I recently caught the new show ProUyut on Channel One, which airs on Saturdays at 9 am.
ProUyut on Channel One reviewsWhat's unique about this show is that it's part of the renovation series, but without the actual renovation. They don't tear down walls, drill holes, or build anything from scratch. Instead, they work with the existing space using interior design tricks to create a cozy atmosphere. The host of ProUyut is actress Vera Kincyeva, who happens to be the daughter of Konstantin Kincyev, the lead singer of the rock band Alisa. Vera's got this warm, positive energy that's infectious. She's lively, emotional, and totally charming – I think that's one of the show's biggest strengths. ProUyut on Channel One reviewsThe premise of the show is simple: they take an ordinary room in an ordinary family home and transform it into the homeowner's dream space. They replace some of the furniture, paint the walls, add new trim, and even bring in fresh textiles to give the space a whole new look.
Home Makeover Show on Channel One ReviewsWhile working on the home makeover process, the host goes around her friends and acquaintances to gather tips and hacks for the viewers. She shares advice on where to place a bed, how to choose and repot houseplants, and how to freshen up old furniture with paint, and so on. The idea behind the show is great. Nowadays, not many people have the budget for a major renovation, but they still want to live in a cozy space. Or at least, they want to live in an illusion that everything's not that bad. Of course, I'm not talking about painting over moldy wallpaper. This is more about changing up the decor to give the space a fresh new look. I have mixed feelings about the makeover, though. Honestly, they replaced one old vacuum cleaner with a new one. There are so many things going on, it's a mess and an artistic chaos. The host's creative vision isn't really my cup of tea. She was painting everything in sight. The interior design of this cabinet is all over the place - it's like they didn't even care. They slapped on some expensive-looking paint and then added these tacky gold accents everywhere. The result is a messy, Instagram-inspired look that's just too much.
At the end of the show, they even show you how much money they spent on all the stuff. It's pretty pricey...
I'd only recommend the 'ProUyt' show on Channel One for expanding your design knowledge - it's just not my cup of tea. I'd love to see more practical tips and a more professional approach, rather than just following their whims.
And the cherry on top is that they used the song 'Prolal' by Kolybri as the main theme. I love that song - the lyrics are 'It's a total failure, it's a total failure, I know.' I guess that's just their way of saying 'hello' to the viewers.
Sincerely, Andy Goldred
