Reason for purchase
I've been on the hunt for an orthopedic pillow that really delivers on memory foam for ages. My current pillows are okay, but sometimes I feel like I need more head support. These kinds of pillows are often praised for reducing neck strain, so I was curious to try one out.

I saw this pillow in a review from an author I follow, who writes about things that really interest me. They recommended it, and I decided to give it a shot. The price definitely caught my eye – $1,500 is a pretty penny, but I figured it was worth a try.

When I tried to look at similar pillows in specialty stores, they started at around 7,000 rubles. Plus, according to some measurements, I needed a pretty high pillow. But I hate high pillows – they give me headaches and neck pain.

This pillow didn't quite work out for me, but I'm glad I only spent $1,500 on it. If I'd spent 7,000 and still not been able to sleep on it, that would've been a lot more frustrating. At least I got to try out this type of pillow and figure out what I'm looking for.

Materials
Now let's take a closer look at what the product page has to say about the pillow's materials. According to the manufacturer, the base is made of memory foam with a viscous elastic polyurethane effect, and the cover is 100% polyester.
Base: memory foam with a viscous elastic polyurethane effect. Cover: 100% polyester. Non-removable cover: 100% polyester

The first, inner cover is super thin, but the second, removable one is thick and textured. I'll post a closer-up pic to give you an idea of the texture. Overall, the material is pleasant to touch and doesn't cause any discomfort.
Orthopedic pillow LOWUT Low 2 with memory effectGetting started
This was a big mistake on my part - I read the instructions but didn't quite follow them. The instructions clearly state that you need to air out the pillow, wash the cover, and only then use it. I read that, sniffed the pillow, and thought, 'Nope, no smell, no need to air it out.'

The next day, I did everything the instructions said: washed the cover, washed the pillow itself, and left it to air out on the balcony for three days. We were in the middle of a cold snap at the time. And, sure enough, the smell was completely gone after that. So, it looks like the instructions were spot on about that.
LOWUT Low 2 Memory Foam Orthopedic PillowSoftness
Honestly, this is the firmest pillow I've ever had. I used to have dense down pillows, and I thought they were the firmest thing out there. But there's something even firmer. At first, when you lie down on the pillow, you get this feeling like you're lying on a brick.
LOWUT Low 2 Memory Foam Orthopedic PillowThis pillow is rock solid, unforgiving, and uncomfortable – until it starts to conform to your head after a while. Even then, you have to adjust your position to get somewhat comfortable. What's more, the pillow still curves quite a bit, which makes it press down on your neck. No matter how I tried to lie down, I just couldn't find a comfortable position.

Apparently, the manufacturer says this pillow is suitable for stomach sleepers. I'm one of those people, and it's just not working out. The pillow's firmness makes your face sink in, and it puts pressure on your neck. If you try to sleep on your side, you end up tilting forward and putting strain on your neck instead.
LOWUT Low 2 Memory Foam PillowWhen I sleep on my back, this pillow is actually a bit too low. So, I end up using two pillows, even then, it's only when I'm just lying there and browsing my phone. Honestly, I haven't figured out a comfortable way to sleep on this pillow yet. One option is to sleep right at the edge, so my face isn't pressed against it, but that's not very comfortable either.
LOWUT Low 2 Memory Foam PillowPost-Sleep Feelings
It feels like I've been squished. At first, after trying to sleep on the pillow, my shoulder and neck would start aching, and I could really feel the weight of my head being misaligned. Sometimes, I'd even wake up with a headache. So, I just ended up switching to a different pillow at night and setting this one aside.
LOWUT Low 2 Memory Foam PillowThe same thing happens with my face - it feels puffy, which isn't surprising, given that I'm not sleeping comfortably. My circulation is all messed up, and I look like I've had the worst night's sleep ever. Honestly, after a night like that, where I'm constantly tossing and turning, trying to get comfortable, I don't feel rested at all. To put it simply, the feelings after sleeping on this pillow are definitely not what I'd expect from a new, comfortable pillow.
LOWUT Low 2 Memory Foam PillowWhy It Happened
Let's face it, we're all different when it comes to sleeping. Some people sleep on their backs, others on their sides, and some even use a high pillow to arch their backs. Me? I sleep in a weird position with my face buried in the pillow on my stomach. Guess that's just not this pillow's style.
LOWUT Low 2 Memory Foam PillowI might've been mistaken to try a pillow with cutouts for my face. Who knows? Either way, I've come to realize that pillows are super personal. But, I've found a way to repurpose this pillow for reading. It holds its shape well, and it's comfortable to lounge with – my head stays in place, and I can read without any issues. So, this pillow won't be collecting dust anytime soon.
LOWUT Low 2 Memory Foam PillowMy Takeaways
Let's face it, pillows are super personal. This pillow just didn't work for me – it's too firm and heavy, and it's just too dense. And, honestly, I'd rather wake up feeling refreshed, not thinking, 'Ugh, my back is killing me this time.'
LOWUT Low 2 Memory Foam PillowI get that a lot of it depends on how you sleep, and people have written that this pillow is perfect for stomach sleepers. But, based on my own experience, I can say that it's not very comfortable on my stomach. I might try to find a better spot for it, but, honestly, this pillow just isn't for me.
LOWUT Low 2 Memory Foam PillowVerdict
Yeah, everyone's different, but honestly, I was really disappointed with the pillow. I mean, you get what you pay for, right? You can expect a decent pillow for $1,500, but this one was a total letdown. I mean, I've had pillows that cost half as much and were way more comfortable.
Orthopedic pillow LOWUT Low 2 with memory effectI'd say the pillow's quality is average, it's just not my thing. I only got to use it for a bit, but it was enough to make me really disappointed. So, if you're interested in trying it out, go for it, but for me, it's a two-star rating - it was just too uncomfortable.
