Kata Sea Breeze 3-Star Hotel, Phuket, Thailand

I'm always on the hunt for a chill getaway in Phuket, and Kata Sea Breeze 3-Star Hotel is one of my top picks. This 3-star resort is literally right on the beach, so you can wake up to those stunning ocean views and spend your days lounging by the waves. Plus, it's got all the amenities you need to make your trip easy and enjoyable - we're talking great location, comfy rooms, and super friendly staff. I've stayed here a few times, and it's always a breeze.

  • The daily cleaning was top-notch, and the staff did a great job keeping the grounds looking their best.
  • The location was fantastic, with Kata Beach just a short walk away and plenty of amenities nearby.
  • We loved the lush greenery and plant life on the grounds – it felt like a little oasis in the midst of the bustling town.
  • The staff were friendly and helpful, and the reception area was always well-stocked with fresh fruit and drinks.
  • The market and shops nearby had a great selection of local products and souvenirs.
  • The hotel's transfer service from the airport was convenient and hassle-free.

remove_circle Cons

  • The rooms were a bit old and in need of renovation – they didn't quite match the rest of the hotel's modern vibe.
  • The Wi-Fi was only available at the reception area, which was a bit of a pain when you're trying to work or relax in your room.
  • The hotel's website didn't always accurately reflect the room types and prices, which caused some confusion when we booked.
  • The breakfast options were a bit limited, and the quality of the food could be improved.
  • The hotel's policy on refunds and cancellations was a bit unclear, which made us nervous when we had to change our plans.

Editor's Summary

We headed back to Phuket in late autumn 2025, and this time we chose to stay in Kata. Our hotel, Kata Sea Breeze, had a fantastic location – Kata Beach was just a 10-minute walk away, and everything you need is within walking distance. The daily cleaning and well-maintained grounds were definite pluses. However, the old rooms and limited Wi-Fi were drawbacks. We were happy with our stay, but it wasn't perfect.

Hello there! We returned to Thailand for the second time in late autumn 2025. The previous hotel we stayed at last year was really great, it was a brand-new four-star hotel on Karon Beach (link to detailed review).

This time we chose Phuket again, but we decided to stay in a different area, on Kata. We chose a hotel with a territory and settled on Sea Breeze.

Kata Sea Breeze 3*LOCATION:
Thailand, Kata, 72 Kata Road, Karon District, Phuket, Thailand

We got to the airport in about an hour.

We had a transfer from Biblioglobus company.

The location is really good, Kata Beach is just a 10-minute walk away, and everything you need is within walking distance: cafes, pharmacies, shops, street food, and a market a bit further away.

COST We paid a package deal that included flights and transfer, so I'll provide some general information about the costs. According to the hotel's website, the cost of staying at the Kata Sea Breeze Resort starts from 2,610 rubles per day. The price may vary depending on the type of room, season, demand, and additional services.

RECEPTION is relatively small, with only 4 counters and often they were occupied.

They would occasionally leave drinks for guests (lemon and another flavorless water).

Kata Sea Breeze 3*The bar area is adjacent to the reception, with a few more counters.

Kata Sea Breeze 3*From this area, you enter the conference room, which is also relatively small.

CHECK-IN went smoothly and quickly.

They escorted us to our room with our luggage, and no one asked for tips, as some reviewers mentioned.

DEPOSIT is required.

We left $50 as a deposit and got it back in full (we had everything in our room intact, no damage or loss).

If something gets damaged or goes missing, be prepared to pay for it – it's not Turkey, where Russians take everything that's not nailed down.

Kata Sea Breeze 3*ROOM REVIEW.Our room was on the 4th floor, and we always used the elevator.

By the way, the hotel's mascot is an ant, and it's depicted on many of the hotel's attributes, including the elevator doors.

Kata Sea Breeze 3*One thing that stood out right away was the numbers were in a narrow, long open corridor.

Kata Sea Breeze 3*The room was small and 'tired', but it was clean and well-maintained overall. The furniture was old and a bit worn out, though.

Kata Sea Breeze 3*This was probably the most basic room we'd stayed in, but we didn't let it get to us. We soon got used to it. The bed was big, the mattress and pillows were comfy, and we slept well. We also liked that the room was spacious.

