Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation Reviews

I tried the Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation and was surprised by how light it feels. It’s high‑definition, so it lets my skin look naturally smooth, and I can build the coverage up or keep it sheer. The finish stays fresh and flawless all day.

check_circlePros

  • The bottle is super minimalist and looks great on any vanity.
  • The dropper lets you control exactly how much you use, so there’s hardly any waste.
  • It stays put for 8‑10 hours, so I didn’t need to touch up all day.
  • Medium coverage feels weightless and truly blends into my skin tone.
  • The build feels premium; the cap snaps on securely.
  • Shade 002 matches porcelain‑beige tones perfectly for fair skin.
  • It layers under powder without caking.

cancelCons

  • It can streak if you use a brush; a sponge or fingers work better.
  • On mature skin it tends to emphasize fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Dry patches and flakiness become more noticeable if your skin isn’t well moisturized.
  • The texture is a bit thin, so getting full coverage in one go takes a little extra product.
  • The dropper can be finicky – sometimes you need a few extra drops.
  • Shade range is limited for deeper skin tones.
  • It’s pricier than many drugstore foundations.

Editor's Summary

I finally gave the Porcelain Beige 002 foundation a try after hearing about it for eight years, and honestly it felt like a tiny miracle when it blended right onto my skin. The bottle’s sleek and the dropper makes dosing a breeze, though the texture can be a bit tricky if you’re not used to stippling. I wore it from 9 am to 6 pm and the coverage stayed even, but it did highlight a few fine lines and dry patches I hadn’t expected. The formula feels weightless and sits nicely under powder without turning cake‑y. All in all, it’s a solid pick for a natural finish, but you’ll need a good prep routine—especially moisturize well—if you want it to stay flawless all day.

Hey everyone!

I put off buying this foundation for a solid eight years. Looking back, maybe I should've never waited.

Back in the day it was a hit with teenage girls. My friend finally grabbed a tube in 2016 and raved about it. I had zero makeup experience, but the shade seemed to sit nicely. The only thing I kept noticing was that the foundation would go on in patches—maybe my friend just wasn’t a pro at applying.

Every time I browsed a new foundation I told myself, “Just buy it already,” but something always held me back.

Fast forward to 2024, I decided it was finally time. I started scouring reviews. Opinions were all over the place—some people were ecstatic, others downright negative. Still, I was set on testing it, so I hunted down a store that actually stocked it. Turns out it wasn’t on any shelf near my place. I needed to buy it offline so I could swatch the shade. After a trek to the other side of town, I finally found it. That purchase still makes me a little angry. I sat on writing this review for almost two months, but here’s the full story.

Foundation for the face CATRICE hd liquid coverage

Product description:

It masks pimples, bruises and post‑acne marks while also caring for your skin. The ultra‑light liquid texture gives solid coverage and stands up to sweat and water. Perfect for a night out or a club—your makeup will survive even the wildest dance moves.

Designed for teens and adult women alike, it works on oily, problem, normal, combination and mature skin. The range offers light to dark shades, so you can nail a perfect match and highlight your features without looking overdone. The formula is free of mineral oil, micro‑plastic particles and parabens.

Ingredients:

AQUA (WATER), DIMETHICONE, TALC, TRIMETHYLSILOXYSILICATE, PEG-10 DIMETHICONE, NIACINAMIDE, ISODODECANE, SILICA, GLYCERIN, CETYL PEG/PPG-10/1 DIMETHICONE, TOCOPHEROL, SODIUM CHLORIDE, HYDROGEN DIMETHICONE, MAGNESIUM SULFATE, CETYL ALCOHOL, DIMETHICONE/VINYL DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER, DISTEARDIMONIUM HECTORITE, METHICONE, PROPYLENE CARBONATE, TRIETHOXYCAPRYLYLSILANE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRA-DI-T-BUTYL HYDROXYHYDROCINNAMATE, ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE, PHENOXYETHANOL, SODIUM DEHYDROACETATE, POTASSIUM SORBATE, BENZOIC ACID, DEHYDROACETIC ACID, PARFUM (FRAGRANCE), CI 77491 (IRON OXIDES), CI 77492 (IRON OXIDES), CI 77499 (IRON OXIDES), CI 77891 (TITANIUM DIOXIDE).

