Why I Needed This App

I'll be honest, learning in a driving school can be a total nightmare, especially if you've never done it before. I mean, I had no idea how it all worked until I started taking classes myself. Everyone I knew who had gone through it before either did it a long time ago or didn't go into much detail.

But having this app actually made a huge difference, especially when it came to signing up for classes, getting updates, and studying theory and extra materials. So, the app is mainly for the driving school to communicate with students and vice versa.

Driving School Control App
I want to mention that not all driving schools use this app. I know a few big schools in my area are connected to this system, but a lot of smaller ones aren't, preferring old-school messengers and phone calls instead. I think it's because the schools pay for the app, but as a student, I only pay for classes, not the app. Although, I think it's a fair price to pay for the convenience. But, anyway, it's a much more convenient approach than constantly calling the manager to figure out when our classes are and when we have free time slots. That's exactly what I wanted to share with you.Driving School Control AppAuthorization

I want to note that you can't just use the app without being a student at one of the driving schools. You need to be registered in the app first. This isn't just a theory prep app for the DMV, I just wanted to clarify that so there's no confusion.

The registration process is pretty straightforward - the driving school sends you a login and password, you enter it once in the app, and you're good to go. You won't need to log in again for the rest of your classes, so you'll have access to all the features. The app isn't password-protected, and that's not really necessary since there's no sensitive information in there.Driving School Control AppSections

When it comes to the app's content and functionality, the first and most useful feature is the class schedule. It's a calendar where you can see a list of available time slots for each instructor, and you can plan ahead for up to a month. Of course, there's no point in planning too far in advance, but it's still nice to have the option. What I do recommend is planning ahead, especially if you want to get a good time slot. If you want to get a good time slot before your exams, you should plan ahead even more - up to three weeks in advance, if possible.

Theory section
I've talked about theory a lot already, and I'll say it again - it's a crucial part of learning to drive. This section is perfect for beginners, and it's a must-have for anyone just starting out. Yes, different driving schools will have different materials, but it's always best to start with the basics. Plus, it's super helpful to see what's available and where to find it. The materials are organized into folders, and you can easily find the ones you need. Theory section
Payment is another important section to keep track of what you've paid and what you still owe. I paid for my driving lessons in two installments, 50/50, and I also paid for theory lessons separately when I first signed up. Some people pay for each lesson individually, and they get a separate receipt for each one. To avoid getting confused, this section makes it easy to track what you've paid and what you still owe.

Communication is a bit of a mixed bag - I'll get to that later. On the one hand, it's a convenient feature, but on the other hand, it's also where I've encountered the most bugs in the app.

Personal info is where you'll find details about your learning progress, including when you've completed your theory lessons, your group number, and other important info. I recommend checking everything out ahead of time to avoid any issues down the line, especially when it comes to taking your exams. These details will be shared with the authorities, so it's essential to get it right.

Theory sectionWhat I used most often

I used almost every feature in this app, and most of them were really helpful. But the feature I used the most was the lesson scheduling module. I'll talk more about it later, but basically, it's a lifesaver when it comes to taking your exams. I was constantly checking to see when my instructor had free slots available.

I also used the collected documents and lectures a lot, and I even used the app to solve practice questions. The way the app links questions to the relevant modules is really helpful, so I used it all the time. Plus, it's great that you can see your instructor's phone number right in the app, so if you get lost, you can quickly get in touch with them and sort things out.

Driving School Control AppBooking Lessons

I've gotta say, the lesson schedule with my instructor is the most convenient part of the app. It's a calendar view that shows when I can book a driving lesson and what time slots are available. It's super helpful, especially when you need to fit in extra practice before a test. You can see who your instructor is, their car number, phone number, and even a photo, just in case you need to reach out.

I can also cancel a lesson if I need to – for example, if I've booked a lesson but can't make it. Just cancel it, and another student can take my spot. You can only cancel a lesson up to 24 hours in advance, though – if it's less than 24 hours, you're stuck with it.

Driving School Control AppBooking lessons in the app itself is a bit of a hassle, to be honest. You need to go through the admin or your instructor to book a time slot. You browse the available times, then send a message to the admin to book it. It's not super complicated, but it would be nice if you could book lessons directly in the app.

Driving School Control AppChats

Chats are a huge part of the app, and I've found them super convenient. All the chats are in one place, so you can easily see what's going on and ask questions. The response time is usually pretty good, but it depends on the school's admin – in my case, it was a bit slow towards the end when they had a new batch of students.

