I've had my fair share of colds and flu over the years, and I've learned that having a good humidifier at home can make a huge difference. I mean, who wants to be stuck with a stuffy nose and a hacking cough, right? But before I got my Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU), I was using all sorts of crazy methods to try and get better. Like, have you ever tried breathing in the steam from a just-cooked potato or a hot chamomile tea? Yeah, that's what we used to do back in the day, because we didn't have specialized machines for every household. But now, it turns out that's exactly what you need for the whole family.We used to borrow an inhaler from our neighbors, but that wasn't always convenient, so we ended up buying our own - the Omron compressor inhaler C17 (NE-C101-RU).
Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU) InhalerIt's designed to turn liquid medication into an aerosol for inhalation, following the recommendations of a medical professional. The device is recommended for treating a range of respiratory conditions, from chronic to acute: bronchial asthma and COPD, as well as bronchitis, bronchiolitis, croup, pneumonia, and complications from the flu and other viruses.
Where I bought it, price: I picked it up at the April pharmacy, but you can find it for a better price on various online platforms. The club price was 3610 rubles in the receipt, and now it's 3566 rubles.Production: Italy
I didn't do my research before buying, but I knew I needed an Omron because they're supposed to be reliable, and I needed a child and adult mask with the device. It's pretty straightforward, with just one control button most of the time. Although the instruction manual does mention a lot of other characteristics if you read it. The instruction manual for the Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU) inhaler is just a single sheet of paper. It even explains the principle of operation for the nebulizer chamber.
Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU) Inhaler Instruction ManualOmron C17 (NE-C101-RU) Inhaler Instruction ManualI recommend reading the instruction manual for a medical device before using it, just like you would with medication. There's an important note - you can't fill the inhaler or its nebulizer chamber with oils, teas, or herbal infusions.
You should also consider the contraindications for inhalations that are listed.
Using the device for children or people with disabilities should be done under constant supervision.
Inhalations are contraindicated:
1. When the temperature exceeds 37.5° C;
2. When there are nosebleeds or a tendency to them;
3. When there are lung or heart diseases with pronounced cardiovascular or respiratory insufficiency.
The Omron inhaler lifespan is promised by the manufacturer to be 5 years, provided you follow the conditions.
I use the device three times a day for 10 minutes at room temperature, which is around +23 degrees.
It seems pretty straightforward to maintain the temperature conditions, and I probably won't even need to use the nebulizer that often at home, so the lifespan might be longer. Still, there's a vague phrase -
The lifespan of the device may depend on the area of application it's used in.
So, there's a chance that if I try to return the device under warranty or complain to the manufacturer about the lifespan, I might get a response saying I'm an idiot for not using it correctly.
Anyway, home inhalers usually last a long time according to my friends' reviews and I'm expecting the same. I'm not counting on five years, but rather a much longer lifespan since it's only used a few times a year for a few days at a time. If it breaks exactly five years from now, I'll be pretty disappointed. I should probably ask in the comments for reviews from people who've had the device for five or more years and still use it, but I just grabbed it without checking that.
The Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU) package was only important to me for the masks, but it turns out it comes with other attachments for the mouth and nose as well.
Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU) in use
Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU) packageThe materials are all high-quality, the plastic isn't thin, and there's no unpleasant smell right out of the box. Well, except for that 'hospital' smell that some things get after being stored in a pharmacy for a while.
The power cord is standard, 220V, and the plug is long, which is convenient, although my outlet is right above my kitchen table, so I don't need to stretch it far.
Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU) power cordThe tube connecting the device to the medication chamber, which attaches to the mask and attachments, is also long.
To turn the device on and off, you just need to twist a small dial on the body. That's it, even a kid can manage it.
Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU) controlsMy experience with the device has been over half a year since I bought it, unfortunately, and I've already accumulated some serious use. Unfortunately, it was during a serious illness - tonsillitis, bronchitis, and complications from a cold.
Assembling the system is easy if you've ever used an inhaler or can read the manual. I don't see the point in explaining it here, it's a review, not a user guide.
I stick to the prescribed dosage of medications, which in our case were Ambrobene, Ambroxol, and we just used saline solution for inhalations.
The Nebulizer chamber has a scale in milliliters on the side, but I measure with the dropper that comes with Ambrobene.
Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU) Nebulizer scale on the cupF I use 5ml saline solution ampules, and I can just pour one if I'm only using it with saline and don't need to measure anything.The mask fits well on my face and my kid's, but my husband says it's too small for him, so he uses the plastic nozzle instead.
I prefer the mask, even though my face gets all wet under it. The mask has holes on the sides, and I can attach a rubber band to hold it in place.
Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU) reviewDuring inhalation, some residue might stick to the chamber walls, but it's nothing to worry about. After use, I always rinse the Nebulizer with running water and dry it.
Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU)Inhalations with saline solution really helped soothe my dry, hacking cough. Last November, I got a bad cold that turned into bronchitis, and the Nebulizer was a lifesaver.Actually, it's been a while since we've all needed it, but it's been a good investment for our family. We've had a few cases of the flu and other respiratory issues in our town, and it's been great to be able to treat ourselves promptly.
I used to think it was a waste of money, but now I realize it's better to spend less on unnecessary stuff and get something that really works.
We don't have any asthmatics in the family, and thank goodness we've never had any emergency situations where we needed something like a Pulmicort. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but it's reassuring to have a device that can help in case of an emergency.
Even if we don't need it for years, it's better to have it and not need it. And for us, it's already paid for itself over the past year – it's been a valuable addition to our household.
Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU) reviewWe're really happy with the Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU) Nebulizer, and we have no complaints. If only it was a bit cheaper, but that's not the Nebulizer's fault – it's the pharmacy's prices that are the issue.
I'd say the Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU) nebulizer isn't any louder than others.The bundle is super good, comes with all the essentials, different masks and attachments.The cord and tube are long, really convenient.It's built well with quality materials.The manual is super detailed, even includes contraindications for inhalations to minimize potential harm from DIY enthusiasts.
Nebulizer Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU) One thing that's completely blown me away is the complete lack of any significant downsides after 8 months of using the Omron C17 (NE-C101-RU) nebulizer. My husband's mask isn't the most comfortable, but I guess you can't have it all, right?
I'd definitely recommend this device to anyone looking for a good nebulizer. And if you're struggling with congestion and coughing, I'd also suggest getting an air humidifier - it makes a huge difference, especially during the dry winter months. We've had our air humidifier for a while now, and it's been a game-changer.
