Editor's Summary
The Newborn Kit bundle is a solid, no-frills package that's been unchanged for two years – and that's not necessarily a bad thing. It comes with a pretty useful bag that's perfect for carrying diapers and other baby essentials. I've been reusing this bag for other stuff, as I prefer using a backpack. The bag itself is made of thick material, has sturdy handles, a convenient zipper, and a pocket. It's a handy bundle, but it's not without its flaws.
Specifications
When I had my second kid, I was handed the same baby bundle I'd gotten two years prior when my first kid was born. The Newborn Kit is standard issue when you're discharged from the hospital. To be honest, the contents of the bundle haven't changed in two years – and that's not a bad thing.
The bundle comes in a bag that's actually pretty useful. You can reuse it for carrying diapers and other baby essentials. I've been using this bag to store other stuff, as I prefer using a backpack.
The bag itself is made of thick material, has sturdy handles, a convenient zipper, and a pocket. It's actually pretty handy.
When I first opened the bundle, I noticed a seal on the zipper. I'm guessing this is because the bundle hadn't been opened before – it was still sealed.
Everything inside was complete and in great condition, which was a relief. The bundle included a baby blanket, a corner towel with embroidery, a combination set and hat, footed romper, leg warmers, and a hat, and a smoke detector.
There was a label with detailed information attached, stating that the bundle was made in Ufa. It's nice to know where things come from – it's always good to support local businesses.
Manufacturer: GUP BHP "Agidel" RB.
The baby blanket is a thick, plush blanket that's perfect for smaller babies (up to 2-3 years old). Unfortunately, my kid outgrew it by the time they were two years old, and it ended up being too heavy and uncomfortable for them. The blanket has been collecting dust ever since.
The corner towel with embroidery was initially soft and absorbed water well, but after multiple washes, it wasn't as soft as it used to be. And to be honest, it was a bit small – it lasted us for about 3-4 months. Plus, there's no hood, which isn't super convenient. So, I ended up buying a bigger towel with a hood.
The combination set and hat has nice and soft material, but it stretches a lot and loses its shape quickly. The buttonholes are also not reinforced, so they get frayed fast. The combination set is a bit too big for newborns – it's 56 cm long. We wore it around 4-5 months.
Again, the size of the footed romper, leg warmers, and hat is not suitable for newborns. My kid wore this set a few times – they were around 3 months old. The romper was a bit uncomfortable for them. Overall, the material is nice and soft, not synthetic.
The smoke detector comes with a battery, which was a nice touch. I easily inserted the battery and installed it in the kitchen. Over time, it got dusty, and to my surprise, the smoke alarm went off due to the dust. It's really loud – you can hear it throughout the house.
To be honest, not everything in this gift set for newborns was useful or appealing to me. It was a bit of a mixed bag.
