We Fell for the Minions Promotion, But the Toy's Price Left Us Feeling a Little Deflated

I'm a huge fan of the Minions movie, and when I saw the promotion at Magnit, I got excited without even checking the price. When I visited the store, I grabbed a flyer and looked at the conditions when I got home. It seemed pretty straightforward: you just need to assemble a few stickers, but you'll have to pay a decent amount.

So, what do you need to do to get the Minions toy?

Visit the store and grab a flyer that has stickers to assemble, which you'll get at the checkout. The flyer has the full rules and details of the promotion. On the front, you'll see the full collection of toys – it's tempting to get them all! Collecting stickers isn't hard, since all Magnit stores are participating in the promotion: the cosmetics section, pharmacy, grocery store, and more.

We managed to collect almost all the stickers in one day – we just needed one more. We visited the Magnit cosmetics store and the grocery store, and the stickers were added both physically and digitally. At the cosmetics store, we got a large sticker that takes up two spaces in the booklet, while at the grocery store, we got a single small sticker. Overall, we collected the stickers quickly, but I have to say that paying 300 rubles for a toy like this didn't feel great. For a regular, soft toy, that's expensive – it doesn't make any sounds, and there's nothing special about it, aside from it being a Minion! And the full price is just crazy – 800 or 1000 rubles for this? Are you kidding me?

I remember a promotion at Magnit where you got a cup with the toy – that made sense, since you'd be using the cup. But this time? Just a toy that'll get boring in 30 minutes and collect dust?

Anyway, for the duration of the promotion, we avoided this store or at least the toy section near the checkout.

I wasn't going to review a toy for kids, but for the price, I'd choose a different one that's way more interesting. I mean, take Cash from my oldest son's favorite cartoon - he sings the song from the cartoon and says a few lines from it. And it costs just 450 rubles, which is 150 rubles more than this toy.

Cash would be bigger than this little Minion, too. Anyway, the promotion was ending, and I had a coupon booklet with stickers that had been lying in the stroller for months. We went on a walk, and the kids wanted to get a drink, so we ended up at a Magnit store. Of course, they were immediately drawn to this display with bright, round, and soft toys. They both started shouting, 'Mama, buy this, I'll play with it!' Fine, I had 50 stickers left on my card, and 150 rubles wasn't a lot (not 300, though!). My son took his time choosing, but there weren't many options, as most of the toys looked similar. By the way, the toys are different at different stores. Toy size doesn't affect the price - you can choose a big Minion 'Fresh' or a small one 'Squish'. Fresh is twice as big as Squish, and they look way cooler, too. I personally liked them more, but my son wanted the little chubby one, 'Bob Kung Fu'. So, we got that one. When we got to the checkout, I asked the cashier to scan the electronic stickers so that the price would be 149 rubles per toy. However, she couldn't scan them electronically, so we had to either pay the full price of 800 rubles or use paper stickers. Luckily, I remembered that I had a booklet with almost fully completed stickers in the stroller, so we ended up spending 250 rubles (we got drinks and snacks, too) and paying 299 rubles for Bob.\xa0

And what do you think - does the kid play with this toy? Of course not! He got bored with it by the time we got home. My younger son played with Bob for a bit at home, but now the toy is just collecting dust in the container with other soft toys, while my son is running around with Cash and singing 'Mi mi mi sheeps'.

Honestly, I'd say this purchase was a total waste of money for us, but if your kids are huge Minions fans, they might actually love this toy.The toy

It's super bright and cute, and small enough to fit in your hand.

I was impressed by the build quality - all the seams are perfectly even.

The little details, like the stitching, are really well done.

The toy even comes with a little strap that lets kids carry Bob around

Overall, I'd say this wasn't the best value for the price, especially considering you could get more stickers if you wanted to collect them. Or, at the very least, they could have lowered the price on the smaller Minion figures.
