A Decent Pair of Wireless Earbuds with Long Battery Life, but a Major Flaw
Hello everyone!
I picked up these wireless Bluetooth headphones from Sony about two years ago through an online store called Wildberries. I chose them based on the reviews I read online, and I trusted the Sony brand because I'd had good experiences with their products in the past. I was really excited to try out these popular headphones, and I'm glad I did.
Product name:
Wireless Bluetooth Headphones Sony WH-CH510The available colors are black, white, and blue. My headphones are black, and I think they look super versatile - my husband and I both love wearing them.
Battery life: up to 35 hours. I've been impressed by how long they last on a single charge - I only need to recharge them every few weeks, depending on how often I use them.
Weight without packaging: 141 grams. I was surprised by how light they are - they're really comfortable to wear.
Country of origin: Vietnam. I'm not sure how that affects the quality, but they seem to be really well-made.
Warranty period: 1 year. I've been using them for two years now, and they still look brand new.
Additional features: built-in microphone, volume control; support for Siri/Google. The built-in microphone is okay, but it's not the best for phone calls outside.
Where I bought them: online store Wildberries
Price - 2003 rubles / date of purchase: 11.08.2020. Over the past two years, the price of these headphones has more than doubled, and now they're sold for 4000-5500 rubles. I feel like that's a bit steep, but I guess you get what you pay for.
Product description from the manufacturer
I've been enjoying high-quality sound all day with this lightweight accessory. You can enjoy your favorite music and podcasts even longer with the Sony WH-CH510 headphones. Thanks to their lightweight design and up to 35 hours of battery life, you won't have to worry about them running out of juice on the go. Bluetooth connectivity lets you connect the headphones to your smartphone or tablet and enjoy your favorite tunes. Battery life that lasts all day and speedy charging. The battery provides up to 35 hours of playback, so you'll have enough charge for even the longest trip. Dead batteries? After a 10-minute quick charge using the Type-C cable, you can listen to your favorite music for another 90 minutes. Take your music with you. The WH-CH510 headphones are not only lightweight and compact, but also easy to store in a bag thanks to their rotating ear cups.
I was impressed by how the headphones were packed in a small, compact box made of white material with an image of the headphones on it. The box is still with me, so I'm showing it to you in the photo.
The box dimensions are 19.5 cm * 17 cm * 4 cm. It's really small, but it's perfect for storing in a drawer or on a shelf.
Inside the box, I found the headphones, a charging cable, and a user manual with a warranty tag. The plug that goes into the wall outlet for charging the headphones isn't included, but you can use a standard mobile phone charger plug and connect it via USB.
These headphones are seriously stylish and gorgeous in my opinion. The all-black color is super versatile, so they can be worn by anyone, whether it's my husband or me. I actually bought them with the idea that my partner might want to use them too, and now the whole family loves them, including the kids.
They connect to my phone via Bluetooth, and they have a pretty impressive wireless range of 10 meters. I've never had any issues with connectivity, and they always pair up easily.
They're incredibly light, weighing in at just 141 grams. Some people have mentioned that they feel a bit fragile, but in reality, these headphones are super reliable. We've been using them for two years without any issues, and their lightweight design makes them super comfortable to wear.
Plus, they're adjustable to fit different head sizes - the earcups can be extended from both sides. They're perfect for my three-year-old, my partner, and me. I've even used them to watch videos on my phone while cooking dinner.
The earpads are 7cm in diameter, and they're super soft and comfortable against my skin. They fit snugly around my ears without putting too much pressure on them. The leather material has held up really well over the past two years, but I do worry that it might start to crack or tear eventually.
The plastic used for the headphones feels great to the touch, and it's high-quality and matte. It doesn't get scratched or dented easily, and they still look brand new despite regular use.
One thing I noticed when I first opened the box was that the inside of the headphones has labels to indicate which earbud is which - the right one has an 'R' and the left one has an 'L', both in English. It's a nice touch, but I'm not sure how necessary it is.
The earbuds themselves are pretty straightforward to use - one of them has three buttons for turning it on and off, and adjusting the volume. It's really easy to figure out how to use them, and I appreciate that I can adjust the volume on the headphones themselves, or through my phone.
Next to the buttons is a charging port and a little light that comes on when the headphones are charging, or when they're turned on and ready to use. It's a nice feature, but it's not essential.
I also took a photo of some of the specs from the instruction manual.
According to the manual, the operating temperature for these headphones is between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius. That's pretty standard, but it's good to know.
As for the power source, these headphones have a built-in lithium-ion rechargeable battery. I've been impressed by how long they last on a single charge - I only need to recharge them every few weeks, depending on how often I use them.
One thing I really like about these headphones is that even when they're completely dead, you can use them again after just 10 minutes of charging and listen to music for 90 minutes. And let me tell you, they charge super fast. The manufacturer says it takes 4.5 hours, but in reality, they charge way quicker.
When I first opened the box, I was impressed to find a set of clear instructions and some helpful images that showed me how to use the headphones. It was really easy to figure out how to use them, and I appreciated the extra guidance.
The sound quality is amazing. I can hear the music clearly, even when I wear the headphones over my hat. And when it's windy outside, the headphones do a great job of blocking out the wind.
I have to say, though, that I'm not a fan of trying to have phone conversations with these headphones. It's hard for the other person to hear me, and they can't really hear themselves either. All the background noise from the street gets picked up by the headphones, so it's not the most comfortable way to talk on the phone.
Overall, I'd say the Sony WH-CH510 headphones are perfect for listening to music. They're stylish, comfy, lightweight, and they hold their charge amazingly well. The only major downside is that they're not great for phone calls outside.
One thing I'd like to mention is that the headphones do get a bit hot after extended use, but it's not a major issue. I've also noticed that the volume control on the headphones can be a bit finicky at times, but it's not a deal-breaker.
Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase, and I would definitely recommend these headphones to anyone looking for a good pair of wireless earbuds. Just keep in mind that they're not the best for phone calls, and you might want to consider that before making a purchase.
