I picked up the 06/2021 issue, which I've been meaning to review, since I missed the previous one.
A little background on Patrones:
Patrones is a new Russian publication licensed from the Spanish publisher RBA Revistas, and it's a collaboration with Burda Publishing House.
I bought it from Wildberries, but you can also check out Ashane for a better price - around 180-190 rubles. The price I paid was 220 rubles, which, while a bit steep, seems fair for the quality.
The magazine has 67 pages, which is a decent amount of content for a sewing magazine.

The pattern selection is a welcome change from the usual Burda Style models, which have been reusing the same old designs lately. I'm glad my eyes get a break from those familiar patterns in Patrones;
The size range is from 36 to 58, which is great, but keep in mind that each model is only available in three sizes, so you might not find a pattern in your size. Be sure to check the online version of the magazine before buying.
The highlight of each issue is an attempt to recreate a famous designer's item, which is a nice touch.
I was excited to see that issue 8 features models for kids, which is a great addition to the magazine.
The models in this issue are really attractive, with smiling mannequins showcasing the clothes on a beach or green background.
I really like that the patterns are printed on a matte, slightly rough paper - it's much easier to work with than the glossy paper in Burda. Plus, the contours of each model have their own color, making it super convenient!
What I don't like is that there are no recipes or skincare articles in this issue - that's what usually drives up the price! And, surprisingly, there's no advertising at all in this issue.
You can buy this magazine at newsstands or big supermarkets like Ashane. In fact, it's cheaper at Ashane - around 180-190 rubles.
But, it's not all sunshine and rainbows (although I couldn't judge the quality of the patterns and how well they fit on a person, since I wrote this review on the day I bought the magazine):
Don't be fooled by the large size range - each model is only available in three (!) sizes, so there's no guarantee that you'll find a pattern in your size! Make sure to check the online version of the magazine before buying, and don't buy it blindly (unless you're making it just for yourself or collecting magazines);
I was really disappointed with the tiny technical details in the pattern parade - they're way too small and blurry in Patrones compared to Burda.
Left - Burda's technical details, right - Patrones.What really stood out to me were the photos of the poorly finished garments - the waistline is all wonky or they just got the photo wrong. Either way, it's unacceptable for a sewing magazine.
The waistline's gone haywire compared to the straight line. I think plus-size sewists might be a bit disappointed - it's more of the same old thing.
Despite some drawbacks, I'd highly recommend Patrones magazine to buy!
Having detailed descriptions of the main components was a lifesaver for beginners like me. The breakdown and explanation of how it works was super helpful, too. I was also excited to see a sneak peek of the next issue - it looks amazing!
