Lastochka Train

I've taken the Lastochka Train a few times, and it's been a total game-changer for getting around. The ride is super smooth, and there's plenty of room for passengers - it's basically like taking a bus, but way more comfortable. Whether you're commuting to work or heading out for a weekend getaway, Lastochka Train is a reliable and convenient option that's hard to beat.

Lastochka Train: A Scenic Ride to the Sea - Worth the Trip?

summarizeEditor's Summary

The Lastochka train is a hidden gem for anyone looking for a scenic ride to the sea. With its massive windows, comfortable temperature, and on-time departures, you'll feel right at home. However, be prepared for pricey tickets during holidays and limited boarding time. Choose your seat wisely, as there are two classes to pick from: first and second. We opted for second class, which offered more space for our bags and the ability to buy snacks and drinks onboard. The train also has air conditioning, water coolers, and power outlets, making it a convenient option for travelers. But what really made our trip stand out was the stunning views of the coastline.

Hello to all who've stopped by!
I was stoked to share my experience with those planning their first trip on the adorable and chatty train called 'Lazurny'. I'll give you the lowdown on my impressions and observations from a few trips.
Lazurny Tuapse Adler reviewWhere to buy a Lazurny ticket? You won't find ticket counters for this train at regular stations, so you'll need to head to the main railway station or buy it online at RZD.
This train runs daily to the south.
Choose your seat wisely.
You've got two classes to choose from: first and second. The difference lies in the seats and the number of passengers nearby, as well as the price.
We opted for second class. There are seats by the table or just two seats in a row, like in a bus.
Since we were traveling with a kid, we always chose seats by the table so we could play and draw. However, be prepared for the fact that seats by the table are designed for six people. So, if you're traveling in a smaller group, your neighbors will be well taken care of (in peak season, almost all seats are booked).
If you're traveling as a couple, it's better to buy separate seats, but you won't have a table.
Also, consider the direction of the train's movement so you don't end up facing the wrong way if that's important to you.
PriceIt's pricier than a regular electric train.
For example, a ticket from Rostov to Krasnodar last summer cost 1300 rubles (3 hours journey time). A ticket from Krasnodar to Tuapse costs around 600 rubles (2 hours journey time).
A ticket from Rostov to Anapa costs 1600 rubles. Of course, this is the price for one way.
Prices are higher in the summer and during holidays (in the best RZD tradition).
There are various discounts available, such as for kids of different ages.
Train interior and my impressions
The entrance to the train is only in some cars, not all. It gets pretty crowded, especially when they're checking documents.
Lastochka review Inside, there's plenty of space for luggage and bags.
Lastochka review
Choosing seats in Lastochka There are storage spaces above, just like on a plane.
Some cars also have hooks for hanging clothes and power outlets. There's even a cooler with water.
The panoramic windows are amazing, offering breathtaking views.
Some cars are even equipped with bio-toilets.They're clean and pretty comfortable.
Lastochka review There's water, soap, and paper. The air conditioner works great, I even froze once last summer. It's warm in the winter.
Review of LastochkaAll stations and train speed are displayed on a special scoreboard.
Lastochka review of the wagonThe disembarkation time is very short, they won't let you out to smoke. The conductors occasionally go around with food carts. You can buy coffee, a sandwich, chocolate, or chips. The prices are way too high, but it's cheaper than at the airport.I had a cup of instant coffee with cream for 90 rubles, and a sandwich with a thin layer of sausage and cheese for around 300 rubles. It's better to bring your own snacks.
Coffee in LastochkaThe seats are comfortable. The tables fold out.
Seagull chair review Wrapping up,I have to say, the overall ride is pretty comfortable.
The train itself is new and modern.
There are a lot of thoughtful touches, like outlets, a cooler, and air conditioning.
One thing that would be nice is if the Seagull train could go a bit faster, especially on some of the longer stretches where it's really slow. Although, it can reach a pretty great speed of 140 km/h.
Long trips over six hours can be pretty tiring. I've got friends who've taken eight-hour trips, and by the time it's my turn, I'm already exhausted, let alone with kids. As an alternative to buses, it's night and day, of course, but if the trip is long, I'd still choose a full-fledged train.
The train is great for cruising along the coast, and it's a fantastic option that won't disappoint with its stunning views and complete freedom from traffic jams.
Seagull Tuapse - Krasnodar review I highly recommend this mode of transportation!
Postcard from RZD from my last Seagull tripWishing you many more pleasant trips and new experiences in them.Read also:
New Year's on the sea
I've been to some train stations in my time, but the one in Anapa with a garden is a real gem.
I've also been to Tuapse and it's a great spot for a relaxing getaway.
Another place I've been to is Lazarevskoe - it's a beautiful area with plenty of things to see and do.
And of course, I've also been to Rostov-on-Don - it's a great city with a lot to offer.
Thanks for reading!
