Hello everyone, I'm sharing some car talk today!
I wanted to give you my thoughts on the original Hyundai/Kia oil filter.
Hyundai/Kia 26300-35505.You can see the number on the photo above - it fits different models, but we're installing this filter on my Hyundai Getz.
Let's talk about the product first. Honestly, we don't often buy original filters. If there are cheaper alternatives, we go for those. But this time, the choice was limited. The manager offered a super cheap, Chinese-made filter for around 300 rubles, but we immediately ruled that out. Then there was Mann, which we wanted to get, but it was even pricier than the original - around 630 rubles. And the third option was the original, which, as you've probably guessed, is what we ended up buying, paying 520 rubles.
Now, about whether it's a fake or not. I don't think so - you can easily replicate the cardboard box, but the filter itself is harder to fake. For example, if you take a closer look at the photo above, you'll see a yellow arrow pointing to the Hyundai logo on the rubber grommet. There's also a red arrow showing the same logo on the inside of the filter. Plus, a green arrow points to the letter 'Y', which, I've read online, stands for the first letter of the factory where the product is made. And, as you can see, the filter has a ribbed edge on the inside, all the holes are perfectly made, and the gasket is defect-free.
Another plus is the graphical sticker on top, which shows the Earth with moving continents when you turn it. Based on all these details, I'm pretty sure this filter is the real deal.
Hyundai/Kia 26300-35505. Next up, replacing the oil filter. Honestly, it's not rocket science - we just drain the old oil and take out the old filter.
Hyundai/Kia 26300-35505. Hyundai/Kia 26300-35505. Next, we take the new one, remove the protective film, and get to installing. Now, the question is - do we need to fill it with oil? Honestly, my husband and I have done a lot of our car repairs ourselves. We've changed the oil filter in our car engine before, watched plenty of videos, read reviews, and decided to do it our way. Maybe back in the day, when oil was thicker, you needed to fill it up, but now oil is pretty thin, and we don't see the need.
Hyundai/Kia 26300-35505. But to avoid any debate, we'll just add a little oil, just enough to moisten the filter element, and that's it.
Hyundai/Kia 26300-35505. Plus, we'll just apply a tiny bit of oil to the rubber gasket.
Hyundai/Kia 26300-35505. After that, we move on to installation.
Hyundai/Kia 26300-35505. I have to say, we hand-tighten the filter, without any tools. Literally, it's just a matter of how much strength you have - my husband usually lets me handle this part since I'm not as strong.
Hyundai/Kia 26300-35505. The thing is, over time, the rubber gasket will likely expand a bit, and you might struggle to remove the filter without a special key or a tool. But, if you tighten it a bit more, you should be able to remove it easily next time.
So, to sum it up, the filter does its job well, and I'd recommend it. However, it's not particularly impressive. If you have the chance to get a cheaper, yet quality filter, why not?
I've gotta say, good luck out there on the road and all the best!
Gazpromneft Promo really surprised me - it cleaned my engine like a charm! The Parktronik Sho-Me has been a lifesaver when parking in reverse - it's super reliable!
I was expecting a bad brush, but the price was just right and it's easy to use - minus the fact that it doesn't work well in wet snow.
The Delo Tekhniki oil filter remover is a game-changer - even if you've got awkwardly-placed filters, this tool will get the job done!
I've been using RAVENOL transmission oil for years, and I can confidently say it's tough to fake - the multiple safety features on the canister really make it stand out!
