I recently tried out the MiniVerse Series Food Cafe, and it was a wild ride.
When you first open the package, you're left wondering what's inside. It could be ice cream, waffles with chocolate sauce, a jar of pickled cucumbers, or even a small potato. I was clueless at first, but now I have a better idea of what to expect.
You can read more about the MiniVerse Series Food Cafe set here. The price for one of these mini food packs can be around 2000 rubles, which doesn't seem right to me. I'd rather spend that money on a real meal.
And for that price, you only get ONE dish! Not three, not two, not a complete meal, just one thing. It might be a cocktail with a straw, or a dessert, but it's just one item. It's like buying a bubble tea at a real cafe price.
However, when I found the MiniVerse Series Food Cafe packs at a huge discount at the Children's World store, I decided to give them a try. One pack cost me around 300 rubles. So, I bought a few.
The first one I opened had toast with strawberries, the second had a cocktail that we ended up getting all over our hands, and the third one just looked unappealing. But we opened it anyway, and it was a surprise. The suspense continues until the very end of the packaging.
Inside the mini food pack, you'll find colorful packets. Be careful when you touch them, as we accidentally threw away a straw and a spoon.
Each packet has a surprise inside. It could be a pick, a topping, or a sauce. There's also a card with the dishes on it. To be honest, I'm not a fan of this series. The ice cream is okay, the waffles are okay, but the worst part is the sweet ice that's just piled up and the various cocktails. These miniatures are sold on AliExpress in sets and are much cheaper. On the back of the card, you'll find what might be inside.
Another recipe. When I opened it, I had to squint. I just hoped it wasn't another cocktail. We got ice cream with little animals. It looked kind of cute.
The set comes with a transparent base. The ice cream on a stick is individually packaged and looks just like the real thing. The little animals are vanilla-flavored, but if you dip them in the glaze and sprinkle with nuts, they look like they're from an ice cream truck.
All the ingredients aren't just in little packets. The sauce containers and nut packets are tiny but look just like the real thing. We had set up paper towels in advance, everything was covered. And it was a good thing we did.
A set for tidy and considerate kids around 11-12 years old. I know it's trendy to give sets with epoxy to 7-year-olds. Like, it's a gift for their birthday and a fun activity for their guests. And for the parents, there's plenty to do afterwards - like cutting off hair and throwing away a ruined couch, and cleaning up after a bunch of kids.MGA MiniVerse Series Food Cafe reviewsYou can't touch anything while you're working on it. If a nut rolls away, you need to pick it up with tweezers, a piece of packaging, or a toothpick.Putting the ice cream on the base requires using tweezers too. Just thinking about it made my eye twitch. The ice cream animals look like they've been puked up.
The glaze was ridiculously runny. Thinner than water. You dip the ice cream, sprinkle with nuts, and it all runs off, so you can start again.
The icing on the stand was a mess. No pretty drips. We had a whole bag of nuts and a bucket of chocolate. I could've spent the whole day sprinkling it.We had a dollhouse, so we poured the excess into that, sprinkled some nuts on top.We ended up with a chocolate pudding with nuts and different toppings. My daughter wanted to make another cake. We scrounged up some old glitter glue and found some polymer clay fruit, but we didn't have a base. Now I'm thinking about where to get all the ingredients to make our own miniatures. It's been three days, and they're still sticky. We couldn't find an ultraviolet lamp, so we put them on the windowsill. This time, the mixture smelled bad, but not as bad as before.
The process was interesting. If I compare it to buying ice cream, we hit the jackpot. We could've ended up with a jar of pickles, and I would've lost my mind. But the result was a complete letdown. The icing was way too runny and transparent. We ruined them with our attempts to cover them in chocolate.
That's the end of it, I guess. The icing didn't thicken, it didn't turn dark. Maybe it was a defective batch.
The glass is all streaked with ugly drips on the stand. The nuts look like acne. We even had to fix them because some of them covered the bears' eyes, and it was hard to tell where their faces were.
