I'm excited to share my experience using the 'Net' social network, a platform that's been on my radar since I saw an ad in the [link] app.
xa0
As I dug in, I learned that this social platform positions itself as a networking site from [link], aimed at professionals and creatives who want to expand their professional networks.
xa0
Networking is all about building and maintaining professional and useful connections. It's about creating a network of contacts that helps you tackle work and life challenges, share experiences, find partners, clients, or even a new job. Networking can happen both online and offline, through social media and professional platforms.
xa0
Their tagline is: 'a social network for networking from [link], helping you connect with the right people and unlock new professional opportunities.'
xa0
Launched in June 2024, this platform was created to help IT, digital, and creative communities expand their professional networks. Keep in mind that it's not designed for workers in specific industries, and that's explicitly stated.

Here's a response from their support team:

On my end, I'd say the platform is still a bit rough around the edges. But I'll dive into the details of that later. First, let me tell you how I ended up here.
xa0
I signed up for Net after seeing the ad, and my experience on the platform has been relatively short – about a month and a half so far. But I'll keep updating my review as new features are added.
xa0
Now, let me walk you through what it's like to use Net. And let me tell you, it looks amazing! I'd give a big thumbs-up for the design – it's really stylish, and the dark theme is a plus for me, even though I'm not a developer.
xa0
Here are a few screenshots to give you an idea of just how visually appealing it is.
Networking social network "Grid" Networking social network "Grid" At first glance, the dark theme might throw you off, but personally, I'm a fan of it – it's sleek and modern.

One thing that struck me is the mixed bag of content on this platform. Sometimes it's engaging, sometimes it's a total snooze-fest, and occasionally it's just plain nonsense.
Grid social network content Honestly, I'm not sure how useful this platform is, but I think it's up to each individual to decide for themselves what's worth reading and what's not.
Networking social network "Grid" I've noticed that the more provocative topics tend to get more engagement – and I've written about them, although not very often. Unfortunately, that's led to some pretty nasty comments, complete with accusations of 'токсичность' – a term I'm not a fan of.
xa0
There's plenty to discuss about this, but to be honest, after 25 years of trying to make a living as a freelancer, I'm just tired of it all. But that's not what I'm here to talk about today.
While there are some things about 'The Grid' that are worth mentioning, it's not like it's a waste of time – after all, the creator made this platform to discuss issues with the Russian job market, and there are plenty of problems to go around.
The 'gripiness' of the app, which I mentioned at the beginning, is all about the little things that are just frustrating, like how hard it is to write comments on posts. The comment box is way too small, so when you try to add a new comment, you end up accidentally subscribing instead.
Check out the screenshot to see what I mean about the tiny comment box.
And then there are the random changes that happen to your posts after you publish them. I'll be looking at my post, and suddenly the font will change or some new symbol will show up that I've never seen before.
Let's just say that I'm constantly emailing their support team about these kinds of issues. They're actually pretty responsive, but a bit lazy and not super attentive.
The app has personal messages, too, which I've gotten a few times with some pretty underwhelming offers.
I get a lot of messages, but the work they're offering is all pretty shady. Like, they're looking for a tester for some financial literacy course, but it's all about bartering. Not exactly what I'm looking for.
I mean, financial literacy is great and all, but it's not going to help me out at this point. And bartering? That's just the way things are going these days, unfortunately.
You can create your own community in 'The Grid', not just a personal blog. But I'm writing under my own name, so I don't really need communities... yet.
Networking communities on social mediaI've only been using the platform for a short while, but I've been impressed with the variety of post types available – you can create regular posts, ask questions, share events with highlights, or even job vacancies or resumes.

'The Grid' for those looking for workRecently, a new section on trends was added – I'm hoping to get featured there sometime and share my thoughts.
The social media gridYou can also customize targeting and view post view statistics on the platform – I don't personally use these features, but I think they'd be super useful.

As a new user, I don't know much about the community or content yet.
xa0
I have to admit, the tech world can come across as a bit insincere and superficial, which gets on my nerves when it comes to blogging. Writing about issues that matter in a community that's all about rainbows and unicorns can be tough, and the feedback isn't always encouraging.
xa0
I genuinely believe that highlighting a problem isn't about being a bad person or toxic, as some people would say.
xa0
I love writing in a postmodern style, and that's probably just a vibe from a bygone era. As they say, we're not that different...
xa0
Overall, I think the idea of an app or project for connecting people around a specific interest is a great one, and it deserves to be developed.
xa0
What's also bugging me is how some users of the platform view certain professions, like working on a production line or as a sales associate. It feels like working in those roles is somehow less cool, according to some users.
xa0
And it seems like the platform itself is either indifferent or even perpetuating this negative attitude. I'll share more of my thoughts on this when I write about the topic.
xa0
I'll be updating this review as I go, so stay tuned! Not done yet!
