A Seafood Name, But Not the Flavor

summarizeEditor's Summary

I stopped by a local store and spotted a pack of ROLTON instant noodles with seafood. The new variety caught my eye, as I've only seen it with beef or chicken before. I picked it up to try something different, but the flavor didn't quite live up to my expectations. The noodles themselves are pretty bland, even with the broth mix, and the seafood flavor just didn't translate well to the dish.

I stopped by a local store and spotted a pack of ROLTON instant noodles with seafood. I don't often grab this product, but I've only seen it with beef or chicken before, so the new variety caught my eye.
Check out the packaging – it looks pretty cool.
It weighs in at 85 grams.
The shelf life is 12 months.
The manufacturing date and ingredients are listed on the back of the package.
The ingredients are pretty extensive, with added E numbers, of course. I'm just surprised they put so many in the noodles.
Along with the noodles, you get a broth mix and dried veggies.
So, I followed the usual routine: I added the ingredients, poured in some boiling water, covered it, and waited for about 10 minutes.
After cooking, the noodles looked pretty decent.
Unfortunately, I didn't pick up on any strong seafood aroma, which I was expecting, given the price point of 25 rubles. However, the aroma and taste of the seafood should be there thanks to flavor enhancers.
The noodles themselves are dense and didn't fall apart, but the taste is just not there, and it's all about the name – seafood. You can't even taste it in the broth.
For me, this is just another overhyped product. I'd rather have chicken or beef noodles any day.
I've got to say, the marketing team really made a big deal out of the seafood name, but when it comes down to it, the flavor just isn't there. I hate being misled by a product's packaging.
