One of the things that drew me to Lazurny Bereg was its location. It's a relatively new hotel, opened in 2024, and it's situated right on the beach. The rooms are a bit unconventional, but the best part is that you can walk straight from the lobby onto the sand.
The hotel has a big room inventory, and it's a real plus that it has a working elevator. Plus, you can enter and exit from both sides - one side takes you straight onto the beach, while the other side leads to the parking area.
Another bonus for Russian guests is that there's no roaming issue. The hotel is located in the nearby village of Tsandripsh, and all Russian mobile operators have a good signal there. You can connect to the Wi-Fi on site, too.
However, I wouldn't recommend Lazurny Bereg, especially during the off-season. Here's what didn't impress me:
One of the biggest letdowns was the rooms. They're pretty basic, with laminate floors that feel cold underfoot. The overall aesthetic feels cheap and uninviting, which is a shame given the hotel's great location.
Compared to other hotels in the same price range in Gudauta, Lazurny Bereg falls short in terms of comfort. The corridors and rooms are carpeted, which makes a big difference.
Another thing that stood out was the pool in October - it wasn't heated. And for the same price, I've stayed in other places with warm outdoor pools. But, just to note, there are two pools - one for adults and one for kids.
The kitchen was a major letdown. The buffet was tiny, with hardly any options for main courses, sides, or desserts. The salads were made from leftover food from previous meals, and it was all just a bit gross. The hot dishes were cold, congealed, and inedible. And to top it all off, there was a sign in the dining area saying no photos or videos allowed - which was a first for me.
On the plus side, this is a resort, so you'd expect some activities and entertainment. But in October, there was nothing to do except order expensive excursions. And if it rains, you're stuck in your room with a TV. Yes, there's a bistro on the reception with booze and ice cream, but it felt like people were just hanging out there because they didn't know what else to do.
Unless you're only looking for a beach vacation, I wouldn't recommend this place. It's got potential, but they really need to work on the service, entertainment, and food quality.
I was really impressed with the build quality of this thing - the buttons feel super solid and the overall design is just so well thought out. The battery life has been a game changer for me, I've been using it non-stop for days and it still hasn't run out of juice. I've been putting it through its paces, and it's handled everything I've thrown at it with ease.
