I chose this beach hotel in Chenang for my New Year's dates, but I had a hard time finding a room - it was a super popular time to visit. Luckily, I managed to snag a spot at the Langkapuri Resort Langkawi 3*, Malaysia, Langkawi Island.
So, here's my review of the Langkapuri Resort Langkawi 3* - a 3-star hotel in Langkawi Island, Malaysia.
Langkapuri Resort Langkawi 3*, Malaysia, Langkawi Island - hotel reviewFrom the photos, the hotel looked amazing, but in person, it was just a regular building.
At the reception, we were asked to show our passports and informed that check-in was after 3 PM. We weren't too bothered, since we were heading to the Underwater World Langkawi anyway.
They took a tourist tax from us for the room.
We were told we could leave our luggage and come back at 3 PM. There were a lot of people waiting for check-in, so we ended up coming back at 4:30 PM when everyone had been checked in.
We were pleasantly surprised when we were upgraded to a Junior Suite instead of our booked standard room.
We took the elevator up to our floor, where there was a sign showing the floor numbers - on the 5th floor, there was a bar where we were supposed to grab some welcome drinks.
The Room.
Our room was located at the end of a long corridor, which was actually a plus - we wouldn't have to deal with people walking by our door or hearing the elevator.
It was a spacious room with white walls, except for the grey wall behind the bed. The floor was covered in tile, which made it feel a bit less cozy.
I was stuck in a bit of a weird situation, with a small TV hanging on the wall in front of me, which somehow reminded me of a hospital room.
Next to the double bed, there was an air conditioner hanging from the ceiling.
Langkapuri Resort Langkawi 3*, Malaysia, Langkawi Island - ReviewThe blackout curtains were a nice touch, and the large, panoramic windows were a bonus.
The view from the window, however, was a bit of a letdown – it looked out onto the parking lot. But, let's be real, we didn't book a room with a view, did we?
The kid's bed had a small bedside table, and there were power outlets on top of it – a thoughtful touch, considering the different plug types used in Asia.
Opposite the kid's bed, there was a small table.
There was a kettle on the table with tea accessories and water bottles, which were restocked every day.
The mini bar was located in the cabinet under the table.
The ironing board and iron were stored in the large wooden closet.
Bathroom.
The bathroom was a good size.
There were hygiene products next to the sink.
There were no towels in the bathroom, just the ones on the bed - one per person. Not even a foot towel was provided.
I had to put one of the towels on the floor because water from the shower was all over the bathroom floor. But the showerhead was great – the water pressure was consistent, so I enjoyed washing my hair.
Beach.
We didn't have a private beach, but there was a short path from our hotel to the beach – it took only a minute or two.
And there you are – on the beach! The sand was so soft and comfortable.
If you wanted to lounge on a sunbed, you'd have to pay for it or buy something from the nearby café.
Some people just spread their towels under the palm trees and didn't need any sunbeds.
If you're coming from the Chenang Mall, there's also a nice asphalt path to the beach.
There are plenty of cafes nearby that offer drinks and lounge chairs.
I chose Chenang Beach for New Year's Eve to watch the firework show, which was happening right outside our hotel.
At midnight, we watched the fireworks display.
What's nearby.
The hotel is right next to a taxi stand.
There are also markets on either side of the road.
There's a small park just around the corner where the robots come out to play at night.
Just a 2-3 minute walk from our hotel is the Chenang Mall, where I stocked up on some great cosmetics.
For dinner, we headed to the restaurant Yasmin, which served up some amazing kebabs.
Breakfast was at the Rivera coffee shop, where the coffee was top-notch.
One of the highlights of our stay was trying the local spaghetti.
The Underwater World of Langkawi, which is located right next to our hotel, was a must-visit. We got to feed the seals and penguins, and it was an unforgettable experience.
Taking a taxi ride to the Dream Forest, a magical park, was also a great idea.
Verdict.
For the price, this hotel is a solid choice. Yes, the furniture is a bit worn out, and the plumbing is old. The cleaning lady comes at exactly 9:00, even though we asked her not to clean our room every day. We only got three big towels, too.
Don't expect a warm welcome at the reception desk, as they're always busy.
I'd say for the price, the Langkapuri Resort Langkawi 3*, Malaysia, Langkawi Island delivers on the value for money front. So, it's unfair to nitpick. Plus, they upgraded us to a better room for free.
Of course, it's not the best hotel we've stayed at on Langkawi, but it's a fraction of the cost of the others – we're talking 13k per night. So, I'd give it a solid 5.
