Mixed Feelings About Pure Vision 2 Contact Lenses
I've been wearing contact lenses for four years now, and for almost the entire time, I've stuck with Acuvue Oasis Hydraclear Plus. This year, I decided to mix things up and try something new – that's how I ended up with Pure Vision 2.
As a contact lens wearer, I've always been pretty particular about the brand I choose. Over the years, I've tried a few different types, but I've always come back to Acuvue Oasis Hydraclear Plus. They're super comfortable, easy to wear, and provide great vision. However, this year I decided to give something new a shot.
I've always bought my contact lenses individually – it's just more convenient for me. Plus, my right and left eyes see the world a bit differently, so I need to get two separate lenses, which means one pack isn't enough.
The Pure Vision 2 lenses I bought individually cost me 220 rubles each. If I had bought a pack of six lenses on the same website, it would've cost me 1,290 rubles – that's 215 rubles per lens, which isn't a huge difference from buying individually.
To open the individual packaging, you just need to gently pull the tab. Be careful not to pull too hard, or the lens and solution might spill out. I had a bit of trouble finding the tab at first – it's very tightly sealed. Other than that, the packaging is pretty standard.
Each lens comes in its own individual blue and white packaging. On top, you'll find the essential info – the curvature radius (8.6), the diameter (14.00), and the optical power. As I mentioned earlier, I need different diopters: 4.00 for my left eye, and 4.50 for my right eye. Plus, the lenses come in increments of 0.25 diopters.
When you flip the individual packaging over, you can see the contact lens floating in a transparent buffer solution. Before using, I usually store the lens in its usual cleaning solution, or at least give it a quick rinse.
The Pure Vision 2 lenses appear completely colorless in their packaging, making them nearly invisible in the blister pack, and a bit tricky to spot in the container too. However, the Pure Vision 2 lenses aren't entirely colorless – they have a very subtle, almost imperceptible greenish tint.
I always check the lens position before putting it on – it's pretty easy to spot. When it's in the right position, the lens looks like a bowl; when it's not, it resembles a saucer with slightly curled edges. I can tell them apart without any issues.
Despite the slight green tint I noticed when I first put the Pure Vision 2 contact lenses in their container, they're virtually invisible on my eyes. And with a 14mm diameter, the ring is hardly noticeable. Of course, for those who wear contacts, it's a bit of a fashion statement, but you still need to keep an eye out.
Pure Vision 2 contact lenses are way more dense and rigid than the two-week ones I've used before. But even other monthly replacement contact lenses weren't this stiff. On the other hand, Pure Vision 2 hold their shape incredibly well. However, the first time I put them in, they caused me some discomfort.
My experience with Pure Vision 2 contact lenses was a bit of a rollercoaster. When I first decided to put them in, I encountered some difficulties. The left eye lens fit perfectly, sat comfortably. But the right eye lens started to slide out immediately, didn't sit right, kept falling out. I had to put off wearing these lenses for a few days.
After a couple of days, I decided to try putting in the Pure Vision 2 contact lenses again. The situation was almost identical, but my right eye felt a bit better. The lens wasn't sliding out as much, but I still felt it. I guess something about Pure Vision 2 just doesn't agree with me.
Pure Vision 2 are monthly replacement contact lenses. I wore them for roughly that long, maybe a day or two less. But they didn't deform, tear, or get any cracks. Overall, Pure Vision 2 contact lenses hold up really well throughout their entire wear time.
As for me, I only wore them for 10-12 hours a day, since my eyes start to get tired from the contact lenses by then. And they don't sit perfectly in my right eye, so I tried to take them out as soon as possible.
I use specialized cleaning solutions to care for my contact lenses, replacing the liquid in the container every time I take them off or put them in, and I try not to reuse the same liquid more than once. Before putting them in or after taking them out, I also rinse each lens with a cleaning solution.
My thoughts on cleaning solutions:
Avizor AquasoftОфтальмикс БИОЛиконтин УниверсалОптимед ПлюсАкваОптикI never fell asleep with my Pure Vision 2 contact lenses in, but I did hesitate to do so with lenses that already caused some discomfort in one eye during regular wear. In my opinion, it's better to err on the side of caution and give your eyes a break, especially at night.
Pure Vision 2 contact lenses were the first to cause me this kind of reaction. Previously, I had no issues with clear contact lenses, which fit perfectly and caused no discomfort. But these ones were different. I'm not sure what caused it, but it might be individual.
I won't be buying Pure Vision 2 contact lenses again, despite wearing them for a whole month. They worked for my left eye, but not my right. So, if you do decide to buy them, I'd recommend starting with a single pair to see if they suit you.
