Hello everyone!
I visited the Mandarin pavilion on Arbat on January 4th, one of the days of the New Year's holidays. It was absolute chaos - tons of people, and I had to wait in line to get in and then to get out. The pavilion looks like a giant mandarin, its top is covered in snow:
When I finally managed to squeeze inside, I started taking photos. Every visitor was taking pictures of the prices and products. People rarely bought anything, they were mostly looking, touching, holding, taking pictures, and discussing the prices with each other. But, of course, some people did end up buying something, and I think it was a great value!
So, let me show you the products:
There were mostly horses, which is no surprise, it's the year of the horse, after all!
I don't usually buy candles (only in churches), but 2000 rubles for one candle is too expensive, even though it's beautiful:
This Christmas decoration is almost 7000 rubles:
These decorations are around 1600 rubles:
This plate is 4750 rubles:
This pillow is 2500 rubles:
Candles:
These figurines might not be bad as a gift if you have a place to put them:
And what about this fox statuette for 15000 rubles?
And this plate for 6900 rubles?
For 6000 bucks, you get this.
And here are those misshapen candles for 8000. No, you're not seeing things.
This tiny lantern costs 800 rubles.
Christmas decoration:
This candle costs 9490 rubles.
This horse-shaped necklace costs 5100.
New Year's ornament with a tea candle:
This candle costs 3000.
These weird candles:
For 1000 rubles:
This candle costs 2500.
This candle costs 2100.
This basket costs 900.
Plates for 4900 rubles:
Little things with assortment:
For 950 rubles.
You can also buy a beautiful lamp here:
For 4500 rubles:
Plate for 5975 rubles:
I felt like I was in a museum)
NOTES ON THE PROS AND CONS:
The whole street is decorated like an art pavilion
The exterior is impressive
Beautiful decoration at the entrance and ceiling
There are many beautiful items for sale
There's a security guard at the entrance
It's expensive
It's only interesting to visit once
The small space is crowded
VERDICT: I'd give it 4 stars and recommend checking it out if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit. I came to walk around Arbat and see how much I weigh in mandarins, but when I saw the queue - I changed my mind. It's easier to weigh one and calculate how much you're carrying, than to stand in line for hours in the cold...
Thanks for reading, dear friends!
