I'm beyond excited to share my honest review of the Luminarc Diwali set, which has become my go-to dinnerware. From its stylish design to its impressive build quality, I'll cover everything you need to know.
As a kid, I grew up watching my parents use Luminarc plates, which were heavy, high-quality, and lasted for decades. When I moved into my own apartment, I inherited a set of Luminarc Diwali plates, which were a different style but just as amazing. Ever since then, I've been hooked on this series.
So, when I finally treated myself to a new set, I knew I had to share my experience with you. In this review, I'll show you the different types of plates, bowls, and even some of my favorite dishes to serve in them.
Product Name: Luminarc Diwali / Diwali Series White.
Price: from 2590 rub to 6-7 thousand depending on the configuration.
Material:
tempered glass. Can be used in microwave ovens and washed in dishwashers.
Country of Origin: France.
Where to buy: you can find it in any online store, kitchenware shops (this series isn't everywhere, but the Luminary brand is usually available even in small stores). Of course, you can also buy it on the official Luminary website. And, as a bonus, you can even find the plates in Fix Price stores at a reasonable price!
I bought my set on the Luminary website because it had the best price + I also bought some extra plates to complete the set.
I also ordered some other kitchenware and got some free gifts, yay!Set variations:
You can either buy individual plates and create your own set or buy a pre-made set on the Luminary website (or other websites). The prices aren't super cheap, but it's convenient to have a set ready-made.
On the official Luminary website, you can find three white set options:
18 pieces - three types of plates for 6 people19 pieces - three types of plates for 6 people and a large salad bowl38 pieces - three types of plates, a tea set (cup + saucer) for 6 people, a large salad bowl, and six small salad bowls, plus an extra large oval platter.
I basically put together the biggest set from the standard one (18 pieces) and added a ton of useful extras on top of it
all types of plates from the Luminary Divali series
But before I show you all this goodness, I want to say that right now, as I'm writing this review, I checked the Luminary website to see the prices, and it turns out that the Divali series has EXPLODED since I last looked, and now there's an absolutely huge selection - if it had been this big 5 years ago, I would've definitely bought way more dishes, and who knows, maybe I wouldn't have stopped at white
There are these incredibly beautiful turquoise sets and delicate lavender ones, there are two-tone sets (with black and white plates, as well as combinations of those gorgeous turquoises and lavenders), and even super-trendy plates in the palace style - like when you add colored sprinkles to a uniform color. Just head over to the website here and enjoy the beauty)

I'm excited to share my thoughts on the dinner plates, but before that, let's talk about the set I got. You can buy the basic set, but all the plates can be purchased separately. My set was an extended one with three types of bowls, but it's not available on the official website anymore, maybe you can find it on other sites.
Now, finally, let's talk about the dishes.
Dinner Plate Luminarc Diwali 25 cm
I'm absolutely loving the design of these plates - they're the most stylish, the coolest, like in a restaurant. Nothing extra, no flowers or Soviet-style greetings.
The plate is really flat, the edges are very delicately raised, washing this plate is a pleasure.
The plate has a manufacturer's sticker, and I'm glad it comes off easily without leaving any residue. The sticker isn't paper-based, it's a thin plastic sheet with the product series and size written on it. This is a plus for some people who might need to know the diameter.
I've got to say, the diameter is 25 cm. This plate is huge, even for a guy's serving. I'm a bit of a weirdo, but I love eating off a big plate - my small serving looks super neat, just like in a restaurant.
The plate's base is super flat, no raised foundation.
Overall, the quality of all the plates, and actually the whole Luminary set, is incredibly high - no scratches, no defects, and no inclusions on the glass. I'm more than happy to pay top dollar for that level of quality.
One of these dinner plates currently costs 179 rubles on the website. If you buy them gradually, one or two at a time, it won't break the bank.
I've also got larger plates with a 27 cm diameter, but I think that's just too much. I prefer eating off my smaller, flat plate most of the time.
Luminarc Diwali Dessert Plate 19 cm
I'm not sure why they call it a dessert plate, because I've been using it for both dinner and lunch, and it's been a great value for money. My husband also uses it sometimes, but he prefers larger plates.
The features are the same as the previous one, except for the size.
I also appreciate how easily the sticker in the center comes off.
The sticker has the name, barcode, and diameter printed on it.