Kata Sea Breeze 3*However, there was a major issue - there were no shelves or drawers to store our stuff and cosmetics. All we had was a closet with hangers and a table with a dresser. Everything was spread out right there. Kata Sea Breeze 3*The fridge worked, and it was empty (the mini-bar wasn't included in our package). We put water and fruits we bought outside the hotel in it. In the closet, there was a safe, and we were advised to keep our documents and money there to avoid any trouble.

Kata Sea Breeze 3*Of course, there was a hair dryer, and it wasn't one of those flimsy hotel hair dryers. It was a good, functional one, like the one I have at home (I think it was a Philips).

Kata Sea Breeze 3*I guess I don't need to mention the air conditioner - it's a given at this point. The bathroom was shared, and it was old, but clean. The area around the sink was quite nice, with glass shelves and clean towels. We had two big towels and two small white towels for the room, as well as two big brown towels for the beach. We could swap them out for free at any time, which was a nice touch.

Kata Sea Breeze 3*

So, the welcome pack had some nice touches, like cotton pads and sticks.

There were also two 0.5-liter glass bottles of water, and here's the important thing: these bottles are reusable. Don't throw them away or leave them in your room, because they'll only refill them with new water when the old one is empty.

At first, I didn't know this and kept throwing them away, but when we took them to the beach, we realized they only refilled one bottle. I'm guessing if you throw the bottle away outside the hotel, they'll deduct the cost from your deposit.

The toilet was clean and comfortable, and instead of the usual plunger, they used a shower. No toilet paper either, just these thin towels that took some getting used to.

There were always plenty of towels (more than half, I'd say), and they replenished them regularly.

Kata Sea Breeze 3* The shower area was nice, with a bathtub that we hadn't seen in a while, but it was clean, and we only took showers, of course.

Kata Sea Breeze 3* The shampoo and body wash dispensers were always full, and they replenished them regularly, too. Behind the glass wall was a cozy balcony with a clothes dryer.

Kata Sea Breeze 3* The humidity was high, so we dried our clothes on the dryer, and sometimes even on the chairs.

Kata Sea Breeze 3* The view from the balcony at night was especially beautiful.

Kata Sea Breeze 3*Cleaning was done daily, and it was top-notch, with no complaints about cleanliness. We only tipped a couple of times, and it was a small amount.

THE TERRITORY

It's a decent size (considering it's a Thai hotel, and our previous experience), and it's quite long.

There's a map for convenience, but I'm not sure anyone would really need it, as it's easy to navigate.

Kata Sea Breeze 3* The pools were always pretty empty, and I never had to deal with a crowded one. The water was a bit chilly for my taste. The pool area shuts down at 20:00, but I've seen people sneaking in after hours.

Kata Sea Breeze 3* Having a big territory is a must for me when traveling with kids, and this place delivered. We spent most of our time exploring the area outside the hotel. They set up a kids' zone on the lawn in the evenings, complete with a big white screen showing something for the little ones (I'm not sure what it was, maybe cartoons).

There's also a small kids' playground.

Overall, the territory is beautiful, with plenty of greenery and well-maintained facilities.

Kata Sea Breeze 3* FOOD (BREAKFAST). Breakfast was included in our package, and it was a decent spread, although not as extensive as what I've seen in Turkey.

We had breakfast in the only restaurant on site, which is located on the first floor. You can enter from the inside or the outside.

Kata Sea Breeze 3* The restaurant has a decent number of tables, both inside and on the patio. However, we did have to wait a few times for a table to become available (we were a group of four, so we needed four seats).

Kata Sea Breeze 3* We didn't have to wait too long for a table to become available, and we managed to snag one eventually. There's a sign at the entrance reminding guests not to overeat, as they claim to be reducing food waste and helping feed children in other countries.

The selection wasn't huge, but there was something for everyone. You could always find something that suited your taste.

The hot dishes (soups) were available in 2-3 variations, while the main courses and sides were 3 options each.

Kata Sea Breeze 3* You could add your own sauces and spices to taste. Kata Sea Breeze 3* For example, I had Pad Thai with chicken, white rice, and macaroni with veggies.

