Specifications
Hello everyone! I'm a huge fan of open-world games, so I decided to give it a try. Plus, I'm a huge Tarantino fan, and the game is often compared to the atmosphere of his movies. Today, I want to share my thoughts with you.
Game info:
Red Dead Redemption 2 is an action-adventure and third-person shooter with an open-world setting.
Developed by Rockstar Studios and published by Rockstar Games for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018. For personal computers running Windows, the game was released on November 5, 2019.
Story. The game takes place in the 20th century. A group of outlaws, led by Dutch, try to make a living, provide for their people, resolve conflicts with other gangs, and start a new life. The main character is a young Arthur, who has to adapt to the ever-changing events and intrigues.Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place in several fictional US states on the cusp of the 19th and 20th centuries. The game's story revolves around the adventures of Dutch Van der Linde's gang.
The story part is the best part of the game. But it might not appeal to everyone, as it's incredibly slow-paced. I'm absolutely in love with it, though. The story missions are super interesting and varied.
The train heists were my favorite missions. The side missions are also pretty cool.Despite being the second part, it's a great standalone game.
Characters
Arthur. I'm obsessed with this guy. He's one of those rare cases where the main character has a unique personality. Arthur looks lost, as he's been raised by outlaws since he was a teenager. Despite being far from a positive hero, Arthur is loyal to his people and ideals. I was heartbroken watching him after the third chapter.
I love how the hero is ruthless only towards his enemies. To regular people, he's understanding and tries to help them. He's a really alive and interesting character.
I've got to say, I fell in love with Arthur. He's one of the best heroes in video games. Not a villain, not a ladies' man, not a jerk - he's just a normal guy who's sympathetic to others and true to himself. But his fate is still pretty sad. The only thing that's up to you is whether Arthur gets redemption or not.
Dutch is the charismatic leader of the gang. He calls himself a simple country boy, but he's got a bit of a Mexican narco vibe going on. Dutch is an incredibly charismatic character with great leadership skills. He knows how to work people and he uses that to his advantage.
I liked Dutch because he's always spouting philosophical lines about honor and whatnot. He's like a gentleman in a world of crime. But then his rotten nature comes out and it's like, wow, this guy's a total rat who'll stab anyone in the back if it suits him.
Sadie is my favorite character. She's a great strong female lead. Unlike some of the other characters, you can see her whole arc from the beginning. She goes from being a grieving widow to a tough-as-nails gangster. I love the chemistry between her and Arthur. They're like siblings who love to tease each other, but they've got each other's backs.
There are a lot of characters, but I've only highlighted three of my favorites. At first, I had trouble keeping track of them all, but by the end, I knew most of them by name.
Interface
The interface is pretty standard. It's not super complicated, but it's not exactly beginner-friendly either. You've got to use the keyboard and mouse, and there's also a combat system that involves using whatever's around you.
Open World
This is one of the best open-world games out there. The world feels really alive. For example, I once decided to walk to a mission instead of taking a car. Along the way, I got robbed a few times and stumbled upon some side quests.
I also ran into some suspicious homeowners who kept inviting me over. It was so obvious it was a trap that I went just to see what would happen. Needless to say, the visit didn't end well.
One thing I love about this game is how the secondary characters react to your actions. If you point a gun at someone, they'll point theirs back at you. It's pretty cool that there are multiple locations to explore.
Hunting
I really enjoyed the hunting aspect of the game, where you can discover different species of birds, animals, and reptiles. You can either discover them by hovering over them with your cursor or by killing them. The second method is way more convenient, since you don't have to hold the cursor for too long. I liked this part of the game, but I only managed to discover 70 out of 400 species.
There are also some pretty ridiculous moments in the game. For example, I shot a bear 10 times, but it still didn't die. I think it's because I was using the wrong weapon.
Mini-games
The game has three mini-games that you can play, and I tried them out a few times. Unfortunately, I lost most of the time, but I'm sure fans of cards and poker will love them.
Graphics
The game is absolutely stunning. There are so many beautiful locations to explore, and the interactive cutscenes are like watching a live movie. Sometimes I even forgot that it's a game, not a movie.
Soundtrack
I'm blown away by the soundtrack. I love how the music changes depending on the location. All the musical inserts are harmonious and perfectly fit the moment. And the song Unshaken is just divine.
Final Verdict. I'm not gonna lie, this thing is a masterpiece. I spent three months on it, and not a single regret. I'm giving it a solid 5 stars and I highly recommend it to everyone. Thanks for tuning in, folks! ❤️
