A Hidden Gem in Kazan: Stof Bar Delivers on Classic Cocktails and More
Hello everyone!
I'm not a fan of vacations without a solid bar scene, but I guess if you don't drink or have a tiny kid, it's an exception. My friend and I went to Kazan, and friends recommended checking out Petrovsky Stof bar. They've got a huge selection of liqueurs to suit any taste.
The bar is located on Baumana Street, 9, which is super convenient because there's always a crowd. When we arrived, we noticed the place was super popular: all the tables were occupied, both inside and outside. There was a line of people waiting for free tables.
We weren't able to snag a table, unfortunately. They only accept guests on a first-come, first-served basis. That's got its pros and cons.
By the way, there are two similar spots in Kazan - one's a restaurant, and the other is a bar. Be careful not to get confused.
After two attempts, we finally managed to get inside. The manager led us to our table. We settled in inside. There were a lot of people, and the tables were packed tightly together, creating a loud atmosphere throughout the hall. The interior, however, was pleasant and even intimate. The dim lighting added to the coziness. For a bar, it's not bad.
Stof, KazanThe menu's impressive with its variety: appetizers, salads, soups, burgers, and meat on the grill. However, the prices for these dishes may seem a bit steep.
If you're looking for a place to grab a snack and have a drink, you might want to consider another spot.
Stof, KazanThey've got a wide selection of alcoholic drinks to suit any taste - from sweet to sour liqueurs. It's especially beneficial to buy large sets for a company. For example, 'Lad'ya' offers 34 rums for 5600 rubles, while 'Fregat' provides 30 rums for 12,500 rubles. There are also larger sets available.
These sets are super popular: while we were there, the waiters kept bringing out orders for large groups. The design looks impressive and grabs attention.
We were blown away by the sheer variety of drinks on the menu - from infusions to cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, lemonade, tea, and coffee. It's a real treat.
Shot, KazanWe were eyeing the 'Amur' cocktail, but unfortunately, the bartender told us it wasn't available that day. He recommended 'The Empress' instead, and we went for it. It was our first time at the place, and the bartender gave us a detailed rundown of the infusions used in the cocktail. We were impressed.
We also ordered a shot of 'Baikal' infusion to try and some fries as a snack. Our total bill came out to around 2200 rubles for the two of us. It wasn't exactly budget-friendly, but we were on vacation, so we splurged.
The first drinks we were served were the 'Baikal' infusions. They arrived within 5-7 minutes. They came with orange slices, which added a nice touch. The infusion tasted a bit like Jägermeister, but watered down and with a thinner consistency. That's not surprising, given it's made with herbs. Overall, the infusions were tasty, but I think they'd be more suited to guys. Girls might prefer something sweeter.
Shot, KazanThe cocktails that followed were amazing. They were sweet, but not too sweet, and the booze was barely noticeable. Maybe that's because the previous infusions had already kicked in.
Shot, KazanThe fries were top-notch. Even better than what you'd get at a fast-food joint. They were crunchy, salty, and the portion was perfect for the two of us.
Stof, KazanI was super impressed by the staff - they're clearly pros who know their stuff. They're always happy to help, offer recommendations, and get the job done quickly.
The drinks and fries were a real treat. I'm guessing the rest of the menu is just as good.
Too bad we ended up in the main hall instead of the outdoor terrace. The live music on the terrace is great, but it's a bit drowned out by the voices in the hall.
All things considered, despite the high prices, I'd give this place a solid 5 out of 5.
