I've got one confession to make - I'm absolutely terrified of heights, but I'm absolutely obsessed with Ferris wheels, panoramic views, observation decks, and cable cars. If I'm in a new city, the first thing I do is try to find the best spot to take it all in from above. And Kazan's Ferris wheel did not disappoint!
Kazan's Ferris wheel, also known as the Riviera Wheel, is a must-visit attraction in the city. It's located at Amir Khan Street, 1e, Kazan, and is open from 10am to 11pm on weekdays and 9am to midnight on weekends. This impressive structure stands at an impressive 65 meters tall and has 36 capsules, each dedicated to a great city around the world.
As you ride, you'll get to experience the sights and sounds of different countries, from Paris to Moscow. The design of each capsule is beautifully done, with images of famous landmarks and popular music from the country. We timed our visit to catch the sunset, and it was absolutely breathtaking. The views of the city from the top were stunning, and we could see the entire complex's territory, including the kids' play areas and the Aquapark.
At night, the Ferris wheel is lit up in all these cool colors and lighting effects – like a giant Christmas tree! The ticket price was pretty reasonable, especially considering the views you get from the top. Before 6 pm, adult tickets are 500 rubles, and children under 14 are 400 rubles. After 6 pm, adult tickets are 550 rubles, and children under 14 are 450 rubles.
One thing that bugged me was the long wait times, but if I closed my eyes, the ride was actually pretty comfortable and fun! We ended up with Tunisia, and while the music wasn't really my cup of tea, we still had a blast riding to it. The gondola itself was pretty comfy and warm, with seated areas, which I appreciated, especially after riding the Moscow Eye, where you're standing the whole time.
As you're rising, you can see the entire complex's territory really well, including the Aquapark, which is just incredible. At night, you can even spot people swimming through the panoramic windows. I noticed a huge outdoor pool on the Aquapark's territory, which I would love to visit on a hot summer day.
However, the construction around the Ferris wheel is pretty ugly, and it really takes away from the view. But hey, the view from 65 meters up is absolutely stunning! The whole city is lit up, and it's like a mini Vegas right here in Kazan. And the Kazanka River is just incredible!
After one loop around, we were asked to get off, which was a bit disappointing. But like on all the other attractions in the city, we were forced to take a photo before getting on, and, predictably, we still didn't buy a magnet.
I really enjoyed the Ferris wheel ride, and I think it's a must-do for any tourist visiting Kazan. The views from the top are some of the best in the city, and it's a great way to see the city from a different perspective. They also offer a romantic dinner package with champagne and all the trimmings for an extra fee, which I think would be a great idea – proposing to your significant other at the highest point of the ride is a pretty unique and memorable experience!
I had a blast trying to guess which country I'd get to visit next. So, I highly recommend taking a ride on this attraction and checking out Kazan. My rating's a solid 4.5 stars, and I'd give it my highest recommendation!
