Editor's Summary
I'll be the first to admit, I was skeptical about spending three grand on a silk pillowcase. But after a month of using it, I'm hooked. The benefits of sleeping on real silk are real, and I'm loving the results. My hair looks smoother, and my skin feels softer. It's worth every penny, but I'll get into that later.
Specifications
I'm still wondering how I ended up buying a silk pillowcase. I think I saw a video on social media that really caught my attention. It was talking about how sleeping on regular cotton or satin pillowcases can cause friction on your hair, leading to breakage and wrinkles on your skin. I loved the idea so much that I immediately typed 'silk pillowcase' into my search on Ozon. I guess you could say that was a successful marketing strategy, even though the video didn't mention a specific brand – they just talked about the benefits of real silk.
After doing a quick search, I found out that only natural silk has the healing properties, not its cheap alternatives. Apparently, the density of silk is measured in momme, and if you try to light it on fire, it behaves in a certain way – some manufacturers even include a sample in the box that you can test. Silk is supposed to make your hair and skin look smoother.
I have to admit, I was a bit of a procrastinator when it came to buying this pillowcase. I had just dyed my hair blonde again in October (I'd been a brunette for five years, but I couldn't resist the temptation to go back to my natural color). So, I was looking for ways to keep my hair healthy, especially after bleaching it. That's when I saw the recommendation for a silk pillowcase, and I decided to give it a try.
***
The silk pillowcase with a guarantee from the manufacturer (which is supposed to be the real deal) isn't cheap – right now, it's 3500 rubles. But I bought it during the November sale, so I got it for a thousand rubles less.
I have to admit, I was hesitant about spending so much money on a pillowcase. But in the end, I decided to go for it, and I'm really glad I did.
I chose the branded pillowcase, so it arrived within two days in a nice box with all the certificates and quality marks.
The box is magnetic, which is really convenient. I ended up using it to store some old jewelry.
As a bonus, they included a silk hair tie, which is really cool.
By the way, I chose this tiger print – I've been really into animal prints lately. I guess it's just a sign of getting older, haha!
I've gotta say, the quality of this silk is really dense. It doesn't slip around and it doesn't get all static-y. It's always cool to the touch, which is actually kind of nice - it's like a refreshing chill. I've noticed a big difference between this and cotton blankets, which are always warm. But this silk one stays cool, even in a hot room.
So, the results.
I've been using this blanket for a month now, and I've washed it once. By the way, you can't machine wash it - you have to hand wash it in cold water with no harsh detergents. I only sleep on it myself, I don't let the kids use it. It takes a long time to get stained, I'd say it's almost like it doesn't get stained at all. I washed it because I had to, not because it needed it - it had been almost three weeks.
It seemed to come out okay after washing, nothing fell apart and the color stayed the same.
So, would I recommend it?
Yeah, definitely. I didn't notice any major changes in my appearance, but my highlighted hair is definitely staying healthy with this blanket.
I recommend it because it's just so nice to sleep on - it's a real tactile pleasure.
Trust me, once you sleep on silk, you'll never want to go back to cotton again. It's just too rough and uncomfortable. You get used to the good stuff quickly!
