A Blast from the Past: Revisiting Masanyan Under the Yellow Press

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm revisiting a childhood favorite, Masanyan Under the Yellow Press, a classic puzzle game that still holds up today. With its quirky style, charming illustrations, and engaging storylines, this game is a true blast from the past. While the gameplay can get a bit repetitive, the mini-games and colorful locations keep things fresh and exciting. I'm excited to share my full thoughts on this nostalgic gem, and whether it's worth playing again for a new generation.

A Blast from the Past: Revisiting Masanyan Under the Yellow Press
I'm diving back into some of my favorite childhood games, and I'm excited to share my thoughts on Masanyan Under the Yellow Press.
This game is a classic, and I'm sure many of you have played it before.
For those who may be unfamiliar, Masanyan is a series of games created by Alawar and Nevosoft, and they're known for their engaging puzzles and colorful illustrations.
One of the things that sets Masanyan apart is its quirky, charming style, which is quintessentially Oleg Kuvayev's - the creator of Masanyan.
The storylines are interesting, although the actions in each location can get a bit repetitive. Almost every location has you searching for a key to unlock something - doors, chests, books, locks, and so on.
I have to say, I really love the simple and somewhat imperfect illustrations. Some of my favorite locations are the forest and the village.
Each level also has various mini-games, which aren't too repetitive. Most of them (if not all) are kid-friendly.
For example, there's a mini-game where you have to pick up coins with your hand. It's a simple yet fun task that adds a bit of variety to the gameplay.
However, not all mini-games are as easy. There's one level that gave me a headache, and it was due to the shaky controls and sensitive mouse. It took me three tries to pass it without touching anything.
After the first 'test' level, you get to choose your difficulty level. If you choose 'novice', you can skip these mini-games in a minute if you can't pass them. But I'd recommend playing on 'expert' mode if you're an adult.
Before each new level, there's a comic strip to get you ready. It's a nice touch that adds to the game's charm.
I completed the entire game in exactly one and a half hours. It's a relatively short game, but it's still fun to play.
So, who is this game for? In my opinion, the game is still best suited for those who:
have played it in childhood and decided to relive the nostalgia.are fans of Masha and the Bear.and kids aged 12.For adults, it will probably be boring due to the easy levels. For kids, it will be fine, unless they're easily offended by some of the immature jokes. Masia is a pretty wholesome cartoon, but it does have its share of silly humor.
Overall, Masanyan Under the Yellow Press is a fun and charming game that's perfect for kids and nostalgic adults. It's a great way to spend a lazy afternoon, and it's a great introduction to the world of puzzle games.
Thanks for reading!
My reviews of other games:
12 Chairs - another creation from Saturn-Plus.Scary Tales: The Sixth Sense - a cartoon detective game.Dead Island - we're killing zombies on Banoi Island.Season after Fall - an incredibly beautiful game about a squirrel changing the seasons. How to Get Your Neighbor - a nostalgic game that was almost every kid's favorite back in the day.
