When I bought this 27 x 38 cm set, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Little did I know, I was in for a long haul – about six months of beading, to be exact!
But the end result was worth it. Now that my 'Christmas Story' is complete and hanging on the wall in a frame, I can see why it was worth the effort. It looks amazing from a distance, almost like a painting.
What came in the set was the beads, the linen with the design printed on it, and a beading needle. To make things easier, I transferred the beads to a matchbox and numbered them. As you can see from the photos, I still had plenty of beads left over – enough for another project, actually!
I worked on this project, stretching the linen over a large frame I had at home. However, the instructions suggested using square pincushions, which I opted for instead.
I set up my workspace to avoid straining my eyes. Beading like this requires good lighting and a comfortable chair with back support. I spent hours beading, and I have to admit, it was a bit of a challenge to stay focused.
What I loved about beading was the process itself. It was engaging, and I didn't have to worry about counting threads – the design was right in front of me. The only challenge was being patient.
