Oral-B Vitality Pro Electric Toothbrush

I've been using the Oral-B Vitality Pro Electric Toothbrush for a while now, and I'm really impressed. It's designed for effective cleaning and gentle care, which is exactly what I need. The ergonomic handle fits perfectly in my hand, making it easy to maneuver and get to all areas of my mouth. The brush head is designed for optimal plaque removal and gum care, and the rechargeable battery provides long-lasting power. Plus, it's super easy to clean and maintain - a big plus in my book. I've been using it for a week and the build quality surprised me, the buttons feel solid and the battery lasts longer than I expected. It's a great value for money, especially considering the quality of the build and the ease of use.

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've tried a bunch of toothbrushes over the years, but the Oral-B Vitality Pro is hands down the best for getting rid of those pesky eight o'clock stains. As someone with a history of dental issues, I've been blown away by its ability to remove tough stains and plaque. Not only does it leave my teeth feeling squeaky clean, but it's also surprisingly gentle on my sensitive teeth. I've even noticed a significant reduction in tooth sensitivity since switching to this toothbrush. My only gripe is that it can be a bit loud, but honestly, it's a small price to pay for the results I'm getting. I've gone weeks without needing to recharge it, which is a major plus in my book. Plus, it's got multiple modes for tackling different oral care needs, which is super convenient. The ergonomic design fits comfortably in my hand, and it's easy to maneuver and clean hard-to-reach areas. I've also noticed that it leaves a bit of a residue on my teeth if I don't rinse thoroughly, but that's an easy fix. Hands Down, the Best Device for Removing Pesky Eight O'Clock Stains!
I've always been skeptical about electric toothbrushes, but after trying the Oral-B Vitality Pro, I'm convinced it's the best device for removing pesky eight o'clock stains. My teeth are a bit of a nightmare, with multiple fillings, restorations, and three teeth that are depuilped and restored. I was worried that an electric toothbrush would somehow shorten the lifespan of my fillings, but this toothbrush has been a game-changer.
Over the past year, I've been to see a few different dentists, and I've had two cavities and one pulpitis with a subsequent composite restoration. While the cost is a factor, what really matters is the dentist's ability to listen, and that's often lacking. I've even gone to a pricey clinic in Moscow, but they didn't exactly impress me.
My teeth are a real challenge, with some teeth having restorations that are already showing signs of wear, and I'm experiencing some issues with my bite. My teeth are pretty sensitive, and I have some teeth that are still sensitive even after fillings. I've even got some teeth that are starting to wear down, which is causing me some discomfort.
For example, one pulpitis treatment cost me a month's worth of salary in my region. I've been dealing with tooth issues for a while now, and after getting a filling on my third tooth last year, I realized I couldn't keep putting off the rest. The other teeth were in a state where they could wait, but I decided it was time to take control of my oral health.
I invested in a pricey toothbrush and a high-end toothpaste, hoping it would make a difference. However, as time went on, I started noticing that even with the expensive toothpaste, the pigmented plaque was still increasing (I drink two cups of coffee a day, which doesn't help). I also realized that the manual toothbrush wasn't doing a great job of removing the normal plaque around my gums, even after two minutes, sometimes more.
And to make matters worse, the front teeth on the other side still felt a bit rough. Overall, it's not terrible, except for a few problematic teeth with caries, but the pigmented plaque on my front upper teeth is really getting to me.
I recently became interested in electric toothbrushes and decided to go for a rotational one with a round rotating head. But which one to choose? Oral-B's website has a ton of different toothbrushes, and I've been listening to a bunch of reviews on YouTube. What worried me was that all the cheaper and older models are rotating with pulsation, or with micro-vibration.
It turns out there are purely rotational toothbrushes - that's the 2D technology, and it's Oral-B's Vitality series. I went for the Oral-B Vitality Pro in white. I ordered it online and picked it up at the Apoteka Gorzdrav pharmacy, where it cost me 3622 rubles with my loyalty card. The total amount without the card was 4155 rubles.
The brush came in a dark blue cardboard box with a picture of the brush itself. Inside the foam, you'll find the handle, one attachment in a sealed package, the charger, and a folded instruction manual - not a booklet, which isn't super convenient. I didn't get a holder for the attachments or a case, but I guess that's not a big deal.
First things first, you need to charge the brush: I plugged it in and waited for 22 hours for a full charge, which was a bit of a wait. What surprised me was that there's no indicator of the charging process, no LED light to let you know it's working. That's weird. The charger itself is long and pretty convenient.
First Impressions
I waited out the 22-hour charging timer and got ready for my first-ever electric toothbrush experience. I grabbed my usual toothpaste, which isn't great at cleaning but costs a pretty penny. I expected the brush to be louder, but it's actually pretty tolerable (on the first speed). I turned it on without any toothpaste and touched it with my finger - it didn't feel too harsh, so I'm hoping it'll be gentle on my teeth.
I applied a small amount of paste to the attachment and held it up to my front top teeth, pressed the power button. The first mode defaults to the most gentle, followed by two modes with more powerful rotations. The sensations weren't painful, and from the outside, my teeth felt comfortable to clean.
At first, I remembered the YouTube tips saying that with this rotating brush, you don't need to move it around, just hold it on your tooth - it'll do the rest. I brushed all my teeth like that, holding for a bit longer on some where I felt more plaque buildup.
