My Honest Take on L'Oreal's Paradise Big Deal Mascara
I've been using the L'Oreal Paradise Big Deal mascara for two months now, and it's time for my real review.
As someone who's tried numerous mascaras, I was excited to see how this one would perform. In this review, I'll share my thoughts on its packaging, brush, ingredients, and overall effectiveness.
Product Details:
L'Oreal Paris Paradise Big Deal
Volume: 9.9 ml.
Price: Around 16 euros, which is roughly 1600 rubles in Russia. I managed to snag it for 937 rubles, which isn't surprising given the price differences between Finland and Russia. It's interesting to note that L'Oreal and Lancome mascaras are often priced similarly, with a difference of just 5 euros.
Manufacturing Country: Italy.
Shelf Life: 6 months from opening, and I've been using it for two months already.

Packaging and Design:
The packaging design is sleek and modern, with a plastic feel and rose gold accents. I love products that look great and have sturdy packaging that lasts.
The Brush:
For mascara, the brush is one thing I'm glad to see L'Oreal has improved. The stopper for the mascara doesn't fall into the tube like it used to. I've written about my own experiences with L'Oreal mascaras that had a faulty stopper here and here.
Mascara with a Silicone Brush:
This mascara with a silicone brush promised to give me both volume and length, and it did impress me at first.
Ingredients:
AQUA / WATER • BEHENYL BEHENATE • ACRYLATES COPOLYMER • CETEARYL ALCOHOL • STEARIC ACID • PALMITIC ACID • POLY C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE • BUTYLENE GLYCOL • PVP • VP/EICOSENE COPOLYMER • AMINOMETHYL PROPANEDIOL • KAOLIN • PHENOXYETHANOL • CAPRYLYL GLYCOL • PENTYLENE GLYCOL • POTASSIUM CETYL PHOSPHATE • MYRISTIC ACID • [+/- MAY CONTAIN • CI 77499 / IRON OXIDES
I'm not usually picky about mascara ingredients, but this one's a bit of a letdown. I used to love L'Oreal mascaras that had added jojoba oil or castor oil - they had some kind of moisturizing ingredient in them. Even the first L'Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise had jojoba oil in it. I know it might seem like a minor thing, but I do prefer mascaras with some kind of moisturizing ingredient.
Color:
The color is black, and that's not surprising since it's the standard Noir/Black option. But if you take a closer look, you'll notice it's actually a black with a warm undertone.
Removing the Makeup:
I was pleasantly surprised by how easily it comes off with micellar water - no need to scrub for ages. I also tested it with Hada Labo, a Japanese makeup remover, and it worked like a charm, leaving no residue behind.
The Effect on My Lashes:
This mascara does a great job of separating my lashes without clumping them together. It's easy to apply and gives my lashes a nice volume boost. The brush is comfortable to use - it's made of silicone, which helps to distribute the mascara evenly and is gentle on my delicate skin.

Longevity:
I used this mascara for a month and it held up really well at first - nothing fell out, and it stayed all day. But then it started to flake off a bit towards the end of the day. This happened around a month in, and since then, it's been getting worse every day. What's weird is that I usually get eye irritation when my mascara starts to flake off, but this one doesn't seem to be causing any issues for me.
How Does it Compare?
It's hard to say, but it feels like a brand new formula. It's not a clumpy mascara, but it can handle a light rain. It's also easy to remove, which is a plus. It doesn't smudge like regular mascara, either. Subjectively, it's something new and I haven't found anything like it from previous mascaras I've tried.
Verdict:
I'd say the Paradise Big Deal is a good mascara with a comfortable silicone brush that lengthens, separates, and coats your lashes. It's a great everyday mascara because it doesn't give you a dramatic look. It's good for the first month or so, but after that, it can be really disappointing. I'd recommend it to people who change their mascara every month - I've met a few girls in my life who do this, and it's often because of sensitive eyes.
I wouldn't recommend this mascara, as it does flake off, albeit not too badly. But that means I have to check my makeup every now and then, which is a hassle. I'd want a mascara that keeps my lashes looking great all day, especially for a day at the office. Still, it's not a bad product.
I've actually already got a new mascara from Lancôme, the Lash Idôle Flutter Extension Mascara, so I'm saying goodbye to L'Oreal for now.
