Mixed Feelings About My Lego Website Experience
I've been eyeing a Lego set for my kid on New Year's, and we already have a ton of them. The problem is, we're always running low on bricks, especially when the kids play together or a friend comes over. I started browsing online stores for a set, but most of them were either 65 or 85 pieces in a storage box, and the prices were astronomical. I reckon it's because of the box, which we don't really need.
Then I remembered the official Lego website and decided to check out their selection and prices. I was specifically interested in Lego Duplo sets, but their selection was a letdown. Only a small part of the sets were available for order, some were temporarily out of stock or not available in my area, and half of them were simply not in stock. I know it's probably just pre-holiday chaos, but I expect the official website to have a better selection, no matter what.
One set that caught my eye for its price and piece count was unfortunately unavailable, so I had to settle for another set that was in stock (the big box in the photo), but the price was different.
Since the set cost 2899 rubles, I had to choose another one (which was more expensive on the official website than on other sites) because delivery over 3000 rubles is free. In my case, that's almost 500 rubles. If the order is over 3000 rubles, delivery is free. Of course, I chose the additional set over paying for delivery.
Also, the set is listed as exclusive on the website, but on Ozone, for example, there's the same set at a much higher price. So, it's unclear what's going on with this exclusivity. It's stated that the set is rare and unique and only sold on the official website, but that's not the case.
I was pretty underwhelmed by the bonus offer during checkout. You could choose between a Lego mini-figure from series 20 or another one, but we're not really into those, and I had no idea they even existed.
The shipping from the store took only 3 days. You can track your order on the official website and see where it's located. I initially liked that the delivery date was clearly stated, but then I received an email saying it would be delayed by 1-2 days due to high workload and bad weather conditions - yeah, a little snow in December was a real crisis! But the best part was when the courier called me out of the blue and said he was on his way with my order. He arrived on the exact date specified by the online store, not a day earlier or later. It was a total mess, but I did appreciate being able to pay for the order when I received it from the courier. I think it's only natural that customers have the option to pay upon delivery, not like some stores that require prepayment.
And finally, I got my order. The packaging was spot on. Inside the box, I found the ordered Lego sets, a free mini-figure (check out the photo above), a big promotional magazine featuring Lego sets, and a paper gift bag, which I was particularly stoked about, as it eliminated the need to buy a separate gift box.
I've got to say, I was a bit disappointed by the Lego website's selection of sets. Only a small part of the sets were available for order, and some were temporarily out of stock or not available in my area. I was expecting a better selection, especially from the official website.
Another thing that threw me off was the unclear exclusivity of the purchased set. It was listed as exclusive on the website, but I later found it on Ozone at a much higher price. I'm not sure what's going on with that.
Lastly, there was a bit of a mix-up with the delivery time. I initially liked that the delivery date was clearly stated, but then I received an email saying it would be delayed by 1-2 days due to high workload and bad weather conditions. It was a bit of a letdown, but I appreciated being able to track my order and see where it was located.
Despite these issues, I'm glad I managed to snag the Lego Duplo set I needed at a reasonable price. The gift bag was a nice touch, and I appreciate the option to pay upon delivery.
Overall, I'd recommend making purchases on the official Lego website if you need to or if there are any attractive promotions or sets that are hard to find elsewhere. You can also choose from various payment options, including cash on delivery.
One thing I really like about the official Lego website is the option to track your order and see where it's located. This feature gives you a sense of security and peace of mind, knowing that your order is on its way to you.
However, I do think that the website could improve in a few areas. Firstly, the selection of Lego sets could be better. I was disappointed to find that only a small part of the sets were available for order, and some were temporarily out of stock or not available in my area.
Secondly, the exclusivity of the purchased set was unclear. I was under the impression that the set was rare and unique and only sold on the official website, but it turned out that it was available on other websites as well.
Lastly, there was a slight confusion regarding the delivery time. I initially liked that the delivery date was clearly stated, but then I received an email saying it would be delayed by 1-2 days due to high workload and bad weather conditions.
Despite these issues, I'm glad I managed to snag the Lego Duplo set I needed at a reasonable price. The gift bag was a nice touch, and I appreciate the option to pay upon delivery.
