A Disappointing Experience with Momi Diapers

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm usually a fan of trying out new diaper brands for my kids, but Momi Diapers were a major letdown for my youngest. With their affordable price point and decent build quality, I thought they'd be a solid choice. Unfortunately, they didn't quite deliver on the most important things: leak protection and skin comfort. My kid would get red and irritated after just a few hours, and the diapers would start leaking before I could get to a changing station. I'm not saying they're the worst diapers I've ever used, but they're definitely not worth the hassle. If you're on a tight budget, you might want to look elsewhere for a more reliable option. Here's the thing: Momi Diapers are pretty thin and don't provide much absorbency. They do start absorbing eventually, but by then it's usually too late. I had to change my kid's diaper way more often than I wanted to, which was a real pain. The adhesive on the diapers can be finicky, which made it hard to get a good seal. And when I reached out to customer support, they didn't seem super helpful. They just brushed me off and told me to try again. If you're considering Momi Diapers, I'd say think twice. They might be okay for tiny babies, but they're not worth the hassle for me.

Welcome to my review!
I've tried out a bunch of diaper brands with my older daughter, Joonies, and yokosun, but with my youngest, I wanted to mix things up. Plus, there are so many new brands popping up on the market that are way cheaper.
When your kid is super tiny, you're changing diapers every 30 minutes to an hour, so I don't see the point in looking for ones that last all night. I just need something that won't leak and won't irritate their skin, but Momi comfort care Tape totally fell short on that test.
Quick rundown:
Where to buy: You can grab these on marketplaces.
Price: A pack of 82 diapers costs 1029 rubles, which works out to 12.5 rubles per diaper. That's pretty budget-friendly, considering how cheap diapers can get.
Manufacturer: China
Sizes: This brand offers a range from 0 to 20 kg, but even though my kid is only about 4 kg, I opted for size S and it fits great.
I made the mistake of going for the more affordable option, but it turns out this brand has a few different lines with varying materials and absorbency. You can check out the differences on their website.
What the manufacturer promises for Comfort care Tape:
Air channels around the waist keep skin dry;
Hypoallergenic materials;
Anatomical waistband Soft, stretchy waistband hugs the belly;
Air-permeable materials allow for natural airflow for healthy skin;
Leg cuffs prevent leaks;
Instant absorption Holds moisture for up to 12 hours and keeps sensitive skin perfectly dry.
Design
The packaging of these diapers really caught my eye. I've never seen packaging that shimmers like this in the sunlight.
The front of the package is super eye-catching, with a bright and cheerful design that immediately makes you want to pick up the Momi diapers. Plus, the claim that the quality is Japanese is a nice touch. Momi Diapers Whether or not that's actually true is hard to say, but it's probably just a marketing move.On the back, there's a sticker with all the necessary information in Russian.
There's a convenient size chart:
And on the sides, there's information on how to properly put on the diapers.
On top, there are sturdy and comfortable handles for carrying the package, and underneath, a perforation that makes it easy to open the packaging neatly and carefully.
The diapers are neatly stacked in two rows.
There's no strong scent, but when you first open the pack, there's a faint chemical smell – it's pretty standard for most brands.
I really like the design of the diaper itself: the print is subtle, featuring a cute leaf pattern.
The Momi logo is printed on the front, and the back has a handy elastic strip that keeps any liquid from leaking out.
The rectangular shape is really comfortable, and it fits my little one perfectly – it covers their tummy and back just right.
The side elastic strips are soft and gentle on my baby's sensitive legs, but if they do get wet, they'll leak a bit.
Momi Diapers I was impressed with the adhesive strips - they're long and will fit any baby's shape, whether they're petite or have a bit more padding. They're easy to apply, and if needed, you can reapply them, but no more than twice, as they'll start to lose their stickiness after that.
The adhesive strips have enough length to secure the diaper without causing any skin irritation.
The wetness indicator works flawlessly and will even show you when there's a small amount of leakage, but the color doesn't always show evenly.
The non-woven fabric isn't as gentle as what you'd find in Joonies or Ottino diapers. I'd compare it to Yokosun's material, but Momi's quality is clearly inferior.
The diaper itself is thick, especially when it's full.
It becomes heavy, and the absorbent material can even clump a bit. We only changed the diaper three hours in, and it was already getting quite soggy.
Momi Diapers I can only imagine how it would look after a full night's use...
Comparing it to another brand...
The internal layer has these tiny little bumps that help liquid spread out and get absorbed. But the surface isn't super gentle - there are materials that are more delicate than this.
My experience with them:
At first, I really liked these diapers - they're affordable and super comfy. They don't irritate the skin around the waistband or the legs.
However, after each bathroom trip, my little one started getting fussy, and one time I took off the diaper right after she peed and it was soaked inside. The diaper does start absorbing eventually, but by that time, there's enough time for the skin to get irritated and red. So, we only use them during the day when we can change them more often than at night. At night, I prefer another brand, and Momi definitely let me down in this regard.
One of the main pros is that they're affordable.
The design is really cute, and the rectangular shape is comfortable for my baby.
They have a waistband, which helps prevent leaks.
The packaging is well-designed, with a convenient size chart and information on how to put the diapers on.
There's also a wetness indicator that works pretty well.
The biggest con is that they don't absorb well. We had to change the diaper after just three hours, and it was already getting soggy.
Another issue is that the non-woven fabric can cause skin irritation.
Final Verdict: If it weren't for the negative reaction, I'd definitely buy these diapers again. But healthy skin without red marks is my top priority in diapers, and Momi failed that test.
My reviews of other diapers:
Joonies Premium Soft are still our top picks, and they're super soft and gentle
Merries Good Skin fell for the name, but it was a total letdown in the end
Pampers Premium Care are some of the worst diapers out there
Nani is just another example of a disappointing diaper from Magnit
