This year, we were on the hunt for a resort town with world-class treatment facilities. After scouring reviews, we settled on Essentuki, and specifically, the Rus' sanatorium.

We'd heard great things about the treatment facilities at Rus', but I'll be upfront – it's not a budget-friendly option. It's definitely out of the price range for the average Russian. I wish all our healthcare facilities were as clean, had attentive and well-trained staff, delicious and varied food, and, most importantly, were affordable. The sanatorium is a bit of a trek from the city center, but that's actually a good thing – you can't hear the noise from the cars.

The grounds are fenced off, with access only for registered guests, and outsiders are strictly prohibited. Inside, it's a beautiful park area with fountains, benches, and an enormous number of pine, spruce, and linden trees.

It's basically a terrenkur. We loved walking along the trails, surrounded by rabbits and birds singing their hearts out!

The July heat that hit most of the country this year was barely noticeable here. We found ourselves wanting to walk more and breathe in that intoxicating air. Our room was standard, perfectly comfortable for two, but it would be a bit cramped for three. The room came with a double bed, nightstands, a TV, and a spacious wardrobe with plenty of hangers.

One of the things that really stood out to me was the availability of essentials like a kettle, tea and coffee sets, and sugar, which were constantly replenished. We also had access to robes and slippers, which made it super convenient to walk to the pool and spa. The bathroom was stocked with the usual toiletries, including soap, shower gel, shampoo, and toothbrush sets. We had plenty of towels, and they were changed daily – we even got two extra sets, although I'm not entirely sure what they were for.

The food was amazing – it was all super healthy, but still super tasty. My husband, who often gets heartburn when he's abroad, said it was the worst he'd ever had! Despite trying to be good, we still managed to pick up a few extra pounds. In the evenings, we'd often head out to local cafes and restaurants in Kislovodsk, but here, we barely felt the need to leave the resort. The food was so well-balanced, and the chefs definitely deserve a round of applause!

We also booked a bunch of treatments separately, which were all really necessary. These included ozone therapy, magnet therapy, shockwave therapy, mud treatments, Bishofit and anti-stress baths, siphon irrigation, and massage, to name a few. Everything was top-notch, and the timing was spot on – no waiting around, even with a large number of guests. It's worth noting that we expected a lot of older folks at a sanatorium, but there were actually a lot of young families with kids.

We spent our evenings exploring, attending concerts at "Rusi", and even took a day trip to Dombai on our own. The drive was an unforgettable 170 km – the scenery was just stunning. As for the town of Essentuki, I have to say it was a bit of a letdown – it felt a bit neglected, to be honest.

I'd highly recommend this sanatorium to my friends and family – the only downside is the pretty steep price tag for accommodation and treatments.

There's one more thing to mention - the area's got a stray dog problem. You won't see them during the day, but at night they'll keep you up if you've got your windows open. I hope the management takes this into account.
