a bit lighter.
IMPRESSSION.
We love the homemade meat bread from Globus. My husband and I both enjoy the different flavors, and each one is delicious in its own way.
Our kids, on the other hand, weren't too impressed with the "sausage" at first. But if we add it to a salad or a hot sandwich, they devour the whole thing (without even realizing what's in it).
The bread itself is super tasty, aromatic, and made with natural ingredients - perfect for whipping up a variety of dishes.
And if we pair it with some Dijon mustard, we're in heaven!
