A Multi-Mask That's Pretty to Look At, But Not So Hot in Use

summarizeEditor's Summary

I was super stoked to try the Skin Shine Multi-Mask, but unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The packaging is seriously cute, with a vibrant color scheme that's perfect for brightening up a gloomy day. However, the actual masks themselves left me feeling underwhelmed. The clay texture is nice, but the masks don't seem to do much for my skin. I've tried plenty of face masks before, and this one just didn't impress me. If you're looking for a ready-to-use mask, you might want to keep looking. I'd say it's worth a shot if you're new to face masks, but for seasoned users like me, it's not a game changer. I used it for a week and the build quality surprised me - the packaging is cleverly designed with a perforation for easy use, and the expiration date is clearly printed on the packaging. But, the product is overpriced for what you get, and the masks can be a bit messy to apply.

A Multi-Mask That's Pretty to Look At, But Not So Hot in Use
I'm a huge fan of clay masks, but the hassle of mixing and keeping an eye on them as they dry out can be a real pain. So, when I do decide to shell out for a mask, I usually opt for the ready-to-use kind that doesn't require any fuss.
As someone who's tried their fair share of face masks, I was excited to try the Skin Shine Multi-Mask with clay, blue, and pink. The packaging caught my eye immediately - the vibrant color combination is just the thing to brighten up a gloomy winter's day.
Each pack comes with two masks, and I love that you can flip it over to check the instructions for each one. The text is super readable on the contrasting background, so you know exactly where to apply the mask and when to rinse it off.
The expiration date is printed on the bottom seam of the pack, and it's nice and clear - plus, it's not going to fade anytime soon with this design.
The packaging is cleverly split down the middle with a perforation that makes it easy to use each mask individually. There's a small notch on each side that lets you open the package without needing scissors.
The notch makes it easy to just tear off the corner of the packaging, allowing you to squeeze out the mask without making a mess.
Given the format of these masks, one package is designed for a single use. In reality, there's enough product inside for at least two uses, but you'll need to divide it by color - use the pink one first, followed by the blue one, as trying to mix them will result in the product drying out (clay products aren't meant to be stored in the open for long periods).
I decided to follow the manufacturer's instructions and use the mask on the areas marked on the packaging.
One thing I noticed about these masks is that they not only vary in color, but also in scent. The blue one has a distinct green undertone and it's really pungent with a seaweed smell - I didn't catch any coconut notes at all. On the other hand, the pink mask is dominated by a fruity aroma that completely overpowers the seaweed and grabs your attention.
The texture of the mask is nice and creamy, making it easy to spread on your skin. The application process is pleasant - the mask doesn't dry out, so it doesn't pull on your skin, and it doesn't feel like a dense mask that's hard to talk to. Due to its relatively dense texture, it doesn't drip on your skin, allowing you to go about your day as usual.
I used the mask as recommended by the manufacturer, and as a result, there was a lot of product in the T-zone area, which I had to apply multiple layers of. On my cheeks and chin, the mask applied better, but there was still a bit more area to apply the product.
The mask is comfortable to use, although the blue one did start to tingle my skin a bit before I rinsed it off.
I found it easy to wash off the mask using just warm water and a gentle touch - no need for sponges or washcloths. However, the T-zone area was a bit trickier to clean, which I think is due to the thicker layer of mask.
My skin's a combo of oily and dry patches. I've used zoned face masks before, but I usually follow my own routine because they're too one-dimensional. For instance, my oily skin isn't all over my face - it's mainly my forehead and chin. But my nose and cheeks are super dry.
The results were pretty cool, but I wish I'd considered my skin type instead of just following the instructions. My cheeks were super soft and hydrated, but the pink mask didn't work for my chin - it made my skin feel greasy, and I even noticed a pimple getting worse.
The blue mask did a great job of drying out my forehead, getting rid of that oily sheen, but it sucked the life out of my nose.
On the plus side:
It's budget-friendly.You get two masks in one package. It smells amazing. It works really well for my skin type.Honestly, I couldn't think of a single thing I disliked about this product, but don't blindly follow the manufacturer's recommendations - consider your skin type and its unique needs. This mask wasn't a good fit for me, but if I'd applied the clay myself, targeting specific areas, I'm sure I would've been thrilled with the results.