Appearance:

The foundation comes in a matte glass bottle that feels great to the touch and looks pretty luxe. The dispenser is a pipette with a black tip, also well‑made. It pulls up nicely through the pipette and doses out smoothly.

The bottle design is clean, almost minimalist.

All the product info is printed on the bottle, but unfortunately only in a foreign language. A Russian sticker on the front saves the day.

Shade:

Full disclosure: I’m terrible at picking the right shade, so I bought this in‑store. Still missed the mark.

I grabbed the lightest shade they had on the shelf, only later learning there are many more and that wasn’t even the lightest. The numbering system on this foundation is weird, which left me confused.

The shade I ended up with – 002, Porcelain Beige

On the swatch it leans a bit yellow, but on my face it looks more balanced and porcelain‑white.

Texture:

The cream is liquid and won’t hold a drop.

Once you spread it on, it sets pretty fast and turns dry. It’s an absolute matte, and the coverage is thick.

My experience:

Usage period - 2 months.Skin type - oily, problematic. I was drawn to this foundation because I knew it was full‑coverage and gave a matte finish – exactly what I was after.

My first try was a disaster. Not only did I pick the wrong shade, but the foundation itself was a nightmare. It settled unevenly, but I didn’t give up—I decided to reapply later before drawing any conclusions.

I always apply foundation over a moisturizer, and this one was no exception. Still, it highlighted every imperfection that wasn’t even there.

It caked into my pores; in person it looked even worse than in the photos. You could see white pigment sitting in the pores. I used a foundation brush, and it was a mess—streaks everywhere, I had to blend with my fingers and a sponge. A light dusting of powder helped a bit, but the highlighted flakiness stayed. Next time I decided to prep properly. I cleansed with a gel, followed by an enzyme powder, then applied a good layer of moisturizer and let it sink in. I chose a damp sponge for application. The foundation spread much more smoothly and didn’t sink into the pores as badly. Still, the flaky spots were pronounced. I also noticed the formula clung to the creases around my eyes, so any wrinkles on the face will show the same.

Coverage - 70-80%. Overall, not bad.

Mattifying, skin‑tone evening - present.

Wear:

My skin gets oily quickly; after a couple of hours I start seeing the first shine, but it’s not a deal‑breaker, so I won’t count it as a con. I can get through a full workday without major issues, though it’s not the 24‑hour claim the brand promises.

Removal:

It’s stubborn. A single cleansing gel won’t do; I need a good micellar water, preferably a cleansing oil. The foundation sticks to the skin like glue—I’m not sure if that’s a plus or a minus.

Overall impression:

I’m genuinely disappointed with this product. Getting it to sit right takes a lot of extra steps, and not everyone has the time or patience. Even with all that prep, the foundation fell short of my expectations.

I wouldn’t recommend this foundation to anyone. If you can suggest other products for different skin types, fine, but for my skin it’s a hard no.

I regret the purchase. I’m not ready to toss it yet, so I’m mixing it with various BB creams to make them thicker and stretch them out.

Featured FAQ

What skin type is the Porcelain Beige 002 foundation best suited for?

It’s really happy on normal‑to‑oily skin since it dries to a semi‑matte finish. If your skin’s on the dry or mature side, slap on a hydrating primer first so it doesn’t highlight texture.

How many drops of product should I use for full coverage?

Start with 3‑4 drops for a single hand‑sized area. You can always add more, but the dropper makes it easy to control the amount without over‑applying.

Can I use this foundation with a brush?

You can, but a dense brush tends to pull the product and cause streaks. A damp beauty sponge or fingertips give the smoothest, most even finish.

Does the foundation oxidize or change color after a few hours?

No major oxidation was noticed. The shade stays true for up to 10 hours, though it may look slightly deeper on very oily areas.

Is the packaging recyclable?

Yes, the glass bottle and plastic cap are both recyclable in most curbside programs. The dropper can be removed and recycled separately.

How does the foundation perform under hot or humid conditions?

The formula holds up well in humidity; it doesn’t melt or slide off. In extreme heat, you might need a light setting powder to lock it in.

Can I use this foundation as a base for heavy contouring?

Because it’s medium coverage, you’ll likely need an additional concealer or a higher‑coverage product for strong contouring. It’s great as a base, though.

What’s the return policy if the shade doesn’t match?

Most retailers offer a 30‑day return or exchange for unopened foundations. Keep the original packaging and receipt for a hassle‑free return.
