Raven Ushanka Hat, Art. 7

I've been rocking this Raven Ushanka hat (art. 7) for a week now, and it's officially my go-to winter accessory. The build quality is seriously impressive - the buttons feel solid, and it's super easy to put on and take off. Plus, the battery life is a total surprise - it lasts way longer than I expected. I'm really happy with my purchase, and I think it's a great value for money. Whether I'm heading out for a chilly morning walk or just lounging around, this hat keeps me warm and cozy.

My Kid's Ushanka Hat from Zhuravlik: A Great Find, But Not Without Its Flaws

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently picked up this adorable ushanka hat with mouse ears from Zhuravlik at the Globus store, and I gotta say, it's been a total game changer for my 10-year-old. The style is spot on, and it's warm, but there are some minor flaws. For one, the yarn material and color are slightly different between the hat and the matching snood. But honestly, it's not a deal-breaker. The real test came when we tried it out – the buttons feel solid, and the battery (yes, it's got a battery!) lasts longer than I expected. All in all, I'd say it's worth every penny, but don't expect it to be perfect.

Hello everyone!
I've noticed that ushanka hats are back in style this year, and I've loved them since childhood. But the thing is, they used to be super affordable, and now I'm struggling to find one that fits my kid.
I stumbled upon this adorable ushanka hat with mouse ears from the Zhuravlik brand at the Globus store in the kids' section. It came with a matching snood, and my 10-year-old loved it so much she didn't want to take it off. We thought the model was great - stylish, trendy, and warm.
The yarn material and color are slightly different - the snood is smoother and shinier, while the hat has more fur. But honestly, it's not a big deal, and you hardly notice it when you're wearing it.
When I saw the price - 900 rubles - I was taken aback, because similar models on the market cost around 2000 rubles. So, the question of whether to buy it or not didn't even arise. However, I was curious - how did a hat designed for women end up in the kids' section?
It turns out Zhuravlik buys hats from a workshop in the Moscow region and slaps their own labels on them. So, it's no surprise to find a hat like this, but under a different brand - not just for kids, but for women too.
I wouldn't say it's a kid's size, though - 55-56 cm is more like an adult's head size. Of course, it's all individual, but even for me, it's a bit loose. Still, it's super comfortable, and there are no annoying elastic bands on the forehead, which drives me crazy.
The pattern is straightforward and simple, and you can see the inner weave from afar. I'm not sure if that's just me, but I'd love for some knitters to correct me if I'm wrong. The large weave adds some volume, and I'm a fan of simple patterns like this – I'm not a fan of all the fancy stuff, especially in headwear.
The construction is solid, even, and free of obvious flaws. You can see the seam on the back, but it's not a big deal – it's easy to cover up at home, and it's not super noticeable when you're wearing it.
The inside of the hat is lined with a fleecy lining, which is great for keeping warm and windproof – but it does cause some static cling. I haven't worn hats like this in ages because of that, but for kids, I'd prioritize warmth over static.
There's a small decoration on the front that's kind of cute, but also a bit of a personal preference. I like that it's removable, though – that's a nice touch. For a kid, it's fine, but I wouldn't wear it myself.
Despite the cool design, I did find some downsides. First off, the material is completely synthetic – no natural fibers in sight. The breakdown is: 80% of the top is made of Pan, 10% is made of Pa, 8% is made of Pä, and the lining is 100% Pä.That's a bit of a letdown for me, since I'm always on the lookout for natural materials.
I've got to say, the hat's design is pretty great, but it's a bit too big for my kid, which creates some issues with wind resistance, especially on the sides where the earflaps get blown back.
Despite its flaws, this hat's got some real charm to it, and you could easily overlook its shortcomings if you're willing to look past them. For example, to prevent the wind from blowing in from the front, it's actually pretty practical to wear it with your hair down. It looks way better that way, too.
I was surprised by how much I ended up liking this hat. My daughter saw it and said she wanted one just like it right away. This hat's got some interesting design elements, but it's not super practical, and the materials could be better. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide what matters most.
The black color is pretty versatile and goes with just about anything, making it easy to mix and match with other accessories. I've seen it in other colors online, like olive green and blue, which are pretty nice too.
After three months of wear, it still looks brand new, with no signs of stretching or pilling - that's definitely a plus. All in all, this hat's got some great qualities, but some of its flaws hold it back from being perfect, so I had to give it four stars.
I'd still recommend it to anyone looking for a good hat, though!
