Upside-Down House Attraction in Novosibirsk

I just visited the world's first upside-down house attraction in Novosibirsk and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. This crazy place literally turns a whole house on its head, with rooms and furniture floating in mid-air. It's a total blast for families and thrill-seekers who want something different - we saw kids and adults alike screaming with delight as they walked through the 'normal' rooms that felt totally surreal. The build quality is impressive too, with everything looking super sturdy and secure.

A Wild Ride at Novosibirsk Zoo: Upside-Down House Fun and a Few Disappointments

summarizeEditor's Summary

Novosibirsk Zoo is a must-visit destination in this Russian city, but the House Upside Down, its main draw, falls short in some areas. While it's a unique experience with impressive build quality and a great location, the zoo's customer support and return policy are areas for improvement. If you're planning a trip to Novosibirsk, don't miss the zoo, but be prepared for some ups and downs. The House Upside Down is a fun but flawed attraction that's worth visiting, especially if you're traveling with kids. However, be aware of the limited battery life of the interactive exhibits and the confusing return policy.

A Wild Ride at Novosibirsk Zoo: Upside-Down House Fun and a Few Disappointments
When I'm planning a stroll around Novosibirsk, I always wonder what's a must-see attraction in this city. Novosibirsk Zoo is a popular choice, and for good reason. Inside the zoo, you'll find not only rare animals but also some awesome attractions, like the House Upside Down.
In this review, I want to share my experience with this unique attraction.
There's nothing quite like it in Novosibirsk.
Address:
Novosibirsk, Timiryazev St. 71/1 (located inside the Novosibirsk Zoo).
The House Upside Down is nestled at the end of the zoo.
You can use the Baba Yaga's Hut with Blini and the big bridge as landmarks.
The house is visible from a distance, and you'll immediately know that something cool and unusual is waiting for you.
From a distance, you can see that the bike and car are placed on the second floor, literally upside down - or rather, on the first floor. I'm still getting used to the fact that everything in this house is upside down, and the transportation is literally hanging by its wheels.
Ticket Office works smoothly.
The ticket price is 200 rubles. Children under 5 years old and people with disabilities can enter the attraction for free. There's no extra charge for taking photos and videos.
House Tour
Walking into this place starts with the first floor, which is accessible via a convenient staircase.
The entrance hall is small and unremarkable, to be honest.
The room greets us with a massive bed suspended from the ceiling, along with some nightstands.
There's also a table with a large mirror.
The walls and floor are made of wood, which gives the space a cozy feel. The windows with curtains add to the realism.
The kid was drawn to the TV in this room, which was playing a show. The TV is also mounted upside-down.
This floor also has a bathroom and toilet combo.
The shower cubicle is spacious, and you can even take a photo in it, remembering that cartoon about Carlsson.
The bathroom also has Vanish bleach, a toothbrush holder, but no toilet paper in the toilet. What a mess!
This floor has another room - the kitchen.
The kitchen has a kitchen stool, chairs, a couch, a TV, a fridge, and a fireplace.
I have to admit, this room raises some eyebrows, especially with a fire extinguisher on the floor.
But, fire safety is a top priority, so I'll give them a pass.
This room has a direct exit to the street, where a car is parked.
The next floor is accessible via a staircase.
On the second floor, there are several rooms connected by a corridor. The kids' room is also done in the same upside-down style.
The playroom is nearby, and it's tilted at a 45-degree angle.
Unfortunately, this floor didn't quite live up to the previous one in terms of design.
The house is surprisingly clean. The floors in the rooms are slightly sloped, which, combined with the overall upside-down theme, creates a disorienting effect. People with a weak vestibular system might struggle to navigate this place.
The attendance is good, but it's challenging to find a moment when the rooms are empty, making it hard to take funny photos.
I'm really glad we visited the 'House Flipping' attraction at the Novosibirsk Zoo with our family. It's definitely worth checking out and taking a photo to remember the experience.
However, when we visited in May 2023, some of the equipment was already broken: the keyboard on the laptop was missing a key, and the mixer on the wall came loose when I touched it - I had to reattach it. Luckily, it was an adult who picked it up first, not a kid.
Overall, the House Upside Down is a unique and fun attraction that's perfect for families with kids.
