My Honest Take on the Nagatinskaya Fitness Club Pool

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been going to the SSSR Fitness Club on Nagatinskaya for a few months now, and I've got a pretty solid sense of what to expect. The pool area is huge, but it's not always as busy as you'd think. I love that it's super well-maintained, with plenty of room to swim laps or just chill by the water. One thing that's been a bit of a letdown is the customer support - it's not always easy to get help when you need it. Still, the value for money is pretty good, especially considering the location. It's a solid choice for anyone looking for a decent gym experience in the area.

Hello everyone who's stopped by!
I've been going to the SSSR Fitness Club on Nagatinskaya (Hlebozavodsky Passage) for a few months now, so I've got a pretty solid sense of what to expect.
The SSSR Fitness Club on Nagatinskaya is located in the RTTS business center building, which also houses Synergy University. You can find it at Moscow, Hlebozavodsky Passage, 7, building 10.
Getting there is pretty straightforward. If you're driving, it's easiest to get to Kausherka, then take the bus and walk for another 10 minutes. Alternatively, take the tram from Nagatinskaya or Kolomenskaya and walk for 20 minutes. I usually park on the paid parking lot, but not right next to the building. From there, it's a 5-7 minute walk.
Enter through the revolving doors, turn left, and you'll see a small door on your right with a sign that reads 'SSSR Fitness Club'. At the reception, they'll hand you a card, give you a key to your locker, and a towel.
For the past two weeks, I've been noticing this sign: 'Towels are not provided'. The worst part is that you only find out about the lack of towels when you arrive at the club. There's no notification from the administration. So, if you show up without a towel, you can just turn around and leave, because you won't have anything to dry yourself with after your shower.
The dressing rooms are standard, with lockers that shut with a key. There were 2 powerful hair dryers by the sinks, but one of them stopped working, so I'm left with just one. It's not enough, especially during the winter when it gets really busy, unless they replace it.
Some of the mirrors between the lockers have additional hair dryers, but they're really weak. The shower area is clean, but there's a used band-aid on the pool's edge that I saw last week and it was still there today.
The pool itself isn't new, but it's still got some life left in it. I didn't notice anything critical or falling apart, though. There are 3 lanes, with the left one used for training (when they're available), the middle one for speed swimming, and the right one for all other types of swimming.
They've also got all the extra stuff you need for swimming, but there's a sign saying that the equipment is only for training. Although I've seen people taking the boards and dumbbells, so I guess it's okay.
There's also a kids' pool for little ones, a Turkish hammam, Finnish sauna, and saltwater bath (all included in the membership). They've even got ice baths.
The cleaning staff come by regularly to clean the floor, showers, and pool. There's a reception area and a small cafe nearby.
As for cleanliness: I only use the pool, so I can only speak to that. The locker rooms are clean, and the pool itself is too. However, it's just certain areas that are cleaned regularly.
The staff are always friendly and welcoming. There's a lifeguard on duty in the pool all day, and with the membership, you get one personal training session with an instructor.
The crowd is mostly older folks, with some middle-aged people and very few young kids. Even in the summer, the pool is usually populated. I went on a Sunday at 7 am once, and there were still people there. Sometimes, you'll find yourself swimming alone - it's all up to chance.
Of course, there are some drawbacks to the pool, but it's up to each person to decide how important they are.
