I'll be the first to admit it - when I was pregnant, I was pretty skeptical of most modern cartoons. I thought they were low-quality and wouldn't be suitable for my future little one. But fast forward a few years, and my opinion changed dramatically!
One show that really stood out to me was Masha and the Bear. It used to be a staple on the children's channel Karusel, right alongside Peppa Pig. I was appalled by the content they were showing kids, but Masha and the Bear still stood out to me back then - the characters were lovable, and the episodes were educational.

So, what didn't I like about these cartoons back in the day? Peppa Pig was just plain dull with no educational value. But Masha and the Bear were different - I still enjoy watching them now.
By the way, when I was researching the release year, I found out that the show has won some awards - two in 2016 and one in 2018.
2016 — XXI Open Russian Festival of Animated Film (Suzdal-2016): Prize in the category of "Best Series" - Alexei Mironov for the episode "The Best Place in the World" from the project "Masha and the Bear".
Back in 2016, my favorite animated film from the Big Animation Festival was chosen by the audience - it was Mi-Mi-Mice. Tsypa and Dinosaurs, directed by Alexei Mironov. I was blown away by the story.
In 2018, the Multiverse film received a special prize from the jury for its Best Female Character in a Russian Animated Film - and it was our beloved Lisichka.

Image 2Image 3Let me tell you about White Bear, Tuchka. He's a polite, tidy, calm, punctual, serious, and loyal friend.
The brown bear is Kesh (also known as Yinnokenti).

The fox is Lisichka.
I love how the main character is portrayed as a sweet, gentle, and feminine woman - as much as possible in a kids' cartoon. She's always baking pies and making compotes, and she's super tidy and organized.
Secondary Characters
Cyka - this little chick hasn't learned how to fly yet, so it just runs around and chirps in its own language.
The secondary character is super clever and friendly.
Sonya and Sanya
I love the hedgehog twins, Sonya and Sanya, who we meet in episode 99, 'Contact'. They're not exactly the most pleasant characters at first, but they do improve as the series goes on.
Valya - the hedgehog
Vala's got a lot of depth - he's smart, well-read, and serious, but he's also down to earth and doesn't take himself too seriously.
The adventures he has are always unpredictable and keep you on your toes.
Each episode has a valuable lesson to teach. Friendship is the main theme, with other values like loyalty and compassion coming in second.
Some episodes have a clear message, like the one that promotes greed. Others have a more scattered approach, touching on multiple values like kindness, help, and loyalty.
I have to say, there's not a single episode that I'd criticize or regret watching.
There's no overarching storyline, just some recurring themes - Kasha's always inventing something, Lisichka's always cooking, and Tuchka's always lending a helping hand.
I love how each episode presents the characters with tough choices that are super relatable to real life. They make important decisions that can be a great example for kids.
The music theme in this show is catchy, and I think many moms will recognize it.
There's often a musical background without lyrics, which I think is really nice. The voice acting is great too - the kids' voices are perfect for their roles, and you won't find any deep bass.
I'd recommend Masha and the Bear to kids over 3 years old. My son's still a bit young to fully understand concepts like friendship and helping others, but he enjoys watching it for a bit. He gets restless after a few episodes, so it's probably a good thing.
I think as he gets older, he'll really enjoy Masha and the Bear more because he'll understand the stories better.
I'm giving it a solid 5 stars - the show is great, and I don't have any complaints.