You can turn off notifications for new messages, but I wouldn't recommend it – you don't want to miss important updates about lesson cancellations or changes. It's worth keeping an eye on the chats for any updates from the school.

Driving School Control AppTheory Files and More

The theory section of the app is pretty well done, to be honest. It's probably where the school uploads the theory info, but it's been a huge help in getting me through the theory test on the first try.

One thing I loved about this app is that it had all the essential info about what to expect during the driving school process, including the rules and medical requirements. It also had a ton of theory content, including videos and text-based materials, as well as a module with practice tests that I could take right after covering a particular topic.

Driving School Control AppThe app also had a super useful feature where it stored videos of instructors driving and narrating routes that might come up during the exam. This was a total game-changer for me when I was prepping for my exam. Plus, it had all the other important info about how the exam works, what to bring, how to pay the fee, and how to register. Having all this info in one place saved me so much time and stress, and I didn't have to scour the internet or ask friends who took their exam years ago.

Driving School Control AppMy experience taking the driving test

Looking back, I think my biggest problem was that I was too hard on myself. I started driving school in the spring and thought I'd have my license by the summer. Yeah, right! And when I failed the internal exam for the first time, I was really disappointed. I tried again, but it didn't go well the second time either. Now I realize that I wasn't ready, and instead of taking extra lessons or practicing more, I kept trying to pass the internal exam. But after my second failure, I finally took a step back and realized I needed to take a different approach. I switched instructors and ended up with someone who was really good at identifying my mistakes. We went over a new route, and on our first lesson together, he pointed out some major issues I had that I hadn't even noticed despite having driven over 56 hours. After a few more lessons with him, I finally passed the internal exam, and five days later, I passed the GAI test on my first try.

Driving School Control AppOf course, there were moments when I felt frustrated and doubted my ability to drive, but it's not true. While there are some people who may not be cut out for driving, it's a minority. And even those who think they're not good drivers may have just had a bad instructor who couldn't teach them properly.

Driving School Control AppI've been driving for three months now, and yeah, every time I get behind the wheel, I'm a nervous wreck. I still don't feel totally comfortable with the car, and I find myself hitting potholes with my wheels way too often, even though I'm trying to avoid them. When I'm driving in the city and everyone's zooming past me at 90, I stick to the speed limit and drive in the far left lane. But in my pocket, I've got a lifeline - the card that took so much time, effort, and money to get.

Driving School Control AppHow this app helped me

Now, let's get to some real-life hacks, including this app. I used to try to memorize all those 800 questions, but honestly, it was a pain. And when it came time to put my knowledge to the test, I found it way harder than I expected. I mean, you need to understand what all those signs mean, not just memorize them.

What worked for me was a simple system. I'd watch the video lessons, listen to examples, and then take the practice test right away. If I got stuck, I'd go back and rewatch the video. Two days later, I'd take the test again, and usually, the answers stuck. I did this for each topic, and before I knew it, I was a pro at answering those questions. When it came time to take the actual test, I was confident and didn't have any problems.

Driving School Control AppAnother thing I noticed was that there are patterns in the questions. For example, in every topic, the first 10 questions that mention 'visibility' always have the correct answers. But after that, it's a different story. These little hacks helped me in a pinch, but you can only spot them if you've actually put in the work and studied the material.

Driving School Control AppGlitches

The only real issue I had with this app was the chat feature. I don't know what was going on, but I'd get a notification that I had a new message, but when I opened it, it'd be empty. It wouldn't show up unless I refreshed the page or closed and reopened the app. Weird, right?

One thing that really gets my goat is when I'm waiting for something, like a schedule or exam info, and it just doesn't show up. I'll spend the whole day waiting, and then suddenly the notification icon pops up, and I open the app, and it's just blank. I have to refresh, log out, log back in, and sometimes it still doesn't show up. It's super frustrating. But maybe the app will get better and fix this issue.

Auto School Control AppIs it useful?

Of course, this app is super useful for people who have just started driving school.

From my experience, when you're just starting out, there's just so much information coming at you, and you can't afford to miss anything, or it might cause problems later on. You get hit with both theoretical and organizational stuff, and it's all important. When you're getting close to the driving test, it's easy to get confused about where to register, what to bring, and where to pay. This app really helps make life easier. I'm glad my driving school uses something like this.

Auto School Control AppVerdict

As for the app itself, it's not bad, but there are still some occasional errors, like with the chats, and sometimes the extra classes don't show up in the app, even though they're listed. So, I'd give the app four stars. As for recommending it, I definitely would, but it depends on the driving school. Some places might not want to make it easier for students.
