A Wild Ride with Monster: The Boston Beauties Series Takes a Crazy Turn

summarizeEditor's Summary

I dove headfirst into Monster, the third book in the Boston Beauties series, and let me tell you - it's a wild ride. This erotic romance is packed with drama, comedy, and suspense, and I'm not even kidding when I say it's crazier than the first two books. L.J. Shen has a knack for crafting relatable characters and storylines that'll keep you on the edge of your seat. If you're a fan of romance with a healthy dose of everything, you'll love this book. But be warned: it's not for the faint of heart. With its non-stop action, humor, and drama, Monster will keep you hooked from start to finish. I loved watching Ashling Fitzpatrick navigate the dark world of the Boston Beauties, and the chemistry between her and her love interest is undeniable. The plot is expertly woven, with twists and turns that'll keep you guessing until the very end. The supporting cast is equally well-developed, with each character bringing their own unique flavor to the story. The writing is engaging and immersive, making it easy to get lost in the world of the Boston Beauties. But be prepared for some heavy themes, including trauma and abuse - while handled sensitively, it can be triggering for some readers. Overall, Monster is a wild and intense ride that's not to be missed.

Book: Monster Series: Boston Beauties Author: L.J. Shen Tropes: No idea Genre: Erotic Romance with a healthy dose of drama, comedy, and suspense
Passion is fleeting, love remains. Passion is impatient, love waits. Passion burns, love warms. Passion exhausts... And love? Love kills. S.O.B.
This book is a non-stop rollercoaster ride, packed with action, humor, and drama. I mean, the third book in the Boston Beauties series is even crazier than the first two - and that's saying something!
Plot:
Who are you? – I asked, barely above a whisper. – Monster. – No, I'm serious, – I replied. – That's true. I thrive in the darkness. My job is to instill fear, and for some people, I'm a real nightmare. Like all monsters, I take what I want.
This book is all about Ashling Fitzpatrick, the youngest and most morally sound of the Fitzpatricks - a title that's definitely up for debate, given their family background. She's a doctor, and an all-around great person.
Guys like me eat girls like you for breakfast. And not in a nice way. Got it?
Sam Brennan is a total player. He's got no morals, no soul, just a pretty face and a fat bank account. No wonder everyone calls him 'Monster'. He's the real deal - a man who hates women and has sworn off love. That is, except for his adoptive mom, sister, and her daughter. Everyone else, he can't stand. He knows Ashling's in love with him, and successfully ignores her. And to make matters worse, the Fitzpatricks are paying Sam to stay away from Ashling. But as they say, man proposes, God disposes.
– Got a girlfriend? – I blurted out. Sam smirked, pinching his cigarette between his white teeth. – Don't worry about it. I'll never have a girlfriend. – Why not? – Because no woman is worth it, especially not the daughter of a man I want to drain dry.
This book is a real page-turner. The author's weaving in characters from other books, making it feel like a series rather than a standalone novel. There's so much going on that you'll never get bored. The chemistry between Sam and Ashling is undeniable - although it's not exactly my cup of tea. What I love most about this book is the dynamic. One minute something's happening, the next, it's something entirely different. You can't predict what the characters will do or how they'll react in any given situation. The sex scenes are hot, hot, hot - sometimes to the point where I was laughing out loud or shouting in frustration, even me, a seasoned reader.
I may be a killer, the leader of a crime syndicate, and a morally bankrupt individual, but when it comes to my adoptive mom, I'm putty in her hands.
Verdict:
I loved this book for its depth and complexity. There's so much more to it than just the romance between Sam and Ashling. You get to explore their psyches, their traumas, and the aftermath. Every character has their own story to tell, making them feel so real. And the way the author describes their traumas is raw, honest, and thought-provoking - it makes you think about your own life, your own triggers. I'm hooked on this series. Each book is more complete, more polished than the last. Kudos to the author!
Go for it!
One thing that really stood out to me was the way the author tackled some really heavy themes, like trauma and abuse. It's not always easy to read about, but it's so important that it's being discussed. The author does a great job of making the characters feel real and relatable, even when they're doing things that are hard to understand.
Another thing I appreciated was the way the author wove in characters from previous books. It's always fun to see familiar faces and catch up on what's been going on in their lives. It adds an extra layer of depth to the story and makes it feel more like a series.
Of course, no review would be complete without mentioning the romance. Sam and Ashling's relationship is complex and multifaceted, and it's not always easy to predict what will happen next. But that's part of what makes it so compelling - you're always on the edge of your seat, wondering what will happen next.
I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance with a lot of depth and complexity. It's a wild ride, but it's worth it in the end.