The last two buffet dishes were kept warm and featured chicken and pork sausages, which are a staple in Thai hotels and are actually pretty tasty and filling.

Breakfast options are pretty straightforward - you've got your omelets, scrambled eggs, and boiled eggs.

You can also ask them to whip up an omelet with some veggies, and they'll throw in some bacon if you're feeling fancy.

Kata Sea Breeze 3* The veggie selection's decent, but it's not like they're going to blow your mind.

Kata Sea Breeze 3* They've got your usual condiments and sauces. There's usually 2-3 types of fruit, and it's pretty much the same thing every day.

They've got yogurt, too.

Kata Sea Breeze 3* There's a selection of jams and butter (I'm not a fan of the butter, but it's there).

Kata Sea Breeze 3* They've got bread and baked goods.Toast's a big hit, and I actually liked the waffle things - they're like our homemade cookies, but super soft and waffle-y.

Kata Sea Breeze 3*They've got sweet and dry breakfast drinks, but I never actually tried them.

Kata Sea Breeze 3* We were drinking tea and coffee every day, and the tea was actually pretty good - not as strong as what I'm used to, but it was fine.

Kata Sea Breeze 3*Here's what my breakfasts looked like - it was pretty much the same thing every day.

Tea, eggs, and greens were my go-to's.

Kata Sea Breeze 3* Speaking of cheese, there's always some issue with that - I love cheese, but they'd either run out or I'd have to ask for it.There was no problem with the sausage, though - it was always available.

Kata Sea Breeze 3* All in all, the selection's not huge, but it worked for us - we never left the table hungry.

DINNER.

The restaurant, as far as I know, operates on a menu basis, but we didn't visit for lunch or dinner.

However, they did organize something like an all-you-can-eat dinner on the hotel grounds a few times.

The price was 490 baht per person.

They set up tables outdoors, just like the food options.

Kata Sea Breeze 3*We visited once, and our experience wasn't great. The food selection was very limited, with only shrimp as the seafood option, which they cooked in front of us, but they were all undercooked and raw inside. Plus, since it's all-you-can-eat, you can eat as much as you want.

The only decent options were the chicken and pork skewers on wooden sticks.

There were only a few desserts (2-3), and they weren't great.

Drinks weren't included in the meal price at all.

This wasn't particularly good value overall; we spent roughly the same amount (if not less) at street cafes, including non-alcoholic drinks.

TRANSFER to Kata Beach.

Once or twice a day at a specific time, a shuttle bus would take those who wanted to go to the beach from the hotel.

Kata Sea Breeze 3*The beach was about a 10-minute walk, but we did use the shuttle service a couple of times. Honestly, most people either didn't know about the transfer or preferred walking, unlike us (lazybones).

STAFF.

They were friendly and welcoming.

We never encountered any rudeness or condescension, whether it was at the reception or with the room service. We could always ask for extra towels or additional tea and coffee, and they were always accommodating.

INTERNET.

I almost forgot to mention the most important thing – there's free Wi-Fi only in the reception area and nearby. You have to pay extra for it in the rooms.

The Wi-Fi on my balcony barely reached the reception area, and the speed was extremely slow.

To stay connected for calling taxis, checking the area, or reading reviews about nearby cafes, we bought a SIM card at the 7/11 store. We got lucky with a promotion that included unlimited internet for the rest of the month. In general, it's a good idea to get extra data.

CONCLUSION.

To sum it up, I'd say the hotel isn't perfect, especially considering the furniture in the room, but we were still satisfied with it, given it's only a 3-star hotel. The service was normal, the rooms were clean, and we didn't encounter any issues during our stay.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely, as long as you don't expect some kind of unnatural luxury from a 3-star hotel.

Some of our excursions on Phuket:

- Phuket Colors – a review of the guided tour (link to review).

- Strictly 18+ Wake-up Show (link to review).

- Freedom Beach - what a massive letdown (check out my review).

- Caron Beach - our absolute fave (check out my review).

Now, for comparison, here are the hotels we stayed at in Turkey:

- Club Hotel Sera 5*, Antalya (check out my review).

- Selectum Family Resort Side 5* (check out my review).

Thanks for reading, folks! Safe travels!
