A Bumpy Ride with Magnit: The Minions Promotion Falls Flat

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've gotta say, my experience with Magnit has been a wild ride, and the Minions promotion was no exception. The prices on sale items often don't match what's on the shelves, and the self-service checkout has been a pain. To top it off, the staff can be pushy when promoting sale items, making for a less-than-ideal shopping experience. Despite my best efforts, I still ended up back at Magnit hoping to snag the Minions goodies, but it didn't go smoothly. If you're thinking of checking out this promotion, be prepared for some frustration. I've been to Magnit multiple times, and each time I've encountered issues with the prices and the self-service checkout. It's frustrating when you're excited about a sale, only to find out the prices don't match what's advertised. The staff is always willing to help and apologize for any issues, but it's not enough to make up for the problems with the promotion.

A Bumpy Ride with Magnit: The Minions Promotion Falls Flat
I've gotta say, my experience with Magnit has been a wild ride. I'm not a fan of the store, and this latest fiasco with the Minions promotion didn't exactly change my mind.
First off, the prices on sale items sometimes don't match what's on the shelves. I've had to head back to the counter or double-check my receipt to find out I didn't score the deal I thought I had. The staff always apologize and say they're in the process of re-pricing, but it's just not right.
Secondly, they've started promoting sale items at the checkout, and it feels like a hard sell. The staff will tell you how awesome the item is and how you need to get it, which can be super off-putting.
Thirdly, their self-service checkout hasn't been working properly a few times, and I've had to hit up a different store because I didn't have enough cash on hand.
Despite all this, I found myself back at Magnit for the Minions promotion, hoping to snag the stickers and buy my daughter a toy at a discounted price. But, of course, it didn't go smoothly.
When I tried to pay for my items, the cashier gave me a loyalty card, which I declined since I already had one. But the staff member insisted it was a store rule that I get a new card every time I spent over 1000 rubles. I was told to either give it to someone else or toss it, which was just ridiculous.
But the worst part was when I discovered that the stickers were only being credited to the new cards, not my existing one. It was a sneaky trick, but not exactly honest.
So, I had to head back to the manager and get a full refund for the order, which was a real hassle. But I did get to keep my items, and I have to say, the Minions toys are actually really cute and well-made.
The price, however, is a bit steep, even for an exclusive item. 999 and 799 rubles is just too much to pay, even for something as nice as these toys. We ended up buying five of them, but we won't be buying any more.
We did enjoy the 'Toy in a Mug' promotion they had earlier, which was a great value for the price. But this Minions promotion was a major letdown. I'd give it three stars, but only if you're looking to buy a toy at the discounted price of 149 rubles.
Our collection is currently on display in our MyPuff 'apple' cushion.
Here are some of the issues I've encountered with Magnit:
Prices on sale items don't match what's on the shelves. Staff promote sale items at the checkout, which can be off-putting. Self-service checkout hasn't been working properly. Loyalty card policy is confusing and sometimes misleading. Stickers are only credited to new loyalty cards, not existing ones.
On the other hand, here are some positive aspects of Magnit:
The Minions toys are really cute and well-made. The 'Toy in a Mug' promotion was a great value for the price.
Overall, my experience with Magnit has been a mixed bag. While they have some nice products and promotions, their customer service and store policies can be a bit of a challenge. I'd recommend shopping elsewhere, but if you do decide to give Magnit a try, be sure to read the fine print and watch out for any sneaky tricks.