I spent some time tongue-testing all the tooth surfaces - there's still a lot of plaque on every surface, and the 2 minutes for cleaning were long gone. So I decided to clean until I won! I applied the paste to the brush again and started to focus on each tooth for a bit longer, making small circular motions - that's when the cleaning really started to pay off, and the surfaces became smooth and plaque-free.
The brush managed to reach my upper molars, which are slightly angled towards my cheek. The worst part was cleaning the lower front teeth from the inside, it felt like my jaw was vibrating from a power tool. But I managed to get it done.
I compared the Before and After photos from the first cleaning - I didn't see any significant changes. The pigmented plaque was still there. I decided to switch to a more abrasive toothpaste. Another thing I noticed was that the brush can get food stuck in the gaps between my teeth, or under my gumline - after cleaning, I had to floss all my teeth again.
My gums didn't bleed after the procedure, although that's possible (according to the instructions). The first use was a letdown!
THE NEXT FEW DAYS OF USE
I was surprised to see that on the second day, my gums weren't bleeding, and my teeth weren't sore. The pigmentation on my front teeth is still there, but the teeth on my molars, especially the top ones, feel cleaner than they ever have.
The brush is great at getting into the tight spaces between my teeth, thanks to its small head, and it's really good at cleaning the outside of my molars, which are slightly angled towards my cheek. It took me around 4 minutes to clean my teeth, with breaks.
After my third cleaning, my gums weren't bleeding, and it was easier to get to a smooth surface, but overall, it still took me around 5.5 minutes to clean my teeth, with breaks. I made sure to cover all the areas.
I noticed that my top front teeth on the back side are now smoother, and they had a stubborn patch of pigmentation. It's like the stain is finally starting to fade.
THE NEXT FEW DAYS OF USE
I decided to take the plunge on day 5 and try the more powerful mode with higher brush speed. I only used this mode on the pigmented stains on my front teeth and some of the sides, as well as my lower molars. Compared to the soft regular mode, this one gets rid of the stains way faster – I couldn't even press down hard on the brush, it would slip out of my hand if I wasn't careful.
The teeth I cleaned with the second mode felt perfectly smooth to the touch. The pigmentation didn't disappear entirely, but it's definitely going to take some time to see the full results of my observations.
THE NEXT FEW DAYS OF USE
The brush still leaves a bit of residue on the first mode, which I can feel with my tongue on some of my teeth. My whole cleaning process with pauses and mode switches took around 8 minutes per session. I clean my teeth with an electric toothbrush once a day in the evening.
DAY 6
The lower the speed, the more vibration I feel. I've almost gotten used to the first mode, which has the lowest speed. Now I've been using the second mode for two days in a row – my teeth are getting cleaned faster, and I feel less vibration.
I tried the second mode on my upper molars, and it worked pretty well. I can feel my molars have finally 'breathed a sigh of relief' after 6 days of using this toothbrush – they were always getting stuck with the regular mode.
AFTER A WEEK
My gums don't bleed, and I've already gotten used to the second most powerful mode by the second day. It's only after that mode that I noticed a slight bleeding on about two teeth. My tooth sensitivity hasn't increased.
The pigmentation on my front teeth hasn't gone away, and I haven't noticed any significant changes. However, on my wisdom teeth, where I had a lot of brown plaque, I can see it slowly disappearing.
I've found a dentist who's willing to treat them, but I'm not planning to get them removed. I'm just not mentally prepared for the procedure – the anesthesia, the pain, and the fact that they'll have to treat the canals either now or later.
I also have some issues with my lower teeth, where the enamel is missing from the gum line. I can only imagine how painful the air flow will be. I'm not in a hurry to get them treated, either, because there's a high chance of cracks, and the more often my teeth are drilled, the more likely they'll recommend a crown or removal of the nerve.
I don't have any toothpaste. The toothbrush is still working fine, and I can take it on trips – I got two weeks of battery life out of it, and I didn't need to bring the charger.
The bristles on the green attachment turn yellow over time. Here's what they look like when they're fully yellow – it's a sign that the attachment is due for a replacement.
FINAL VERDICT
I'm glad I bought this toothbrush, now I can clean my back molars way better. The round head of the brush perfectly covers the farthest tooth, something a regular manual toothbrush with a long head can't do, and a monopick with deep fissures on the surface won't be much help without active rotation.
My expectations that this brush would completely remove all the pigmented coffee stains weren't met, but they're not getting worse – that's a relief. My teeth don't hurt, and my gums aren't bleeding. However, I don't use this as my main toothbrush, only to remove plaque after my regular toothbrush.
I'm not a fan of the lack of a light indicator – it's hard to tell when the battery is running out. But the manufacturer says it's okay to leave it on the charging station for as long as you want, without any harm, I guess there's some kind of limiter if the device is fully charged.
Still, the battery life is decent, sometimes it lasts me two weeks, sometimes a month (depending on usage). After six months of using this toothbrush, I bought separate whitening attachments with rubber inserts – they're not very comfortable to use, especially not for chewing surfaces, only for the sides.
Also worth mentioning is that although this 2D technology toothbrush only makes back-and-forth movements, and it's claimed to have micro-vibrations or pulsations, it just vibrates from rotation, so be prepared.
Those 3D-tech bristles do this crazy pulsing thing. They're perfect for people who don't have any issues with their teeth or sensitivity.
I didn't start with the most intense mode right off the bat – I eased into it over two weeks. To be honest, I'm really happy with this toothbrush and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good cleaning!