The plate looks really neat and compact, and it fits perfectly in the dishwasher, too - the other plates don't overlap each other.
It's also really flat:
The back side is completely clean and free of any unnecessary features.
I've found this little plate to be a great value for money at 159 rubles.
I use it for all sorts of dishes - main courses and desserts. Sweet treats look especially appetizing in this plate
The next type of plate I want to show you is
Luminarc Diwali Divali 20 cm Deep Soup Plate
This plate is super convenient for soups and for people like me who tend to be a bit messy with their food
I usually put my food right up to the edges, and then it ends up spilling all over the table - which was a problem with my old flat plate. But this one has high sides, so nothing spills out
The same easy-to-remove sticker and perfectly flat bottom.
Price for the separate plate is now 179 rubles on the website.
The sticker says the dishes are extra-durable, and I'll get to that later.
After 5 years
I've been using this set for 5 years, and in all that time, the plates haven't lost their color, turned yellow, or gotten any scratches from knives or forks. Everything is perfect!
Next up is the large salad bowl, which is also part of the complete set.
Luminarc Diwali Divali 21 cm Salad Bowl
The salad bowl is indeed massive and matches the plates in style perfectly.
I've got to say, this thing is super spacious. I can serve appetizers, a big salad for a group of three or more, and even a whole cake if I want to.
beauty and deliciousness
The high sides without any curves and the completely smooth surface make it a breeze to clean - even a big salad bowl like this one.
There's a small molded base at the bottom of the bowl to keep it stable - and it works like a charm - this thing is super stable, I'd say "rock-solid"
The sticker is still great . On its own, this bowl costs 442 rubles right now.
I also want to show you the smaller bowls that aren't included in the sets anymore, but you can buy them separately. When we're having a big gathering, I like to set up two tables, and to avoid stretching for the salad from one end of the table to the other, I just portion out the salads into smaller servings in these little bowls.
Soup Bowl Luminarc Diwali Divali with two ear handles
Volume:
560ml

It looks a bit more unusual than its siblings due to the ear handles, but I don't use them that often. Maybe because if there's something left over in the bowl, it's easier to cover it with a round plate (with plastic wrap or a silicone lid, or a plate) than with a bowl with handles.
The sticker is still great.
I have to say, the bowl is a bit small, but I find it more convenient to eat soup out of a deeper bowl, which I mentioned earlier. My brother, on the other hand, loves these small but deep bowls.
Although this bowl is the most inconvenient for me, I still use it quite often as a salad bowl.
It's priced at 198 rubles separately.
Luminarc Diwali Salad Bowl
I use these small salad bowls constantly - as salad bowls, as dessert plates, and as kids' dishes.
Eating soup out of this bowl is a bit awkward, but it's not meant for that. The salad fits a bit snugly, but when you have a big table and lots of salads, it's a lifesaver.
And it's perfect for little snacks!
The shape is the same, after all, it's the same series.
This salad bowl is a repeat of the large salad bowl, which I think is very pretty.
This little salad bowl may be small, but it's surprisingly tall.
The label has some useful info on it.
And check out the smooth, flat base - it's perfect for keeping the bowl stable on the table.
It's really well-designed, if I do say so myself.
But don't get too excited - I do have some criticisms to share, and unfortunately, there are a few.
The dishes are ridiculously fragile.
I mean, yes, all the dishes are fragile, but everyone's always saying that Luminary is somehow magically unbreakable. And if they do break, supposedly the shards are safe and won't cause any harm.
Don't believe the hype.
Check it out for yourself:
And the tiny shards:
Some of them are ridiculously sharp and actually pretty hazardous. Yeah, the plate bounces off the floor and springs up like a ball, but ultimately shatters like this, into tiny pieces.
I guess my tile is pretty tile-y, but the fact remains.
So, unfortunately, I'm taking off a star for that.
Second minus isn't immediately obvious and won't affect everyone.
I've got a pull-out dish rack in my lower kitchen drawer, and it's some kind of terrible quality - already started rusting after two years and now looks pretty sad:
And, unfortunately, the rust sometimes gets stuck in the glassware and doesn't come off .
I'm really happy with my Luminarc Diwali set, despite the occasional chip - these plates are super stylish and the bowls are roomy, so they don't steal the show from the food. To me, the food looks way more appetizing and appealing in this set. I'd highly recommend this series!
