Editor's Summary
I recently got my hands on the AlphaPet WOW, and I've got to say, it's a decent choice for pet owners. However, I do have some concerns about its performance and durability. In this review, I'll share my honest thoughts on this product, including its pros and cons.
Specifications
I've been on the hunt for a good cat food that won't break the bank for a long time. Quality imported cat foods are either super hard to find or way too pricey.
I settled on AlphaPet WOW with chicken and giblets from what was available at the pet store. I read the ingredient list, asked the salesperson for their opinion, and decided to give it a shot.
I bought it at Zooptrorg.
The price was 950 rubles.
The weight was 1.5 kg.
The food class is super premium.
The manufacturer is Russia.
It's also available in 350g, 750g, and 7kg packaging.
I got this food for free, but you can find it cheaper on marketplaces. Details here.
Packaging
The packaging is pretty eye-catching and colorful, with a picture of a grey cat. It's quite dense.
AlphaPet WOW with chicken and gibletsThe back of the package has all the details about the ingredients, including macro and microelements, and the manufacturer.
AlphaPet WOW with chicken and gibletsIngredients
Meat ingredients 44.5%, including fresh meat 10% (chicken, pork by-products), dehydrated poultry meat 32%, wheat, rice 15%, dried beet pulp, animal fat, hydrolyzed chicken liver, yellow corn, vitamin-mineral mix, brewer's yeast, fish oil, AlphaPetBIO® complex (green-lipped mussel, calendula, dandelion, flaxseed, chicory, bilberry, Yucca schidigera, rosemary), taurine, DL-methionine, antioxidant.
I'm happy with the ingredients, but I'm not a fan of the wheat in the mix. As far as I know, it's not super well digested.
There are also some recommendations for feeding and transitioning to this food from another.
AlphaPet WOW with chicken and gibletsOne thing I don't like is that there's no zip lock. I'm using a binder clip to keep the package closed.
AlphaPet WOW with chicken and gibletsAppearance
The food looks pretty good - round, slightly flattened granules about 1 cm in diameter, brown in color.
AlphaPet WOW with chicken and gibletsThey don't crumble, aren't greasy, and have a pleasant smell.
My Experience
We have a spayed Scottish fold, 11 years old.
AlphaPet WOW with chicken and gibletsI added AlphaPet to her food gradually, as recommended on the package. After a week, she fully transitioned to this food.
My cat likes it, eats it with pleasure from the first day. We now have another cat, and she prefers AlphaPet to her previous food.
Her stool is regular, and the smell is standard.
There were no changes in her behavior.
She doesn't constantly come to the bowl, so she's eating enough.
After about a month of consuming this food, I noticed hairballs on her back, just above the tail. I brushed her, and a few days later, I found more hairballs.
AlphaPet WOW with chicken and gibletsI'm not sure if it's related to the food, but this never happened before. Our cat is very clean.
In general, I'm satisfied with the food, but I'm not sure if we'll continue buying it or try another food from the same manufacturer.
