NIVEA Make Up Expert Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover with Lily Extract

I've tried a bunch of eye makeup removers, but this NIVEA one really delivers. It's designed specifically for sensitive skin, and the addition of lily extract makes it super gentle. I've worn heavy eye makeup for a night out, and this remover gets it all off without leaving my skin feeling irritated or dry. It's perfect for everyday use, and the formula is effective without being harsh. The best part? It's gentle enough for daily use, so you can remove your eye makeup without worrying about stripping your skin of its natural oils. I've been using it for a while now, and I'm impressed with its performance and value for money - it's one of the best eye makeup removers I've ever used.

Disappointing Performance from NIVEA Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover

summarizeEditor's Summary

I was really looking forward to trying the NIVEA Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover, but unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The formula is a two-phase liquid, but it's not as effective as I thought it'd be. It's also quite harsh on my eyes, and I'm not a fan of the oily residue it leaves behind. I've tried using it a few times, but I still can't get rid of stubborn mascara. The packaging is pretty standard, but I wish it had a protective cap or seal to prevent tampering. I was surprised to see that Eco-logic didn't approve of three components in the formula, and it turns out they're not entirely harmless. The ingredients include Benzethonium Chloride, which can cause skin, eye, and respiratory irritation, especially in high concentrations, and may be toxic to the endocrine system. CI 60725 can cause eye irritation, and CI 61565 can cause skin and eye irritation. That's a pretty interesting twist - an eye makeup remover that's not recommended for use on eyes. I've tried using it as directed, but the result was underwhelming. I followed the instructions, but the remover didn't work well. I had to scrub my lashes hard to get rid of the remover, which just made things worse. And the worst part is, I had to wash my face immediately because the irritation was unbearable. So, in the end, it's not really a skincare product at all. I'm not recommending this product.

Disappointing Performance from NIVEA Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover
Hello everyone who's stopped by! Finding a good makeup remover can be tough, and every time I order a new one, I'm hoping for the best and thinking that this one will be better than the last. But sometimes it doesn't quite live up to expectations, like with the NIVEA makeup remover. I mean, the brand is well-known, and their products are generally pretty good, but this one was a disappointment.
I've come across some makeup removers that didn't work at all, but at least they didn't irritate my eyes. And then there are those that worked really well, but were super harsh on my peepers. But the NIVEA Double Effect makeup remover really surprised me - the effect was indeed double, but not exactly what I was hoping for.
Before I bought this one, I was using the Librederm eye makeup remover with chamomile extract, which I'd read about in a review by kittysweety2018. I liked the sound of it, and it worked pretty well too. It didn't sting my eyes, dried out my skin, and removed my regular mascara just fine. It even took off waterproof mascara, although I did have to rub a bit longer to get it off. But what I really wanted was for it to come off quickly and easily.
I headed over to Ozon, my go-to marketplace, to find a new makeup remover. As usual, I chose one with a high rating and lots of positive reviews. This one had a 4.9 rating and over 50,000 reviews, and it also happened to have chamomile extract, just like my previous one.
The NIVEA Double Effect eye makeup remover with chamomile extract is designed for makeup lovers, with formulas that allow skin to breathe. It's supposed to be the most effective in the NIVEA range, tackling any makeup - from basic to super water-resistant - without rubbing or leaving residue. The formula with chamomile extract and biotin looks after your lashes, and it's suitable for contact lens wearers. It's also dermatologically and ophthalmologically tested.
On the back of the bottle, you'll find information about the ingredients, usage, and the manufacturer. The ingredients include Aqua, Isododecane, C15-19 Alkane, Isopropyl Palmitate, Ethylhexyl Cocoate, Glycerin, Dicaprylyl Ether, Biotin, Centaurea Cyanus Flower Extract, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Hydroxide, Trisodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Benzethonium Chloride, CI 60725, and CI 61565.
I was surprised to see that Eco-logic didn't approve of three components in the formula, and it turns out they're not entirely harmless. Benzethonium Chloride can cause skin, eye, and respiratory irritation, especially in high concentrations, and may be toxic to the endocrine system. CI 60725 can cause eye irritation, so it's not recommended for use in eye products. CI 61565 can cause skin and eye irritation, so its use in eye cosmetics is not recommended due to potential harm.
The packaging has a standard screw-top lid, but I was surprised to find that the bottle doesn't have any protective cap or seal. When I picked it up from the store, it was just sitting there on the shelf with no packaging. That's a bit concerning, as it's possible for someone to tamper with the contents or even add something extra during shipping.
The formula is a two-phase liquid, with a clear separation between the two components. Before using it, I gave the bottle a good shake, but the formula quickly returns to its original state.
To use it, I soaked the cotton pads with the Double Effect eye makeup remover and applied them tightly to my eyes for 5 seconds. I repeated the process a few times, swiping the pads from the bottom up. I then used the pad to gently rub the outer corner of my eye. I kept doing this until I thought I'd removed all the mascara.
The first time I used it, I followed the instructions, but the result was underwhelming, so I left it on for an extra 20 seconds. I then repeated the process a few times, but I didn't notice much of a difference. I flipped the pads over and tried to scrub my lashes a bit harder and in different directions. Unfortunately, I still couldn't get rid of the mascara completely.
I have to say, this NIVEA Double Effect eye makeup remover with lavender extract was a total letdown for me. It completely failed to remove stubborn mascara, and it even just smudged it around my eyes, creating a panda-like effect. As a result, I had to wash my face with soap to get rid of it. Plus, it's super irritating to my eyes, and I'm curious how it passed dermatological testing with such a harsh formula.
As you can see, the double effect is indeed there, but unfortunately, it's not the one the manufacturer claims – it's supposed to remove not just regular makeup, but also extreme water-resistant makeup, and it's also supposed to be a lash care product. On both counts, it's a total failure. My lashes got all tangled and broken, and I had to scrub them hard to get rid of the remover, which just made things worse. And the worst part is, I had to wash my face immediately because the irritation was unbearable. So, in the end, it's not really a skincare product at all.
Let's be real, if you don't wet the discs enough, you'll still get some burning sensation, but it's pretty minimal. The thing is, if you wait too long to clean it up, the oily residue will start irritating the skin around your eyes.
I'm not recommending this product.
