I\'ll get straight to the point: this review is based on my personal experience using Renal for my cat. If your experience is different, that\'s okay – I\'m not here to dissuade you. I\'ve seen some people write reviews based on their cat\'s supposed improvement, but that\'s not what I\'m about. I\'m not saying that some people haven\'t seen positive effects from valerian root for depression, but that\'s a different story altogether.
To evaluate a product\'s effectiveness, you\'d need to run regular tests and shell out a ton of cash for your cat\'s treatment. Vets would be all for it, but the average consumer wants to see results visually and through their pet\'s behavior. Not everyone can afford to track their pet\'s progress through lab tests, and that\'s a valid concern. Take, for instance, someone living in a rural area who takes their cat to the vet in the nearest town and can\'t afford any more.

That\'s why I think some products should show their worth through external signs. I had high hopes for Renal, a pricey cat food supplement.\xa0

Renal instead of Iptakitin
\xa0
Renal and Iptakitin have different compositions, but apparently, one can substitute the other. We started with Iptakitin, but it\'s hard to find in Russia now, so we switched to Renal. People I\'ve asked say Iptakitin is more effective, but we didn\'t have a choice.

The Kidney Supplement - What\'s in It
\xa0
This supplement is a game-changer for cats with kidney issues. It contains a combination of ingredients that support kidney function in both the early and late stages of chronic kidney disease. The formula normalizes the exchange processes in the animal\'s body that occur with chronic kidney disease. Calcium plays a crucial role in maintaining normal functioning of the nervous system and musculoskeletal system, heart, kidneys, respiratory organs, normalizes capillary permeability and blood coagulation. Calcium is involved in the functioning of cell membranes, regulation of mediator and hormone release, vitamin B12 absorption. Xylose reduces blood cholesterol, uric acid, and glucose levels, has antibacterial and antifungal properties, improves calcium absorption. Maltodextrin is a fermented carbohydrate that\'s easily digestible. Maltodextrin breakdown occurs in the digestive tract, and its small breakdown rate provides a long and uniform glucose supply to the body. Potassium citrate helps to replenish potassium deficiency in the body. It contributes to maintaining the necessary intracellular and extracellular potassium levels. Potassium is the main intracellular ion, playing a crucial role in regulating various bodily functions. It\'s involved in maintaining intracellular osmotic pressure, conducting and transmitting neural impulses to innervated organs, muscle contraction, and several biochemical processes, alkalizing the urine.

Kidney Supplement for Cats - How to Use
\xa0
It\'s pretty straightforward. You just need to know your cat\'s weight and calculate the dose. All the instructions are on the packaging. I mix it with their food in one or two servings. To be honest, my cat doesn\'t love it, but they eat it. I mix it with wet food, of course. But the powder doesn\'t have the most pleasant smell, so don\'t even try giving it to them on its own.

Kidney Supplement for Cats - The Results
\xa0
I\'ve gotta be honest, I was using Renal as a standalone treatment, but it didn\'t quite cut it for us. We had other meds going on at the same time, and I could see the effects even visually. When we temporarily stopped those meds and switched solely to Renal, everything came to a halt. I\'m not disputing that with lab tests, you might be able to track some progress, but in my cat\'s daily life, I didn\'t notice any external signs of improvement. So, in my opinion, as a standalone treatment, it\'s pretty ineffective.
Renal is supposed to improve digestion, but we didn\'t see any change in that department either. We\'re going to go back to our previous treatment and supplement it with Renal, but I\'m not convinced I\'ll be buying another pack. I\'m really hoping to get my hands on some Iprazidin and switch to that.
I want to reiterate that I was only evaluating the visual effect of this supplement without any lab tests. During the time we were using Renal, we didn\'t see any positive dynamics like we did before.
So, my verdict is that it\'s only effective in combination therapy, and it\'s not some kind of miracle cure.
