Editor's Summary
We recently switched our cat from 1st Choice Sterilized to Monge, and it's been a total game changer. The quality of his fur has improved significantly, and he loves the taste of it. We're not sure what happened with the previous brand, but it seems like Monge has won him over. The only downside is the packaging could be a lot easier to open - it's a real struggle to get into. We're really happy with the switch and would recommend Monge to any cat owner looking for a high-quality option.
Specifications
We're not here to sell you on Monge, but we're still pretty impressed.
We used to feed our cat 1-st Choice Sterilized, but he had some serious questions about it.Was it because the production moved from Canada to Russia? Our cat isn't biased towards foreign products - we praise our Russian ones too.
Or had it just become unappetizing? Whatever the reason, our cat just wasn't into it anymore.
Time passed, and this too passed.
Our cat started looking hungry again, and we knew it was time to try something new.
You come home, and Masik pours out all the drama - the whimpers, screams, and banging on the table.
He demands to be fed immediately, without any delay.
'SOS! Feed me!' - and he bangs with desperation, using the bowl as a drum.
Our Story with Monge FoodWe took our cat to the vet, and we're switching to a new food. And immediately, the house becomes quiet-quiet, someone's starving.
Only the sound of chewing is heard. Monge is our favorite, and we rush to get more.
At first, we gave Monge as a treat, when we came home and hadn't even had time to take off our shoes, and the Highness would meet us, meowing, asking for food in the fourth bowl, scolding us for being away for so long, and asking to be fed.
We did that until we realized that the food was fine, and we'd grown quite fond of it.
We looked, and our cat was gaining weight (not just weight, but a healthy glow), his fur was silky, shiny, and it sparkled in the sun.
We Made a Decision: we're switching to a new food, especially since Fest Chois has become completely ignored. Its flaws have increased many times over, the production is now somewhere in Russia, packaged on some warehouse shelves, so this mentioned food has suffered the same sad fate as Royal Canin. There, things are also not going smoothly. The thing is, if we put it into words, there's at least one reason why we don't trust Russia (I'm still talking about food). Vets give us hints, and salespeople in Lemerre agree - there's a unanimous opinion that foreign pet foods have fewer CHEMICALS added.
That's why - only imported. It's essential for us to have Murchalovo Mohnatoye with us, alive and healthy.
So, our choice fell on Monge from the Italian manufacturer.
Monge Cat Urinary Food for Preventing Kidney Stones in Cats and Kittens
Price: around a thousand with some change for 1.5 kg.Our Top Picks:
Natural Superpremium Sterilized Monoprotein Duck – with duck, for a sterilized kitten.Urinary. Natural Superpremium. Rich in Chicken – with chicken.Feeding:
I've got a 3-year-old cat, and he's got digestive issues. He eats like a horse, takes ages to digest, then sits there looking miserable, drinking water, and lying down with a groan, thinking, 'man, how much did I eat today? Was I really that hungry?' We control his eating now, so he doesn't overdo it. He's like a pigeon, ready to eat almost anything...
For preventative measures against kidney stones, of course, sterilized cats need a formula with an optimal pH level.
Feeding Recommendations:
Don't restrict the amount of food. Your cat will eat as much as it needs to maintain a healthy weight. If your cat is overweight or has other issues, it's recommended to limit the daily ration according to the vet's advice or follow the instructions on the packaging. Make sure your pet always has access to fresh, clean water.
Description:
A balanced, complete diet for adult cats to prevent kidney stones, helping to prevent the formation of crystals and stones in the urinary bladder.
The optimal pH level reduces the risk of kidney stones.
A balanced mix of magnesium, calcium, and phosphorus helps maintain normal kidney function, while high animal protein content provides a weakly acidic urine pH, reducing the risk of kidney stones.
X.O.S. helps maintain the natural balance of the gut microbiome, aids digestion, and boosts the immune system.
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that supports immune function and natural defenses.
Seal:
This isn't a zipper, it's a pseudo-closure. To keep the food's aroma in and prevent it from getting stale, we use product clips (like paper clips).
Composition, Nutrients:
It's got fish, it's got salmon, animal fat – that's what they shout out on the big, glowing blue packaging. Apart from chicken, it's got various vitamins.
We always pay attention to the ash content percentage (which shouldn't exceed 10%) when choosing a food. In this one, it's just 5%!
I was surprised by the ingredient list - it's like a nutritionist's dream come true. Here's what I found: рыс, кукурузная глютеновая мука, курица (дегидрированная 18%, свежая 5%), рыба (дегидрированный лосось), животный жир (куриный жир 99.6%, консервированный с помощью натуральных антиоксидантов), овес, гидролизированный животный белок, дегидрированный горох, яичный порошок (с высоким содержанием полноценного белка), рыбий жир (масло лосося) таурин, КОС (ксилоолигосахариды 3г/кг), гидрализованные дрожжи (МОС), юкка Шидигера.

Here's What the Food Looks Like: it's moderately fatty, moderately chunky. There's a smell, not overpowering, but quite pleasant.
My Cat's Daily Routine:After eating, he spends the day lounging in his cozy little house, and when I call out to him, he stirs and stretches before settling into his grooming box. His tail always twitches like a metronome.
After a big meal, he likes to lounge by the window and watch the birds. It's his favorite pastime. He's a happy, contented cat.
Minus Points:
I'm no expert, but I've got strong opinions on what I don't like in a cat food: too much corn, gluten, wheat, and potato. But, I've yet to find the perfect formula for my feline friend. Either the ash content is too high or there's too much potato - it's like eating a whole bag of chips. I'm not perfect, but I think Monge gets some things right, even if I'm not a fan of the corn gluten.
What I've Observed:
My cat has put on a bit of weight (even though Monge is considered a diet food). He's not emaciated, but he's definitely got a few more cheekbones. I've also noticed that Monge, despite being a premium brand, is quite prone to spoilage. It's like it's losing its potency and aroma after just a day or two. We've got a steady supply of food, and we don't leave the bowls out for too long, but Monge just doesn't seem to hold up. It's like it's saying, 'Eat me now, or I'll lose my magic!'\My cat's coat has become thicker and more luxurious, and the dander has all but disappeared. The stool is stable, not too hard. We've been feeding Monge for over three months now, and my cat shows no signs of getting bored. No allergic reactions so far.***
Thanks for reading! Wishing you and your feline friends a happy and healthy life!
