A Decent but Not Quite Perfect Snack - Solen Sandwich Cookies

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently picked up the Solen sandwich cookies with milk-chocolate filling and crunchy 'Ozmo Burger' rice at our local GM Metro store for 58.90 rubles. While not the cheapest option, the cookies themselves are decent. The ingredients include palm oil, which isn't exactly a plus. The cookies have a nice format, making them easy to eat on the go, but the fillings are a bit lacking, especially considering the price. The packaging is eye-catching, though. Overall, these cookies are a decent snack, but they're not perfect.

We recently picked up the Solen sandwich cookies with a milk-chocolate filling and crunchy 'Ozmo Burger' rice at our local GM Metro store for 58.90 rubles.
Each cookie weighs a net 40 grams.
The price per kilogram is pretty steep, coming in at around 1,500 rubles.
These cookies are made in Turkey.
We also grabbed some chocolate eggs with a toy inside from the same brand on a whim.
The ingredients are listed in detail: cookies, milk and chocolate cream, airy rice, and palm oil - not exactly what I'd call a plus.
I had to use scissors to open the packaging, and there were some cuts on top - no zip lock seal in sight.
And that's it - just a small handful of 11.5 pieces in the packaging. One cookie was missing its half, which was a bit of a letdown.
The rice on top had partially fallen off, but you don't really notice it separately in terms of taste.
The cookies themselves are tiny, measuring about two centimeters in diameter - not exactly filling.
The filling should be two-layered: milk and chocolate. But that's not what we got everywhere - check this out.
Actually, I thought there was too little filling overall. The cookie flavor is more pronounced, which is a plus - it's crunchy and not hard, and it's nice. But the filling is a bit lacking. I didn't notice any nut flavor, although I saw hazelnuts in the ingredients.
The Solen sandwich cookies with a milk-chocolate filling and crunchy 'Ozmo Burger' rice are an okay snack. My daughters liked them, but I was hoping for a bit more value for money. I'd recommend them on a try, if only for the novelty.
