A Game-Changing Serum That Delivers on Its Promises
As the summer comes to an end, I've been experimenting with various skincare products to find the perfect combination for my oily skin. The star of today's post is Round Lab's Vita Niacinamide Dark Spot Serum, a product that's been making waves in the skincare community.
One of the things that drew me to this serum is its unique packaging. The serum came in a small cardboard box with minimal plastic and unnecessary paper waste, which I appreciate as an eco-friendly move. It's clear that Round Lab prioritizes sustainability in their packaging.
This reduced packaging is a testament to the brand's commitment to the environment. The bottle itself matches the packaging's design, with a solid semi-transparent plastic in a bright yellow color that's both vibrant and eye-catching. I love how the product looks – it stands out on my vanity among other skincare products.
The packaging is pretty bare on the outside, but the back has a lot more info – unfortunately, it's all in English. The serum itself comes in a 30ml bottle, which is a great size for a product like this. The bottle has a twist-off cap, which is nice and easy to use.
One side has a little silicone bulb, and the other has a glass dropper. I'm not a huge fan of the bulb, though – it's a bit finicky and doesn't pick up the serum very easily. The neck of the bottle is nice and wide, and there's an extra stopper to help prevent any spills and make the most of the serum.
One thing I noticed when I first got this product is that the manufacturer includes a lot of information on the bottom of the bottle, including the date it was made and how long it's good for – just one year after opening.
The star ingredients in this serum are glutathione, vitamin C, and of course, niacinamide, which is front and center in the product name. With these ingredients, you'd expect the serum to help even out your skin tone, reduce inflammation, and maybe even brighten up those pesky dark spots (but let's be real, that's a long shot, and it usually takes a combination of products and more drastic measures than just a serum).
This serum is pretty transparent with a bunch of small yellow capsules inside. When you apply it to your skin, the capsules break apart, but unlike the camellia cream from Round Lab I reviewed here, they do it without making a mess.
I have to say, this serum is super thick. A single drop takes its time to drip down your face, giving you ample time to spread it evenly. No fragrance is a definite plus, since scents can be a major allergen.
Round Lab's Vita Niacinamide Dark Spot Serum claims to even out your skin tone, reduce the appearance of dark spots, freckles, and post-acne marks, and give your skin a natural glow. After washing and toning your face, apply the serum and spread it evenly.
I have oily skin that's prone to occasional breakouts. One thing to note is that if you plan to use this serum during the summer or when you're exposed to direct sunlight, it's a good idea to use a sunscreen as well – active ingredients like vitamin C can cause unwanted dark spots on your skin.
This serum is super comfortable to apply, and it glides on smoothly without leaving any residue, greasiness, or that dreaded 'greenhouse effect' on your skin. My face doesn't even get red after applying it. However, if your skin is a bit dry or irritated, it might feel a bit prickly when you apply it. But it's not a deal-breaker.
The stickiness is minimal, and it's completely gone after applying a moisturizer (like a cream, for example). In fact, the manufacturer recommends using it in combination with their brightening cream – check out the review here.
This serum leaves a lovely, satin-like finish, making your skin look healthy and radiant. I didn't notice any major moisturizing effect, to be honest – this serum is more about drying out your skin and a bit tightening it up. So, you'll need a moisturizer or a cream with niacinamide from the same series to balance it out.
The brightening effect is subtle yet effective. Regular use leaves your skin looking smoother, with a more even tone and fewer acne scars. It even helps to fade those pesky red spots that linger after breakouts (post-acne).
There are products with high active ingredient content, and then there are those that are gentler and more forgiving. This Round Lab Vita Niacinamide Dark Spot Serum falls into the latter category, which is why the manufacturer recommends it even for sensitive skin.
Pros: Thick, rich consistency. No strong fragrance. Gentle yet effective.
Cons: Expensive.
