Hello everyone!
I recently picked up the popular LUXVISAGE lip tints in shades 06, 07, and 08 to see what all the fuss is about.
Initially, I fell for shade 06, but then I saw all these viral videos featuring the new darker shades 07 and 08, which some beauty influencers use for a tattoo effect and to make their lips look fuller.
Of course, I had to get them too – and now I've ended up with a huge collection of cheap makeup, which is great because most of it is from a budget brand I discovered online a few years ago.
Now, makeup is expensive, but the products themselves are much cheaper.
Okay, let's get to the lip tints. I'll show you how they perform and why I didn't like them.
INFO
Name: LUXVISAGE aqua gel hyaluron complex
Weight: 3.4g
Shades: 01-08, I have 06, 07, and 08
Price: 160-250 rubles, often on sale
Sale location: I bought all three at Podruga, but it's cheaper at Zolotoe Yabloko. I've also seen them on marketplaces.
EXTERNAL APPEARANCE
These lip tints are super recognizable – everyone's seen them, I think! They have a very simple design, but it's memorable.
The brand name 'luxvisage' is written in a circle around the product, 'lip tint' is written along the body in big letters, and it reminds me of something old-school, like a disco.
There's also a label on the back saying it's a lip tint with a hyaluronic acid complex.
I've got to say, the ingredient list is pretty impressive - it's got a few hyaluronic acids in there, but unfortunately, it doesn't do much for my lips.
Aqua, Glycerin, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Trideceth-9, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, Propylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Parfum, +/- [CI 14700, CI 14720, CI 15985, CI 16035, CI 16185, CI 16255, CI 17200, CI 28440, CI 42090].
The packaging is pretty big, but you can stash it anywhere – even in the smallest makeup bag.
I never took it with me, it just sat in my storage.
By the way, the plastic casing isn't the sturdiest – it looks okay at first glance, but one of the tint pens had a broken lid just from screwing it on and off.
That's not the end of the world, though.
There's no tamper-evident seal, but once it's been opened, it's pretty obvious.
It gets everywhere – the applicator and the dropper get all messed up.
I've got to say, the most important thing for me is the tone and shelf life of this product.
I've already tried four other Tini products, including their brow gel and liquid eyeshadows, which I absolutely loved.
The applicator is super easy to use, nice and soft, and it gets a great coat on your lips in just one go.
I've got to say, the scent is really nice, like sweet gum.
SWATCHES
Out of all the shades I've tried, I've only really liked 06, 07, and 08 – the others are just too light or bright for me.
The 06 toffee shade was the darkest, but it's still pretty light, and it shows up even reddish when you apply it thickly.
Then I got my hands on 07 baked sugar and 08 truffle shades.
The 07 is a lovely shade of caramel, and the 08 is a cool, truffle-like shade.
I did swatches, so you can see the difference.
From left to right, it's 06/07/08.
It's got two layers.
Under cold light.
The smudge. Wiped it off with water.
Under cold light. And it's the most accurate – any shade of smudge on my lips looks cold, but it's way more visible in daylight, even though I took this photo in the evening.
By the way, the 06 shade was the most long-lasting – the smudge on my hand lasted for two days, but the 07 and 08 shades washed off easily, just a couple of times I washed my hands with soap.
Either way, they stain my lips really well, but not in a pretty way.
This is an aquatint, it's super liquidy and has a matte finish.
Here's a comparison with a great Korean tint – it's also pretty liquidy, more gel-like, but it's got a glossy finish.
I actually bought this Korean tint in Korea, and it's a total steal, I paid like 1.7k rubles for it, which is way cheaper than what I'd pay here.
I've tried a bunch of different makeup looks, but I used to just slap on a single layer of lipstick and call it a day.
1️⃣ The simplest way is to apply the lipstick in 1-2 layers – do whatever feels right for you.
I used a lip liner to create a subtle contour, which made it easier to apply the color evenly.
I went with the 06 shade.
I applied it with my fingers first, and it gave me this gorgeous, plump look like I'd just been kissed.
But when I tried to build it up with an applicator, it looked messy.
I've come to the conclusion that it's better to apply it in one layer and just touch it up as needed.
2️⃣ If you remove the lipstick with just water, you get this really cool 'tattoo' effect.
I thought it looked kinda cool at first, but even with the 06 shade, it gave my lips a slightly blue-ish tint that I didn't love.
3️⃣ The third method I saw in a video was just plain ridiculous – I never managed to get it right, but it does work with lip liners and lip gloss.
The key here is to draw the contour and feather it beyond the lips to create a shadow that makes your lips look bigger, just like Nina Park does.
Then, apply the tint all over your lips and feather it with your finger.
I used shade 07.
When I tried blending the tint, it just disappeared, leaving behind streaks.
After fully covering my lips, I couldn't see a difference with the first method... but after removing the 07 shade, my lips looked like they'd been powdered with charcoal, and the color was unevenly distributed.
4️⃣ The fourth method is also from a video.
To use shade 08, I had to draw the contour in two layers, then apply a full coat of shade 06 (or any light shade) and leave it overnight.
The next morning, I was supposed to remove it and apply a gloss.
I did sleep on it, but the color didn't distribute evenly.
5️⃣ And finally, the last method that made me buy shade 08 in the first place.
The girl in the video used it to color her lips, eyebrows, and eyebrows' arches.
I tried it too.
I really liked the combination of 08 and 06, it's got a gothic vibe that's kind of back in style now, with dark tones making a comeback.
One thing to keep in mind is that if you don't wash off these dark shades, they can actually make your teeth look whiter than they are, which is definitely not what you want.
By the way, these tint sticks won't work on waterproof pencils because they're actually aquatints, but they'll stick to regular wooden pencils just fine.
🥀THE VERDICT
These lip tints are definitely tinted, and they do a great job of coloring my lips, but they don't look great, highlighting all the fine lines and wrinkles I thought I didn't have (I moisturize my lips every day).
I've got something to compare them to – Holika Holika's lip tints with a heart-shaped cap and Laka's liquid ones are way better, they don't emphasize the fine lines and look great on my lips, but they're also way more expensive.
It's just nicer to use a lip liner and lip gloss, they're way more flattering and affordable.
Would I recommend these lip tints? I guess so, considering the price, you can give them a try, maybe they'll work for you and you'll like them, but I'm not a fan, and the amount of product is huge – I barely use them, but they just disappear.
For me, it's a 3/5 – if they were more expensive, I'd give them a 2/5.
