Hello everyone from the laundry room!
I'm obsessed with laundry detergent capsules now - I've tried about 3-4 different brands before falling head over heels for Lamm. Specifically, Lamm Aroma (the pink ones) have stolen my heart.
I'm a total laundry enthusiast, by the way. I mean, who doesn't love the feeling of transforming dirty clothes into clean ones? It's like a meditation, a ritual of sorts. I love the smell of fresh laundry, the sound of the washing machine, and the satisfaction of folding and putting away clean clothes.
And, as an added bonus, capsules are super cost-effective. I've noticed this from my frequent purchases of laundry detergent. Initially, I thought capsules were a bit pricey, especially in small packs.
I first discovered Lamm capsules in a delivery from Lenta. Someone had written, 'for a whole house aroma of cleanliness' - that sealed the deal for me. I love the idea of having a 'clean house' scent, just like those lovely pastries and irons.
I bought 12 capsules for 400 rubles (although I've seen them in a fixed price pack of 15 capsules for 15 rubles each).
Produced in Germany
Washing temperature: 30-90 degrees
My label of choice? A cute little lamb)
When the results met my lofty laundry expectations - both in terms of stain removal and that whole-house cleanliness scent - I started to crunch the numbers.
It turns out:
the best time to buy them is during a sale (who knew?)especially when it comes to pointsthe most cost-effective option is the 50-capsule pack for around 1000 rubles
I have to say, buying a single box is a great idea, because you can just keep adding new ones to it and not have to store multiple boxes. I've had a powder in a box from L'Herbane for ages, and it's still going strong. Okay, so it's not the cheapest option, but it keeps the capsules dry, which is a total game-changer. I mean, with tablets in capsules, if you get even a tiny bit of water in there, it's a total loss.
The text on the box is ridiculously small, but at least there are some pictures to warn you - don't drink it, don't put it in your eyes, and don't give it to kids. The box has some nice latches, but you won't break your nails trying to open it.
CAPSULE TECHNOLOGY
Capsules come in all shapes and sizes - squares, circles, and even ones with three or four 'sections'. I didn't go into the details of what's inside, but it's a concentrated formula, whatever that might be.
The plus side is that you don't need to worry about the contents getting dirty, because you can just throw in a new box. For example, if you're doing laundry and you've got a whole load of clothes, bedding, and towels, one box is enough. If you've got something really dirty, you can just throw in a second one. Just make sure you remember to add it and don't leave it empty.
Capsules are pretty big, especially compared to the ones from Fix Price or Yarcevsky. They're similar in size and shape to Synergetics, but way more concentrated, if you ask me.
Types of fabric get cleaned differently, and I've even used them to clean some weird stuff like membranes and whatnot.
I've gotta say, though - there's no fabric softener effect at all in these. Everything just looks dull and worn out.
But, honestly, I don't even care about that. The fresh, clean scent is what gets me every time. I'm literally nose-deep in it whenever I'm getting them out.
They do a great job of getting rid of stains. And the AROMA - it's like a field of flowers and a crunchy, icy freshness. Even when I'm not drying them outside on the balcony or on a clothesline (which I'd love to do, but I don't have either), they still smell super fresh, like I'm hanging them out in the open. It's seriously like a breath of fresh air. And, honestly, I'm a total sucker for that kind of scent. I love when people smell like laundry detergent.
THE VERDICT IS IN (by the way, I've been using these for two months now, and I've only used them twice a week on average ).
I've gone through - get this - 24 capsules in total. That's 12 capsules per month, mathematically speaking.
I'd probably end up using more than that if they were cheaper, because I'd be tempted to use two at a time for extra freshness. And don't even get me started on the powder - I haven't used that in ages because it's just too expensive and not worth it.
Even if you're getting them at a bad price point of 12 per month, they still last you a whole monthBut if you're getting them in bulk - 50 capsules in a big pack - it's way more cost-effectiveWith the second option, you'd get a month and a half's worth, which is roughly 250 for the whole 30 daysRight now, it just feels like there's no better option out there, but that's probably just a phaseAnd, of course, the scent and crunchy freshness
The only downside is that I still need to use a separate fabric softener for my plushies.
