My Honest Take on Liza Magazines

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently took a road trip with my mom to the ice show at Ilya Averbukh's 'People's Ice Rink,' and we spent the three-hour drive from Armavir to Krasnodar flipping through Liza magazines. She devoured two of them cover-to-cover, handed them over to me, and grabbed one back on the return trip. As a librarian, I'm surrounded by magazines and newspapers, but unfortunately, we don't have any Liza magazines or similar ones on our shelves. That's because they're super popular among older women. I wanted to see what kind of content they publish in Liza magazines these days.

I recently took a road trip with my mom to the ice show at Ilya Averbukh's 'People's Ice Rink,' and we spent the three-hour drive from Armavir to Krasnodar flipping through Liza magazines that my mom had bought at the train station to pass the time. She devoured two of them cover-to-cover, handed them over to me, and grabbed one back on the return trip.
Liza magazine reviewI'm left with issues 14 and 13 from 2025.
As a librarian, I'm surrounded by magazines and newspapers, but unfortunately, we don't have any Liza magazines or similar ones on our shelves. That's because they're super popular among older women.
I wanted to see what kind of content they publish in Liza magazines these days.
On the first page, there's the content list and the editor's note:
Despite the world changing fast, paper magazines still stick to the same old format they've had for 20 or 30 years.
The entire Liza magazine is divided into separate topics. The spring issue kicks off with the topic 'Fashion'.
The models are signed with clothing brand names (Zarina and others). It's a shame they don't include the prices of the clothing models.
The next section is all about cosmetics, perfumery, and new products in this area.
I've noticed Liza's been putting out Lady Box. A lot of girls are into these beauty boxes, and they're always on the lookout for them online.
The magazine has a few articles on health. In the March issue, they dive into women's health and 5 reasons why you should see a mammologist.
It seems like there's advertising on almost every page, taking up anywhere from 25 to 100% of the space.
The 'My Child' section is a nice touch:
There are a few articles in the 'Psychology' section. To be honest, the advice from the psychologist seems pretty surface-level to me.
I really liked the 'Law and Order' section. It's got concise summaries of laws with explanations from lawyers on everyday questions.
And of course, no women's magazine is complete without recipes!
Recipes are super simple, and you can buy the ingredients at any supermarket. I had to swap out the trendy taliatelle for good old-fashioned macaroni feathers from Schekin or Makfa – they're a lot more affordable!
I was surprised to find that the magazine has a bunch of puzzles, crosswords, and even new-to-me cross-puzzles and other types of rebuses/crosswords.
Aside from the big sections, the magazine has little inserts with one-page chunks of useful info.
My one complaint is the jokes – they just aren't my cup of tea. I don't know anyone who'd appreciate that level of humor.
There are over 60 pages in the magazine, and while there are a lot of ads, they're fewer than in the "Zdorov'ye" magazine. The variety of sections is great – it's the kind of thing that usually appeals to women in their 30s. Although, I'm pretty sure most people reading magazines now are women in their 50s.
I'd give "Liza" magazine 5 out of 5 stars. It's got some really useful info and articles that'll make your trip or evening at home way more enjoyable.
Here are some book and movie recommendations for a 100% fun evening:
I've been binge-watching a lot of Russian series lately, and one that really caught my attention is "От любви до любви". It's a great example of how Russian series can tackle complex themes and still keep you hooked.
But what really stood out to me was the comparison to another series I've been watching, "Отчаянные домохозяйки". While both shows deal with family dynamics, they approach it from completely different angles.
And then there's "Любовь с первого взгляда", a show that I remember watching all the episodes of when it first came out. It's amazing how some shows can make you feel like you're a part of the characters' lives.
But what's even more fascinating is the story behind the creation of a global brand like Макдоналдс. The film 19 минут. Джоди Пиколт is based on a true story and it's a wild ride from start to finish.
