A Budget-Friendly Movie Experience at Karo Cinemas

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm not a big fan of going to the movies, but Karo Cinemas has won me over with their affordable prices and cozy atmosphere. The 'Height' cinema is brand new and super modern, while the 'Vegas' cinema is massive with 22 screens. We went to see 'Whales: Guardians of the Planet' and were impressed with the comfortable seats and great sound quality. If you're looking for a budget-friendly movie experience, Karo Cinemas is definitely worth checking out. Plus, their cheap tickets make it a great value for money. One thing that really stood out to me was the variety of snacks available at the 'Vegas' cinema - they had everything from classic popcorn to more unique options like gourmet candy. And if you're planning on going to a show at the 'Vegas' cinema, be prepared for crowds, especially during peak hours. But overall, I was really impressed with the modern amenities and great sound quality at the 'Vegas' cinema.

I'm not a big fan of going to the movies, especially these days. There's just not much worth watching. Plus, I've gotten used to online streaming services. It's cheaper, and it's convenient. But we still like to go to the cinema every now and then. This year, we only made it to 'Cheburashka', but today we went to see a documentary called 'Whales: Guardians of the Planet'. You might wonder why we'd go to see a film like that in the cinema, but the tickets were super cheap, and we decided to make a day of it.
I went to the Karo 'Height' cinema, which just opened recently. It's brand new and super modern. The seats are really comfortable, and it's a cozy atmosphere.
A few hours ago, we went to Karo 22 'Vegas' (Miajinino metro station). This cinema is massive – it's got two floors and twenty-two screens. It's almost the biggest cinema in Europe.
I bought the tickets online. I registered on their website, picked our seats, and paid right away. It's great that they offer different ticket categories – adult tickets are one price, and kids under 12 get a discount. It's all clearly listed on the website, no hassle at all. I tried to buy tickets through their website, but in a different network – all the tickets were full price, and they didn't have any discounts. If you need a kid's ticket, it's best to buy it at the ticket counter.
When we got to the hall, we just scanned the QR code on our phone – I didn't even print out the tickets. You can, of course, buy tickets at the ticket counters, but right now they're using self-service terminals. I didn't see any regular counters with cashiers.
Yeah, there's a snack bar with popcorn, water, chips, and all that. And I was surprised – it's all self-service. No cashiers, no security. You do it all yourself.
They've got sweet, salty, caramel, and cheese popcorn.
We got hit with a 1500-ruuble bill...but we're to blame for that.
They've got these candy machines with M&M's. You grab a cup and fill it up yourself. I couldn't find the price anywhere...
And then I start swiping my card at the checkout...and it hits me – 770 rubles for a cup! What a rip-off!
And honestly, it doesn't matter how much you grab – it's a half cup or the whole thing, the cost is per cup. It's not a weight-based product.
There are also vending machines with some sweets and a display case with products from the VkusVill store. The prices, of course, are much higher than at VkusVill.
Before the screens, there are a lot of posters with new releases and movie premieres. Some look like just posters, while others even play trailers.
The cinema is clean and cozy. The flooring is carpeted. There are seats for you to sit on. There's also a photo location (throne)
The cinema is huge – no joke, you could get lost. There are signs to help you navigate.
Of course, there are toilets – separate ones for men and women. The signs are clear.
The toilet rooms are clean and spacious. There are a few sinks, and the water comes out automatically when you place your hand under the tap. There's also liquid soap and hand dryers.
The toilets themselves are fine.
To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with the hall. The hall in that recently opened "Height" place has modern seats with footrests, and you can even lie down. The distance between the rows is huge.
Here, the seats are already worn out. They're narrow and not very comfortable. The distance between the rows is small.
The sound during the movie is clean, without any background noise. It's loud enough, but not overwhelming. Watching is comfortable.
I've got to say, my experience with the Caro network has been pretty solid. The real value for money comes when you're not breaking the bank – and by that, I mean eating out a lot – and then your family budget will actually be pretty well-saved.
I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars.
