Mixed Bag at Oasis Spa in Hurghada

Hello everyone, I'm sharing my review of the Oasis Spa in Hurghada.

I'll admit, I've been a bit skeptical of Turkish baths lately, especially the ones that cater to big groups of tourists. But after dealing with a sore back, I decided to give it a shot and book a treatment at the Oasis Spa, which I'd heard some great things about.

The spa is located on the outskirts of Hurghada, and I have to say, I was a bit turned around when I arrived - the wind was blowing pretty hard, and I wasn't exactly sure where I was. But as I walked in, I was greeted by the beautiful facade of the spa.

The interior is just as impressive, with a nice lobby and even a kids' zone - that was a nice touch. I was expecting a more traditional spa experience, but the Oasis Spa has clearly put thought into creating a welcoming atmosphere for families.

They also offer a welcome drink, which was a nice gesture - I opted for the hibiscus tea, but it was a bit too sweet for my taste. I appreciate the effort to make guests feel at ease, but perhaps they could offer a few more options for those who prefer less sweet beverages.

The "Cleopatra" spa program costs around 1000 EGP (20 USD) and includes a sauna, jacuzzi, salt room, masks, scrubs, and massage. This is a pretty comprehensive package that's definitely worth considering, especially for those looking to try a variety of treatments in one go.

The sauna and jacuzzi were nice, but not exactly the most impressive experiences.The salt room was a bit of a letdown - the room was small, and there was no shower available for cleaning off the benches.The shower area between the saunas didn't have any soap or shampoo, which was a bit inconvenient.The jacuzzi was a bit of a mess - the water hadn't been changed throughout the day, and the seats were uncomfortable to sit in. To make matters worse, the jets were all broken, and it was basically just a big tub of water.Next up was the Turkish bath, which was actually one of the highlights of my experience - my masseuse was nice, and the treatment itself was relaxing. However, things took a turn for the worse when they started applying the mask - they used the same brush for everyone, which was a major turn-off.

After that, I was taken to the waiting room, where they asked me about my hotel - apparently they were trying to figure out how I'd gotten there without a transfer. I told them I'd walked, and they looked confused. I understand that they might not have been expecting guests to walk from the city center, but it would be nice if they could accommodate those who prefer to walk or take public transportation.

The massage itself was a total letdown - it was basically just some guy rubbing some oil on me. I was expecting a lot more from the "Cleopatra" program, especially considering the price.

And to top it all off, they hit me up for a tip at the end - which, in my opinion, is just not cool. I understand that tips are customary in some cultures, but it feels like a way to take advantage of guests who are already paying a premium for the treatments.

So, was it worth it? Honestly, I don't think so. The spa's treatment process feels impersonal and rushed, and I'm not a fan of the conveyor belt-like system they use for some treatments. That being said, I've heard that Germans love this place, so maybe I'm just a picky American.

I would recommend the Oasis Spa to those who are looking for a more traditional spa experience, but I would caution against the "Cleopatra" program. Perhaps they could improve their treatment process and offer more personalized experiences for their guests.
